Chapter 29 - A Cozy Morning

I awoke to the sensation of soft fingers tracing over the shape of my lips.

"See something you like?", My morning voice was a bit raspy, but as I opened my eyes to stare at the woman in bed next to me I realized that she didn't seem to mind it at all.

She rolled her eyes at me before retorting, "Not really".

The laugh that escaped my throat could not have been prevented.

"Is that so", I cocked a brow, "because that's not what you were saying last night when your lips were sucking and begging me -".

She pounced on me and placed her hands over my mouth.

"Jeez all we did was kiss and you still find a way to make it sound dirty".

I smirked against her hand which was still over my mouth as I placed my hands firmly on her hips taking in our new position.

During her effort to shut me up she had straddled my waist. As she had leaned down so close against me that her breasts were pressed up against my chest.

No complaints here though.

Her eyes flashed with an emotion I knew all too well. As she only now realized our position. Her eyes widened a bit as her hands dropped from over my mouth.

"Sorry", she muttered hastily trying to move away from me but my hands tightened on her waist holding her into place and maintaining our position.

"Don't apologize sweetheart I'm very much enjoying our position, feel free to shut me up like this anytime".

Her cheeks blushed crimson, but her body relaxed against mine.

My hands lowered from her waist to her hips then down to her bum. She bit down on her lips to hold back a moan. But when my hands squeezed her butt she moaned loudly causing me to smirk.

"Yesterday you asked me about Alana", I brought up and I felt her stiffen against me. This time when she tried to pull away I didn't stop her. She sat on the edge of the bed now, looking away from me so I continued.

"But Alana is not the one that I'm in love with", this seemed to catch her attention and her head spun around so fast to look at me that she nearly hit her head into mine as I approached her.

"Who do you love then?", She asked. Her eyes peering into mine.

For some reason I couldn't help but to smile, "I don't know", I teased, "I'm kinda afraid of rejection. Because this woman that I love, she can be completely savage at times but she has her good moments and she's always looking out for me even when I'm a complete dick".

This had her laughing out loud.

"I still love you Za I really do, I tried to stop after we broke up but I couldn't. I'm glad I didn't. I think I've just been lying to myself all this time trying to convince myself I hated you because I was hurt".

A broad smile broke out onto her face and seeing her smile only made me smile as well.

"I never stopped loving you Blake", she was more serious now. "I always hoped that one day you would know the truth and that it wouldn't be too late, for us".

We were so close now I could feel the heat of her breath over my skin.

Without another second I closed the distance between us and kissed her but this time it was slow and passionate and filled with so much desire. Unlike last night it wasn't rough or rushed but it was just as intense. It was the kind of way that you kissed someone that you loved.

The kiss began to change into something more euphoric when our tongues were introduced, deepening our kiss and turning the intensity and pushing me over the edge.

We were mere seconds from getting carried away and completely lost in each other when my phone rang forcing us both to reluctantly pulled away from each other.

Honestly, her kisses had left me in a bit of a daze. I could feel the heat in my face as we pulled away and I reached for my ringing phone. Using it as an excuse I put some much-needed space between us, before things could go any further.

"Hello", I answered as I walked out of the bedroom.

"Mr. Bennett, I'm calling about the ring that you left here last week".

That got my attention, "Yeah is it finished yet? Did you get it resized like I asked?", I practically whispered the last part in case Zadia was in hearing range.

"Yes actually", the jeweler answered, "you can stop by anytime today and pick it up".

"Great, I'll be there in an hour".

************

"Blake", a car pulled up at my feet as I was walking on the sidewalk. The windows rolled down to reveal a smiling Siara.

For a second there my heart missed three beats in a row, I hated to admit it but I was a bit on edge after learning everything.

"Oh it's you", I said not intending to be rude, but that's exactly how it came out.

She disregarded it though or if she noticed she didn't do anything.

"Hop in I'll give you a ride to wherever you're hurrying off to".

I stopped and leaned over so I could look through her window.

"You do know that I have a car right?".

"And yet you're walking".

"I wanted to walk, I'm not going that far".

"Great then hop in".

She wasn't going to give up anytime soon so I got inside the vehicle.

"Where are we heading to?", She asked.

"A jeweler about a block away".

"Really, what business do you have at a jeweler?".

I sighed, "I'm retrieving Zadia's engagement ring".

Siara scoffed as she made a right turn, "You're still bothering with that?".

Sometimes I can't deal with this woman.

"Siara?", I called.

"What is it".

"Shut up and drive".

**************

I was on my way back to the apartment still in Siara's car when I got a text message from Conner.

Apparently we had a new case to work on.

Well that was to be expected of course but what I didn't expect was for Alana to text me as well.

Alana: Meet me in ten minutes it's important. We need to talk.
