"It's good that we've called the police, now we can only wait for news." Debbie Duncan nodded, then sat down on the sofa without doing anything else, her face ashen, looking really worried about Elena.
"Mom, where did you go today?" It was rare for Cole Duncan not to go straight back to his room, but instead, he pushed his wheelchair towards the living room, approaching Debbie Duncan.
"Today Jane Auclair came to see me, asking for money again. She somehow found out that you sold your company, so she came to negotiate with me one last time. She said if I don't give her the money, she'll sue us. You know, her father was once the First Hospital Dean, and when the surgery was done, there was evidence left behind. So... I went out to talk to her."
Debbie Duncan's explanation was smooth and didn't seem far-fetched.
More importantly, she had already been through two lawsuits, so it was understandable that she didn't want to go through another one.
