"...I want to drink some water." The moment the words left her mouth, Carolline was stunned, not realizing how hoarse her voice had become. It sounded like she was a starving woman, eagerly anticipating this very night for a long time.
"Okay." Bryan Hawkins bent down to kiss her hair and then went to the drinking fountain to pour her a glass of water. Handing it to her, he said, "Drink up, the temperature is just right."
Gulping it down, Carolline didn't know if it was genuine thirst or nervousness that made her chug the entire glass of water so quickly. Bryan chuckled lightly and asked, "Want more?"
Water, available in unlimited supply.
"Yes." Carolline didn't hesitate, asking for another glass. She really was too thirsty – that last glass had left her feeling like it wasn't enough.
With a good temperament, Bryan stood up and fetched her another glass. As he handed it to her, he gently reminded her, "You're a nurse, you should know better. Drink slowly, don't rush."
