Chapter 34 - Interlude: Seeking & Discovery

Deep beneath the oceans of Earth, in one of the secretive and eldritch city-states, a quiet building was abuzz with activity. This building, situated near the literally beating heart of the insanity-inducing metropolis, was home to a dozen of the amorphous priest-scientists who lorded over the city. One of those very priest-scientists was presently overseeing the activity occurring in the city.

The strange creature, an amorphous being who was currently in its laziest form; that of a living puddle, was in the middle of the room atop a raised platform from which it watched the work of a dozen strange entities. The entities were busily entering information into positively bizarre living computers, their fingers veritable blurs as they hurriedly entered data from assorted experiments into the eerie machines that lined the walls of the room in which the priest-scientist tasked with watching over them oversaw their labor.

The entities were technorganic lifeforms, made up of biomatter which protected complex, synthetic organs. These creatures were the newest iterations of the species once known as "Shoggoths", an ancient attempt by biologically immortal eldritch beings to create a species of servants who'd willingly and even happily do the bidding of their creators.

These creatures were the most mundane-looking beings in the room, at least if "mundanity" was defined by the humans of Earth, and they and their fellow neo-shoggoths throughout the city were the most "normal" looking beings in the whole place. They looked like humans but with clearly metallic features such as cybernetic limbs and eyes that were universally a brilliant shade of electric blue.

Each of them looked like powerfully built male humans, and they wore no clothing, not needing any since they were viewed as something akin to sapient pack animals by the rulers of the city. Had anyone told them to put on some clothing, the person or creature telling them to put on clothing would have been looked at by them as though they had a few screws loose.

The creatures knew next to nothing of concepts like "Workers rights", or "Days off" and many of them had even grown to enjoy the perpetual work they were tasked with by their masters and creators. They studiously worked with the living machinery of the room to record and convey the results of dozens of experiments from throughout the city with other equally advanced, equally horrifying cities throughout the deep sea.

The strange priest-scientist who watched over them silently observed their labor while not knowing that it, in turn, was being observed by a being who was as greater than it as it was greater than the neo-shoggoths. The creature in question invisibly, undetectably, floated in the air above even the raised platform from which the priest-scientist watched, eager to see even a simple mistake it could punish with eldritch brutality. The astral projection of a mighty being, a Living God, watched the priest-scientist curiously.

The quasi-omniscient Living God who floated in the room and silently observed the nameless priest-scientist felt his own mind filling with knowledge of the dark sciences that the eldritch beings used to do things like creating their servitors, and to power the magical spells that shrouded their cities from the curious eyes of the humans who lived on Earth's surface. What's more, was that their knowledge was surprisingly relevant to his own knowledge.

In the depths of the ocean, in the eerie eldritch city-state of Naravova, I allowed my mind to grow in various, critically important ways. My powerful psychometry was in the midst of proving itself to be my most valuable power, once again.

I studied the servitors or "Neo-Shoggoths" as they were known to many of the eldritch entities who inhabited the city. In doing so I was able to make a truly remarkable discovery regarding their origins. Ancient memories from millions of years ago were weirdly relevant to me and one of the powers I possessed; an Omega Lord's physiology, complete with over forty-five Omega Sparks.

The first Shoggoths, a group of beings that were now long extinct, were created by ancient Omegatech, incredibly powerful technology created by a collective of powerful ultra-beings whose powers weren't much weaker than ascendant beings and whose technologies were invariably the greatest in this multiverse. My psychometry had advanced to such a degree that by just looking at the eldritch servitors I was able to discover how to create them on my own, thanks to the plethora of Omega Sparks nestled within my soul. And that knowledge would do wonders for me in even the hours to come.

And fortunately for me, the nameless priest-scientist I was observing knew of the Omegatech which had created the first servitors. Which meant that I knew of the Omegatech that had created the first servitors.

Throughout this particular multiverse, Omegatech was the sort of technology that filled the dreams of potent treasure collectors and ancient dictators alike. It was unbelievably powerful stuff, and what's better is that even solely utilizing my powerful psychometry I was able to determine that organizations such as the empire of Titania's father and Atlas Incorporated possessed Omegatech.

Omegatech worked, to a limited extent, for most people depending on the Omegatech in question but every single bit of Omegatech had safeguards in place that did something important; limited their capabilities when not wielded by someone who had an Omega Spark.

Even the smallest bits of Omegatech, such as educational devices that filled someone's mind with knowledge, could only do so much if not used by someone who possessed an Omega Spark, and any Omega Lord could touch a piece of Omegatech and alter it to make it useable by their agents, even if said agents lacked Omega Sparks of their own. Fortunately, due to the incredible nature of "Power Architect" I had dozens of the powerful genetic markers that would allow me to not only use any Omega ability but also any bit of Omegatech even better than their actual creators could.

On Earth, a planet that in the modern-day had fairly few extraterrestrials, no human knew of Omegatech or of the Omega Lords, the mysterious and possibly extinct creators of the countless bits of Omegatech that now littered the multiverse. That didn't mean that no one on the planet knew of Omegatech, as "Worldmind" was quick to inform me, since supernatural beings living on this world were not isolated from extraterrestrials or unaware of events beyond Earth. That said, my ability to utilize Omegatech was one of the many distinctions I possessed from other would-be planetary leaders.

Omegatech included everything from weapons capable of destroying galaxies to items that could terraform entire worlds. At the moment I only possessed Omegatech knowledge regarding how to create servitors, my own sort of shoggoths that were capable of shapeshifting, were immortal, could fly, and possessed physiques beyond peak-human. This was some knowledge that I immediately acted upon, by using it to create a friend.

I was gradually growing used to having multiple bodies out and about at once due to just how many I had active at this very moment. One of my bodies was in the largest prison in the area, conversing with said prison's warden, while another was in the nunnery. My last body was at my university, and was actually doing something pretty important; keeping up appearances.

This body was dutifully going to class and was currently between classes, grabbing lunch in the very food court where I had met Manuel yesterday. He wasn't alone, not anymore. He sat at a table with a "friend", a tall, athletic "student" with light blonde hair and grass green eyes. The two of them ate lunch, though neither of them actually needed it.

"So anyways, in time I'm going to work to attempt to gather more Omegatech." My body explained, speaking quietly but quite energetically to the servitor. The creature nodded back at my body.

"I see. What will you do with all of that stuff, Antonio?" The creature asked, possessing a fair deal of knowledge but little to no context. I had created it from nothing, due to the fact that I was not nearly as limited as the original Omega Lords were. I possessed the sort of power they could only dream of possessing, such as the ability to create things out of nothing. I could even create Omegatech out of nothing, an ability that would have surely made them hate me had any still been around.

It was that ability, the power to create Omegatech out of nothing, that had allowed me to create my "friend" so quickly. It was effortless for me to hollow out a portion of the area underneath my new home and create a laboratory from which I could create the vat I had made to create the first servitor I'd ever make, the very same being who now sat across from me. I was quickly becoming more and more proficient with my powers and that meant that I'd be able to do this and more with even greater ease in time.

For the first time since I had made myself a sort of ultra Omega Lord, I was focused on the potency and potential of the Omega Sparks that burned within my genetic code. The Omega Sparks gave me the mighty powers of the Omega Lords, nearly all of which paled in comparison to my other powers but a few of which were incredibly handy.

"Meta Mind" was an Omega Lord power I was actually deeply fond of that that I had no similar power to aside from some "Mind Enhancement" abilities I had given myself early today. With it, I had an incredible, godly understanding of technology to the point that I could reverse engineer anything and that I could create my own technology with as little as rocks and dirt. I was not yet a potent technology user, but I knew that in time I would become one. Knowledge related to technology was far more relevant now that I had inadvertently come across my first bit of Omegatech.

That said, "Meta Mind" was not the only power I possessed that was quite handy and that owed itself to my abilities as an Omega Lord. I had a copy-ability known as "Mimic", and an alteration ability known as "Alter Power" that were both only matched or surpassed by either Ascendant or Living God abilities and thus were well-worth taking the time to fill myself with them. "Mimic" was only matched by an ability I possessed as an archdemon of envy, and "Alter Power" was only matched by "Power Architect" which was truly fantastic all things considered. Any ability that was on a level comparable to my Living God powers was worth the time it took to acquire and master.

I had even used "Alter Power" on my servitor! I had used it to grant him instantaneous teleportation, and thus to give him the power to come here. He was quick to utilize that power, and thus to arrive at my side. Thanks to him the body that I had created for the purposes of looking normal was able to look like he had friends, which I figured would be an important part of blending in.

Every single bit of Omegatech I acquired would prove deeply invaluable to my faction and to my cause. Once I had my hands on a piece of Omegatech I'd be able to replicate it endlessly, which meant that any weapons I found I could steadily arm my forces with, even if meant creating clones of myself, and that any tool I found I could equip every single one of my agents with. That was the thing that prompted my next decision; to alert both Titania and Alphor as to my new needs.

I linked our minds effortlessly and began to plan my message. As I did a small part of my mind began to fantasize about the potential of outfitting my faction in Omegatech, from powerful armor capable of tanking hits that could shatter planets to weapons as potent as nuclear bombs that fit in the palm of one's hand. And perhaps more importantly than the weapons were the tools created by Omega Lords that I knew of through "Worldmind"; devices that could travel from one end of the multiverse to the next and space stations that could create stars, planets, and moons!

"Alphor, Titania, I need the two of you to leverage your resources and acquire any of the Omegatech your families or companies possess." I informed them, causing Titania to turn and look at me curiously. Surprisingly, the first one to respond to my statement was Alphor, whose reply was heard by Titania and I.

"Master, we only possess replicators. And even our most advanced technomancers can hardly use the blasted things. If we could have used them we'd be even more wealthy..." Alphor bemoaned, causing me to chuckle. Only Titania, Rebeza, and Imani knew that I was an Omega Lord, and so what I was about to reveal was something that would shake up even my follower's impression of me.

"I can use the replicators. And I can unlock them. I possess... many Omega Sparks, and am an Omega Lord." I explained, causing Titania's eyes to widen even as she looked at me curiously. I heard a shocked gasp emanate from Alphor's mind as well.

She had heard me state that I was an Omega Lord previously, but hadn't realized that I was being serious. I actually was an Omega Lord, complete with the potent sparks needed to utilize Omegatech to their true, maximum power.

I had occasionally flexed my powers in areas other than Earth, but until now I had largely avoided massive demonstrations of my power. Armed with my first bit of Omegatech, and coupled with various other powers I possessed, I decided to change that even though very few people would learn of it at the moment. Just this once I would perform a real but subtle demonstration of my might.

I activated my powers in countless locations at the very same time. The primary places I activated my powers were in the bowels of the gigantic fleet of starships that surrounded the local star system, as I activated my strange powers as a Living God and mixed them with the knowledge I had due to my nature as an Omega Lord.

In the depths of any ship larger than a fighter, a gigantic vat for creating servitors appeared from nowhere, due to my mighty Living God powers and nature as an architect. As an architect creation was part of my wheelhouse. At the very same time as the vats appeared, they were marked with a powerful anomaly, courtesy of my "Anomaly" power.

The anomaly was one that filled the vats with infinite biomatter and metal. Biomatter and metal were the two things that were needed to create servitors, and by doing this I was able to outfit my ships with an infinite workforce of technorganic entities, which granted the ship's original robotic inhabitants more freedom. I sensed their approval and appreciation of me increasing a few moments after I did this.

And I also replicated this feat in both my palace world and also the litany of mega worlds I controlled. While doing this I filled the minds of Natalie and Catalina with an awareness of the servitors and an ability to effortlessly control them. This gave my servants greater freedom with which to enforce my laws and to ensure that the mega worlds I possessed were further tailored to my liking.

Satisfied with this, for now, I began to focus further on various goings-on throughout where my awareness extended. In time I was going to get my hands on more Omegatech and every bit of Omegatech that I acquired would surely further boost the capabilities of my faction. And even my very first bit of Omegatech giving me an essentially unlimited workforce of servants was an incredible boost to the capabilities of my faction, which I knew would make a vast difference in the hours, days, months, and then years to come.
