She could understand Bernard Taylor's desire to present a perfect image to her parents, but this fretful version of Bernard was really dragging things out too much for Avery's taste.
In the end, she helped Bernard pick out a dark gray casual suit. Bernard had a good frame, naturally well-suited for clothes, so he really looked good in anything.
After all, that suit jacket would only need to be worn for the greeting. Once at her house, in order to show off, he would certainly want to help out with chores, right? Naturally, he wouldn't be able to wear the jacket then, so the shirt was more important than the suit.
Avery also picked out a white shirt for Bernard because she loved seeing him in white. Whenever she saw Bernard in his white doctor's coat, she thought he looked incredibly handsome, almost ethereally so, as if he wasn't of this world.
They finally settled on the clothes, and after eating something casual at the mall, they began to approach various counters.
