"Auntie, let's wait for the Village Chief to come back," Carolline Ruiz raised her eyebrows, not having seen the Village Chief yet.
Before, it was always the four of them eating together. She would chat with Auntie about daily life, and Gavin Campbell would drink wine with the Village Chief. They all got along quite well.
"No need to wait for him. I've put his food aside for whenever he comes back. Let's eat first, who knows when he'll return?" The Village Chief's wife said carelessly.
Carolline and Gavin tried to insist on waiting, but they couldn't convince the Village Chief's wife. So, they had to eat dinner with her first, and the Village Chief still hadn't returned by the time they finished.
They waited a bit longer, watching the local news on the Village Chief's black and white television. Soon it was eight in the evening, and Carolline was getting tired and yawning.
