Chapter 47 - day one of two weeks

"alright students were now going to be taking you to a place you'll have to survive on your own."(principal)

[new quest: survive the two weeks and not have HP go below 100, instant level up x5]

oh Raya is so fucked

"hey I just got a quest, once we get there I'm in charge."(syn) I whispered to Raya as not to Interrupt the principal.

"what? no!"(Raya)

I just gave her a stop being stubborn look before answering.

"my quest said I'd level up five times if my HP stayed above 100, I'm in charge."(syn)

she offered no complaints after that, I think on some level she knew what she had dragged me into.

once the principal was done talking we were motioned to board a helicopter, me and Raya were about to get on when the principal stopped me.

"why are you here?"(principal)

"owed her a favor, she chose this."(syn) I lied.

"smart."(principal) said to Raya, letting us board the copter with the other pairs.

"you couldn't even beat my mother."(Raya)

"I didn't fight your mother, I stood there and took everything."(syn) I reminded her.

a look of realization dawning on her face, I'm willing to bet not many picked a fight with her mom and lived.

the flight was long and boring, I figured I could fly faster than this on my own.

and after waiting for a while and watching the sun go below the horizon line we were given the green light to jump, the back of the copter being opened from the front.

Raya tried to reach for a parachute but I stopped her, jumping out with both of us and letting us free fall for a sec.

and after I was far enough from the copter I used my wings, my shirt tearing as I used them to glide us in circles as we descended slowly.

"I hate you!"(Raya) shouted in the heat of the moment, if she hated me she wouldn't have brought me.

it took a minute for us to land and once we did I made sure we didn't move, straining my hearing to its utmost limit and exploring nearby sounds.

"it's already night so we can't be out here for long, there's a probable shelter not too far, be quiet, I mean it I will leave you here if you're loud."(syn)

she nodded and followed after me, I started taking us to a cave that wasn't too far from here.

it was behind a waterfall, not the best but it would do for now.

"I'll go first I case it's inhabited."(syn)

"I can help-"(Raya)

"look were now in survival mode, our only goal is to make it to tomorrow, you have an issue with that then you can go first."(syn) I told her bluntly.

she shook her head quickly side to side as I waded into the hip deep water snd into the waterfall, entering the cave and finding it empty, and mostly dry, our luck on day one was decent.

I left the cave and motioned for Raya to come on over, she hesitated for a while before finally getting in the water and waking over after I turned around and took a step, threatening to leave her there.

she got to the waterfall and stopped, I sighed and opened my wings, putting them over us ad we passed into the cave.

[215/230]

I might not get much sleep tonight.

once we were inside Raya got to work setting up the her stuff, a probable mattress pad, sleeping bag, and fire starter.

"stay here."(syn)

I kept my wings out as I used them as an umbrella again, making sure to remember the waterfall and its surroundings so I could come back, taking my time gathering dry wood, enough to last for the night, it was easy for me but this next part might not be.

then again maybe not, I wrapped my wings around the wood, creating almost a waterproof backpack, satisfied I walked back to the waterfall and re entered the cave, placing tje firewood down not too far but not on close from the entrance, the smoke can't be trapped in here, that wouldn't end well.

getting to work on setting up the fire as Raya watched curiously, my hands moving deftly and with experience, the fire alight and growing as it consumed the wood, giving us warmth and light.

"you sleep first, I'll keep watch."(syn)

at this point she's learned that here is where I shine, and she has no experience here, it made sense.

the night was long and the fire was now almost dwindling as my eyes felt heavy, I could stay awake for a week without side effects, after that was a toss up, I'd be good for a while.

---

waking Raya I told her to pack up her stuff so we could leave, she was confused but I explained my survival strategy to her, what heat me alive for 10 years.

"this is by definition perfect shelter, which means it will be a point of conflict among other creatures and ourselves, we need to avoid that, cause out here it's survival of the fittest, and right now that's not you."(syn)

"hey!"(Raya)

"you brought luxuries and didn't want to get wet or dirty, do I have any luxuries with me?"(syn)

"no."(Raya) answered.

"look I'm harsh because you brought me here to keep you alive and to pass, let me do that."(syn)

she didn't offer anything against that, so on we went, deeper into the forest.
