the scared looking teenage boy behind me was whimpering, seriously?
I turned and looked at him with a questioning look, he yelped and scurried back, the fuck?
"dude, what are you doing?"(syn)
"I'm uh uh I'm uh looking for uh um uh."(boy)
I put my head in my hands as I sighed, I was terrifying wasn't I?
"you're looking for something, right?"(syn)
the boy nodded shakily, I can't be that scary.
[you are absolutely terrifying in the right circumstances]
I had absolutely no idea how to take that, is it a compliment? insult? both?
[focus]
ah right, shaking my head I looked at the terrified kid.
sighing outloud because I'd have to change the thing I'd liked the most I closed my eyes, a few seconds passing before they opened, a human looking eye with blood red irises.
I'd loved those reptilian eyes, now I can't use them for a while, I need to eat a reptile to get em back.
I'd almost totally forgotten that I could do that, it was an experiment I did back when I was atill under level 30, I wanted to be more intimidating so I tried to change my eyes, downside was I had to eat the eyes of that creature and once changed back to normal I couldn't use them again, I'd need to eat more eyes, which I stopped doing since it was disgusting.
lending down to the kids level I calmed my voice before talking to him.
"how old are you kid?"(syn)
"im...uh....15."(teenager)
"I'm pretty scary huh?"(syn)
he just nodded quickly.
"I can help of you want, what are you looking for?"(syn)
"vampire camp."(teenager) said after a long and awkward pause.
"I'm staying there right now I'll take you on over!"(syn)
I motioned for him to follow and started walking in the camps direction, the walk only taking a few minutes.
reaching Marie's tent I flung open it's flaps and was met face to face with Raya.
"hey look I'm sorry about-"(Raya)
"don't worry about it, oh hey Marie, this kid here was looking for you."(syn)
Raya looked hurt that I ignored her after responding but I need a sec before I can act like nothing happened.
"I'm not taking strays!"(Marie)
I looked at the kid apologetically.
"we'll sorry kid looks like I can't help, good luck!"(syn) I told him, turning to leave before his next words stopped me.
"my mother is the granddaughter of the evole progenitor!"(teenager)
granddaughter?!
my face paled as I looked at the kid closer, long-ish gray hair, red human eyes.
"did you say granddaughter?!"(Marie)
"Hey, Syn, congrats, one of your kids actually managed to survive!"(Raya) said excitedly, patting me on the shoulder.
bad timing, really bad timing.
"oh great the biggest pain in my life has more of itself!"(Marie)
I stayed silent and still, my mind racing under the surface of my neutral expression.
"I don't know what you're talking about, I'm just some random guy."(syn) I said with monotone voice, hiding my emotions.
I left the tent then, hiking back up to that far hill, my past hopes that had once lived free were bashing against where I'd buried them, deep down.
I didn't look back as I heard Raya approaching, I didn't know what to feel towards her right now.
"I'm not in the mood for anything."(syn)
"why can't you ever be happy about anything?!"(Raya)
"good question."(syn) I responded, still not turning around.
ahead approached quickly, grabbing my shoulder and spinning me, she stopped and stared as soon as she did, neither of us moving.
"your eyes...."(Raya)
"yeah yeah, they're back to what they once were."(syn)
"THEY WERE ONCE LIKE THIS?!"(Raya)
she was shocked at my eyes? really? right now, with much bigger things, my eyes?...
I shrugged her hand off and resumed staring at the starry sky, the large moon in the background.
and I could've stayed like this, just watching the night sky but an odd voice kept ringing in my head, repeating the message of "I know you can hear me, save me already" over and over, it's general location popping up in my memory like it'd always been there.
"oh cmon! not another thing to deal with!"(syn)
I stood and gestured at Raya to follow, no words needed as my face was one of seriousness, a face she'd seen before.
I'd made my way down to Marie's tent, frantic voices inside.
"it didn't work?!"(teenager)
"it should've!"(Marie)
opening the flaps I just prepared myself to leave immediately, my expectations shattering before the sight in front of me.
Marie had blood on the corners of her mouth and the teenager I'd brought had closing fang marks on his neck.
"why didn't it work?!"(teenager)
if my guess was right he was now the vampiric version of an evole, not an actual vampire, being a vampiric type and an actual vampire are different, surprisingly enough, most people aren't aware of that.
"no it worked, you're just not a pure vampire, you're a vampiric type for your race."(Raya)
thank you my walking thesaurus.
"my blood isn't enough to make him pure vampire?!"(Marie)
"nope."(syn)
she gave me an annoyed glare.
"how is that even possible?"(Marie)
"his blood must be stronger than yours."(Raya)
Marie glared at me again, nearly scowling at this point.
"you had something to do with this!"(Marie)
"no, I didn't, Raya was wrong, all my kids are dead and gone there's no way anyone alive today is related to me."(syn)
the teenager finally spoke up, breaking the tension between us adults.
