Once Kiplee's powers weakened all the way, her heart stopped. Her historic last words were: "When the light dies, the darkness grows."
Her power from the rose was transferred from her to advisors. With this effect came Sia, Hian, and Kendra, wanting all the powers of the rose just like Kiplee did 14 years ago.
This made the people of Lancer not want to trust them with power over their town. More Families in Lancer packed up and moved to Pizah mostly because of the growth of jobs. Because of this effect Sia, Hian, Kendra outlawed the train route to get workers to Pizah. Plus, they issued a stay-at- home order. They could only go to Pizah for essentials which made most stores implement home delivery or pickup at the store. It also made riots happen again. These riots lead to law-making Friday being banned. This also led to the riots being all day every day. This made Sia, Hian and Kendra make jobs pop up for enforcement to help control the riots. As you can tell, this made life in Lancer pretty dismal. As for the rose, the darkness in Lancer made the lights go out on Kiplee's power completely. This made Kiplee's petal fall off the rose. It also made people less interested in following the laws in Lancer. This led to Sia, Hian, and Kendra locking people up in an underground prison. There was one person who was imprisoned that started an all out war in Lancer. He was Gian's brother, Marcus. I guess this is what Kiplee meant when he said "When the light dies the darkness grows" The light dying meaning the dismal days of rioting in Lancer and darkness growing because there were several people becoming inmates in this underground prison plus the fact of the rose losing Kiplee's petal.
When the people in Pizah started losing workers due to the stay-at-home orders issued in Lancer. They were forced to raise pay and that made things a little pricey for people to buy things (especially things like needs).
This forced the government to subsidize prices on needs like food and clothing which made it harder for people to make money on those things. But the rule on these subsidies was that if it didn't fit the mold of what the government wanted you to look like then you would be screwed and would have to pay twice as much if you wanted to control what you looked like. As for food, only things that were healthy were subsidized. Other things like candy and soda weren't and you were stuck buying pricey candy and soda if you wanted to feed your sweet tooth.
This led to people buying pricey clothes, candy and soda and selling it behind the government's back for less in hidden alleyways and over the black market.
Because of that, strangely the economy soared. But violence and things like people raiding stores for all the pricey stuff just so that they could just sell it for cheaper over the black market. Sadly people doing things like this made the government put things out like cameras on all streets and in all stores. But that didn't stop them. Things like creating synthetic face masks which were things people thought only happened in the movies started becoming increasingly popular.
Things like such made it harder to trust people. Treating people the way you wanted to be treated became a thing of the past. Now if you did not fit the mold of society, you were looked down upon and treated like you didn't matter.
Such things like being popular became commonplace. People did everything for fame. If that meant pushing their beliefs on other people they would do it. Even embarrassing people over the web (which used to be a bad thing) would be practiced if it meant you could be famous.
People blamed the magic of the rose being gone. My sisters came to me.
"Kaze, don't you see that the rose weakening has made everyone become savages?"
"I think it's just a sign that the end is near."
"Kaze, Paige is right. I believe what Kiplee said is true. The light from the rose dying has made darkness (meaning Satan's power has grown) a true sign we need to stop the rose from being destroyed all together!"
"What do you suppose we do? I mean, it was bound to happen, eventually. Sadly, it happened sooner."
