As they took turns driving, just about to reach G City, Michael Auclair's phone rang. It was a call from Adelle Turner. He hesitated as he looked at the caller ID, unsure whether to answer.
Why was this woman calling him at this time? They weren't due back to work until tomorrow. What on earth did she want from him now?
They had slept together on the night of the company's annual party because he was drunk, and then, after being rejected by Avery the following day, he was feeling down and had gone to Adelle for a temporary fix. He regretted it deeply since and had agreed to give her a generous compensation. But it seemed like it was never enough for this woman.
