Chapter 147 - confrontation

[hidden quest completed, gain 800,000 to stats]

what the fuck!

I looked around, trying to see what made that screen pop up, it was a good thing I got more stats but where the hell did it come from?

[you completed a hidden quest, remain calm for 12 hours after destroying a planet on your own]

that was a hidden quest?!

[yes]

looks like I'm the only one who doesn't know what's in store for me.

[all systems have hidden quests that are based on the user's actions, you determine your quests, hidden or otherwise]

maybe I do have control over my life, I was spiraling earlier and thought that I didn't, I thought that I was being used by the beings that brought me here, since they couldn't get rid of me why not make me a powerful weapon, but apparently that's not the case at all.

that gave me more relief than I ever knew was possible, that gut wrenching anxiety was replaced by something else, a strong desire to just go home and sleep, it's been a long day.

I was about to take off into the skies when my sisters fell around me in a circle, dropping from the sky like bombs, they looked serious.

"what's up guys, what brings you here?"(syn)

my question went unanswered, only Lya stepped forward.

"what are your plans?"(lya)

I was confused at the question, I don't have any plans, I have something I want to do right now, but no plans.

"I'm going home, to sleep, I'm tired."(syn)

she gave me a very cautious and studying glance, something happened while I was away, they're acting unusual.

"what is it? what happened?"(syn)

no one answered, some looked terrified, something I'd never seen from my sisters before, they looked scared of me, was it my ride in power they were sensing? no, that would make them motivated, not scared.

something else happened.

but I didn't have time to figure out what, I don't think I cared enough either, whatever it was could wait until I've spent a couple days or weeks with my family.

I opened my wings, noticing a very large change immediately.

they were large, largely feathered, same silver color as my hair, shadows seemed to almost wisp from them as I moved them around curiously.

"well that's new."(syn)

[true form change, by accepting your own darkness and allowing it to be apart of you a level appropriate control over shadows has been acquired]

"these are fucking cool."(syn) I said as I flapped them lightly, barely leaving the ground, dark swirling mist black in color seemed to waft from them like some kind of pixie dust, swirling gently, yet ominously, to the ground.

"he's become dark."(lya) said to herself, her face one of realization for some reason.

with a wave of Lya's hand the rest of my sisters took off back into the skies, their winged figures retreating above the clouds.

"what's going on?"(syn)

my question went unanswered in words, instead it was answered in actions, Lyas body began to shift and morph in an elegant fashion that was mesmerizing to view, a glowing being of light and floral life was left before me, wings of plant root and light opened behind her.

she assumed a battle stance, one I didn't recognize, which wasn't uncommon, her muscles bulged and restricted subtly, she was about to attack!

I circulated my marital art skill energy around my body quickly, releasing my aura and wings as well.

something told me this wasn't a normal attack.

I was about to think more about what it could be when her form blurred before me, my body barely lunging to a limbo in time, the heat from her arm radiated violently towards me, waves of heat and pressure shockwaved through the forest, soon breaking several windows on a nearby collapsed skyscraper as it expanded outwards.

she wasn't messing around.

"look I know I love to fight but I'd like to at least know why first!"(syn) I shouted as I dodged another flurry of attacks, taking every chance to counter attack, my knuckles seemed to singe at every move.

"I have to protect all life here!"(lya) shouted, seemingly completely out of nowhere, it took a second, and a really near miss of decapitation, before it finally clicked in my head, she's trying to kill me because I've accepted my darkness, she must have gotten some type of quest.

[she has, would you like to know which?]

yes!

her second attempt at decapitation me went unsuccessful as my system began loading, the holographic screen newrly distracting me as I tried to stay moving.

don't get me wrong if I'm right then I'm a million above her in stats, the problem is if I don't hold back she'll die, I don't want to kill my siblings.

[quest found]

[she received a quest to kill you, the reward is infinite power over life and death]

hold on a sec, power over life and death, she wouldn't be fighting for that for no reason, we don't age, she's fighting for it to use it on a mortal creature, she's fighting for someone!

"look Lya I get it, you're fighting for someone, but you have to accept that death is apart of life, it's how we all got here!"(syn) I shouted between her increasingly reckless and emotional attacks, looks like my guess was right, she is doing this for someone.

"killing you is the only way to save my son!"(lya) half shouted, half sobbed.

save? wait, I might have an idea!

can I extend someone's life through my blood of transformation ability?!

[yes]

by how much?!

[the more blood they consume the longer they live]

"wait! I can save your son!"(syn) I shouted as I latched my hands around Lya's arm, my palms burning as I held her in place, my healing preventing any major damage whatsoever.

"how?! not even nature could do anything!"(lya)

"I'm not nature!"(syn) I shouted, my expression showing my sincerity about my previous statement, luckily Lya took notice, lowering her guard, the bright light and plant life began to fade and crumble away from her, shrinking her by a good three feet.

"prove it!"(lya) yelled at me, grabbing me by the arm and taking off into the sky, dragging me through the clouds and past many different sights, minutes would pass then an hour would, our flight taking its end there, a sharp dive to the ground accompanied by a hard landing ended the "journey".

"I can fly ya know, didn't have to drag me here."(syn) I said as I patted the dust from my clothes.

Lya barely acknowledged me, waving off my comment easily, grabbing me again and resuming dragging.

"I cam stop this whenever I feel like it, just making sure ya know."(syn)

again no answer.

all I got was tossed into a small wood cabin, a single bed by a window was all the house had, it was depressing.

"no wonder you're grumpy, I would be too if I lived here."(syn)

no answer yet again.

I picked myself off the floor, my eyes catching the stare of a young boy on the bed, hadn't noticed him before, he looks younger than my daughter, maybe ten, similiar silver hair to the rest of us primals.

"who's this mommy?"(young boy) asked Lya, further confirming what has happened so far, she was trying to gain power over life and death for someone.

"I'm here to help, I just have one question."(syn)

lya was about to start yelling at me when I stopped her.

"I need to know one thing, what's the point of life if you'd rather not have it?"(syn)

at this she backed off.

"so."(syn) I said, turning back to the boy.

"I can help but it's not gonna be easy for you, you'd have to hurt people to live, you'd be called very bad names, maybe even attacked. helping you will change your entire life, everything, are you sure you still want me to help you?"(syn)

I could see the hesitation in his eyes.

"just do it already!"(lya) yelled in frustration.

"if he doesn't want to then I won't, I'm not like our "mother" I don't choose for people, I don't control their lives."(syn)

Lya was getting more emotional, her eyes glowed a brilliant white, I stood and faced her, glowing mine at their own deep red, a clash of aura seemed to take place for mere moments, her next words only fueled the tension.

"you don't control people's lives? OK. you just end them."(lya) said, like it was some sort of insult.

"all primals gain power through killing, even you, everything in this world kills, in some form or another, like I said, death is apart of life."(syn)
