Once they reached the Department Store, Jollie Auclair's avaricious nature became apparent. In front of Avery Graham, she'd praise one item after another, claiming one of her classmates was using this or a cousin had that, and she did not.
Avery naturally opened her wallet and purchased the items for her. Although the money wasn't a lot, Avery's impression of Jollie worsened.
Michael Auclair didn't quite understand these things. Eventually, when the three of them arrived at the phone section, Jollie once again stopped in her tracks, "Big Brother, remember you said over the phone that you'd buy me a new phone? Have you forgotten?"
"What model do you want to buy? Go ahead and pick it out yourself," Michael recalled the promise.
"Hmm, I want the latest Apple model; it's available for pre-order, and you have to pay half upfront," Jollie declared shamelessly while also gauging Avery's reaction.
