Carolline quickly shook her head, claiming she wasn't that delicate. She recalled her father mentioning that, when she was just one year old, she was already able to eat with a spoon on her own, albeit messily.
Emily Hill thought that was impressive, so from then on, she stopped feeding Carolline altogether, allowing her to practice on her own.
Carolline practically snatched the spoon from Bryan Hawkins' hand in front of her, quickly scooping up a spoonful of food and shoving it into her mouth. Bryan didn't have a chance to warn her, and Carolline immediately winced as she burned herself, curling up her tongue in pain.
"What's the rush? I wanted to tell you it was hot, but I couldn't." Bryan softly scolded her, taking the spoon from her hands and stirring the food in the bowl, blowing on it to cool it down.
Carolline stared at Bryan's actions, feeling as if a chord in her heart had suddenly snapped, completely broken.
