Chapter 13 - Making things right.

CREAK!! The door to Jason's room opened. Jason looked up annoyed to view who it was and behold it was his parents. Joy welled up within him, he almost felt like running towards them and hugging them, but he quickly composed himself and put on an angry expression.

" What do you want Dad? "

" We want to talk to talk to you " Lucius replied stepping into the room with Ginny. Jason threw the bed covers from his body and sat upright on the bed. " I don't want to hear any of what you have to say. If you care so much to know something, then I am fine ".

" Jason, give your parents the chance to talk to you, remember that they are your parents " Melissa said as she entered the room. Jason eyebrows furrowed. He wanted to keep the game on, but anything could happen.

" Alright, you can talk "

" Great, Jason. I didn't want this trip to be for waste " a woman's voice sounded from outside. She stepped into the room to the shocked view of Jason. " Aunty Marilyn? " Jason said stunned.

" Yeah that's me " Aunt Marilyn said sheepishly. She turned to the trio at the door " He still remembers me " a wide grin plastered on her face. Aunt Marilyn was very child-like in her personality, calm and noisy she could be on different occasions. She was also funny looking if you come to think of it. Her dress of pink and red roses gown with a black hat and yellow umbrella coupled with glasses placed on her face showed that perfectly.

" How'd ya do ma boy? " She turned to Jason. " How many people are outside that door? " Jason asked.

" Not many, Jake, Jill and yes.... her boyfriend " Aunt Marilyn replied.

" Boyfriend? " Jason shrieked.

" Yeah, she just came home with him the day after you left and three days was enough to make their fates intertwined "

" Marilyn... I think we need to speak to him first " Lucius said. Aunt Marilyn cast her brother a distasteful look and then agreed. Melissa also took her leave leaving only Lucius and Ginevra.

Ginevra slowly sat on the bedside with Jason. " You will allow me to talk first. " Jason said. " Son.. "

" How mum, you haven't really understood what you did. You queried me for doing something other than lying in bed all day doing nothing, embarrassed and rebuked me from doing something I desired. From scoutship, I got to see a more broader view of the word at least different from the way I saw it in the confines of the manor. I almost thought you were going to do everything in your power to stop me from being a scout any longer from that moment. I even made friends if you come to think of it,and best of all, I'm alive and not hurt as much " He glanced at his arm when he said that. Surprisingly it was healed.

The more he thought about what happened, the more angrier he became. Ginevra and Lucius remained silent for a while till Ginevra broke the silence " Jason, seriously I understand everything you've said and his you feel. This also happened to me when I was younger. When I started showing that I had an ability, my father thought it was a curse. " Ginevra chuckled lightly.

" Most times I would use the wind to move things around just for fun, but my father never loved even as one bit of it. He warned that I stop using the curse in his house, or he would kick me out. I never did, and I left home never to return again. So trust me when I say I understand son. "

" You know, these past few days you weren't at home with us, it has actually hurt me. It was like a part of my life was taken away from me. Each of those days when I didn't see you at the table with us, I felt your presence missing. I made a resolve, with or without your father, I was going to look for you ".

" One thing I also realized was that I don't want you to ever leave me. It might be one of the reasons I was angry immediately it came to my knowledge you were a scout. I was being too selfish as a mother. Jake, Jill, Heron and Jack are all away even though they Jake and Jill are here for the meantime. I could not just bear to see you leave like them ".

" But like you've asked, I've decided to stop restricting you and let you go. Know one thing Jason, I'm always proud of you no matter what. Guess what, Heron's a chicken and you are a man " Jason held his laughter but it came out as a chuckle. " You chose a very tough practice and path to follow. I'm proud of you " Ginevra said. Her eyes already began to water as she spoke those words, but she did a great job holding them back.

" Jason " Lucius spoke up, " I must say to you son that I'm sorry for what transpired in the manor. I... we overreacted and pushed it too far. But, I should admonish you that you did wrong talking to your mother like that ".

Jason bowed his head, thinking about it, he did feel remorse for talking to his parents the way he did. " But I've not come to correct you or anything like that, but to bring you back home. You know son, we make the best decisions for our children, your mother and I and I'm serious about that. "

" For Jake, Jill and Heron even Jack " Lucius said.

Jason raised his eyebrows thinking if they were raised like the way his parents raised him. " I know what you're thinking Jason " Lucius interrupted Jason's thoughts.

" Jake from the age of eight showed his interest in dangerous things. More of adventure I will say. We started to train him in that area allowing him to become a scout and at thirteen he made his decision to study adventure ".

" Same with Jill, your mother was the one who encouraged Jill to step into alchemy. She was so withdrawn from the world, shy and quickly hurt. Other jobs wouldn't have fitted her personality your mother said. We went along with it and she entered the school of alchemy. "

" What about Heron, he too wanted to study alchemy but who studies alchemy when you have the qualities for law. He was first angry thinking we wanted him to do a middle class job and he reluctantly studied it. Now, he'll probably be the youngest council member in the council of the upper thirteen, perhaps the world "

" To be part of the council of the upper thirteen? " Jason asked incredulously.

" To an interview and I'm sure he'll make it " Lucius replied. " To what I was saying, Jack decided to follow after his brother Jake studying adventure. But I urged him against it saying he should go for royal knightship. He sent us a letter last year of which you are aware of saying he really enjoys it. Now, Jack's a tier 3 adventurer, Jill a tier 4 alchemist, Heron the order of law 2 and Jack I know will do well like his brothers ".

Jason nodded as he listened to his father " They really did great work on them ".

" But you son, were so keen on history and study. It was partly our fault yes, but because of this I thought the right path for you to follow was a philosopher or historian "

" What!! " Jason shrieked almost jumping from the bed " A lower class practice? "

" Yes son, I thought that was the path you intended to follow only to see a historian become a scout. Big miracle " Lucius said. " And in a few days time you'll be fourteen a d you still haven't made your decision "

Jason looked embarrassed " So I'm supposed to make a choice of what to study. I haven't really thought about it " he thought.

" All in all son, we are sorry for how we reacted towards your choice of practice. If it's adventure or knightship you intend to follow, then we will stand by you all the way through " Lucius said.

" Now, will you come home with us? We promise that what happened will not happen again " Ginevra said with watery eyes.

Jason did not need to hesitate for this one. He hugged his mother tightly " I'm sorry too and I will come back ". His father joined in the hug together as one family.

Jake stood besides Jason as he packed his things into his bag. " Glad to know you are coming back home with us ".

Jason nodded.

" You know when you left, I kept blaming myself. If I did not urge you to become a scout, perhaps you would have given up on it "

" And do what? I'm happy I became a scout and thanks for the push " Jason replied.

" Oh well, guilt has been lifted up me " Jake laughed. Jason paused for a while before talking " Which do you you think will fit me better, adventure or knightship? "

" Personally I'll say knightship. Apart from what fits you, knightship comes with a lot of opportunities. All the commander of kingdoms were all royal knights and some still are " Jake replied.

" When does Kardeshin school of royal knights begin enrollment? " Jason asked.

" Ummm.. it seems too late now to go there. Their enrollment has already begun and it will and in few days time. It wouldn't have been late if not for the fact that the enrollment actually takes a month to complete " Jake replied.

" The enrollment was really early this year, I suppose that's the reason why Dad and Mum weren't aware. But other schools are still available and it's not too late to go for another practice or you could just wait for next year if you really want to study knightship " Jake added still wondering why Jason would want to make a choice now.

Jill opened the door and entered the room along with Kyle. " Jason, how are you? " Jill asked enthusiastically.

" Getting ready to come back " Jason replied. His eyes landed on Kyle whom he perceived to be his sister's boyfriend.

" You must be? "

" Kyle " he replied. " You must already known that I'm your sister's boyfriend ".

" Kyle hmmm... nice to meet you " Jason extended his hand for a handshake. " Same here " Kyle replied.

" Brown, come over here " Aunty Marilyn shouted from downstairs. " Brown? " Something clicked in Jason's head. He took a good look at kyle, his brown blonde and close resemblance to somebody..... Elsa.

" He was actually the one that led us to you " Jill said.

" How? " Jason asked absentmindedly.

" My sister told me after you told her and fortunately, Jill told me about you " Kyle said.

" Elsa? "

" Yeah. Elsa " he replied. " I think she has a thing for you " he winked before walking out the door. Jason blinked furiously " I'm going to be related to that idiot of a human called Don, why am I so unlucky? " he wailed in his thoughts.

" Alright, time to go " Jake said dragging Jason's luggage outside the door leaving Jason alone in the room. His eyes caught a paper on his window. " This wasn't here before " he thought. He opened it and read the contents. Briefly it was from Davis reminding him of their evening meeting.

" How could he have known I was leaving so fast and send a letter at that to my window of a places " Jason thought. " Instructor still remains fascinating ".

" I'll still visit from time to time " Jason told Narla as he and his family walked out of the house.

" Promise? "

" Yeah, it's a promise " Jason replied. " Gwap.... " he shrieked as Narla gave him a big hug and tight one too. She released him after a while.

" Have a safe journey " Melissa told them. " Thanks ".
