The next day, Avery Graham arrived at the Cake Shop bright and early at seven o'clock to clean. Before the New Year, she had asked the staff to rest until the fifteenth, so she was just there to check in, as there wasn't much else to do.
After she finished cleaning the shop, she planned to visit the two pregnant women. Carolline Ruiz had come back early too, and she wanted to visit them as well, trying to bask in their happiness—after all, Carolline was now the happiest woman alive.
By the time Avery had finished cleaning, it was almost noon. Visiting people at that hour would make it seem like she was there to scrounge for a meal, so she decided to settle her own lunch first.
That's the thing about running one's own business—it requires diligence. Many shops had already opened for business, and it was rare to start after the big holiday like she did. Yet, she liked to spoil her staff a little more, offering them additional welfare as long as they worked diligently.
