All of the players ran in different directions, and they all talked to each other, trying to firm some sort of party. The permanent death scared them, so none of them wished to be alone, except Dan.
Dan thought that they were naive to trust other players. He knew that the competition inside that game would me even more fierce now, so trusting others was the same as shooting in your own feet.
Dan tried to contact Nate, but he didn't manage to. The private message system was locked until one reached level 10, and there was no way he would manage to find Nate in that crowd of players. There was also the chance of Nate not even being in that town in the first place, so that would be a waste of time.
Getting out in the open field was a smart move in the eyes of Dan. He knew that almost all of the players would be in shock after that statement, and they wouldn't leave the town so soon. In fact,he knew that some players would eventually stay in the city forever. That wasn't the case for Dan, as he stealthily left the town, making sure no one noticed his departure. He didn't trust anyone, and he didn't want to be the first to die.
He felt somewhat happier on choosing the rogue class. Rogues were known for being stealthy, and they had a skill that turned them invisible. That would certainly help the chances of surviving that catastrophe.
The name of the town Dan had spawned was unknown to him, as he didn't talk to any of the NPCs inside of it. A plain field waited Dan, which wasn't something good for a Rogue.
He did notice some forest not that far from the city, and that was precisely where he intended to go. Rushing levels would help him a lot. There were two dangers inside the game. Getting killed by monsters, and getting killed by players. If he managed to become the player with the highest level, that would give him an advantage when facing other players. The only problem was that if he wanted to level up, he would have to kill monsters, and they could do the same to him.
"I'll need to be extra careful around here. I don't have a clue to what monsters are inside this forest," he thought, walking slowly throughout the forest. Dan used the bushes and the trees to hide. His father had taught him some skills to become almost invisible in the eyes of others. Dan didn't know if he could apply the same techniques inside the game as well, but there weren't reasons why that wouldn't work.
The tracks behind him were easily covered. If a party of players somehow followed him with bad intentions, it would be the end of him. Well, he was certain that only a few number of players would leave the town so soon, and he was almost sure that he was the first of them. No way someone would have the same willpower and calmness as a true assassin.
It didn't take long for Dan to find the first monster, a slime. It was a strange scene to find a slime in the middle of a forest, but he didn't mind that.
"Look, a slime. Let's kill it," a male voice echoed, and Dan was surprise to see a party of 3 people already outside of the town.
"These guys are either dumb or real pros. Let me see what category they fit in,"
