Chapter 24 - SAVED BY A LASER WEAPON

SAVED BY A LASER WEAPON

"Damnit, I must run", I thought to myself, but the presence of the magical Hyena froze my limbs.

The Hyena had a mysterious aura that exerted an unknown pressure in the surrounding. The psychic energy caused the strength in my body to be sapped and I fell to the ground, immobilized by the aura of the Hyena's threatening presence.

"What the hell is this feeling that is suppressing my body and mind?" I asked myself but I had no answers.

In the Compendium of Magical Creatures, the bible of hunting sworn upon by the hunters of Slowan Town, there exist extremely powerful creatures who could manipulate the minds of their victims. I could be the subject of such manipulation now.

Suddenly, a thought came to my mind.

The experiences of my former life probably told me that the aura constricting my mind and movements was well, just something in my mind.

"It's all in my mind", I imagined the alternate personality that I envisioned in my soul telling me that.

The Hyena leapt into the air and the wind around it swirled into a cyclone. With a cyclonic wind emblazoning the Boss of this realm, it quickly swooped down toward me in a deadly charge.

I anticipated the charge from the Fang Hyena and could only accept my impending demise in the fangs of the creature.

"You can do something about it", I imagined my other self telling me.

And he was right.

Suddenly, I leapt into the air as energy crackled all over my body. I released the magic from my templar skies and poured them into my being, activating a superhuman strength, dexterity and endurance in me.

As I returned to the ground, I saw the Fang Hyena who landed on the ground before me, failing to kill me with a clash.

The creature that was moments ago my death call, was no longer as intimating, because I commanded the strength of my templar magic.

But yet, I was still not the match for the Fang Hyena. That much I realize.

I quickly ran with no destination in mind. Running was my only thought because the Boss Hyena was right behind me. Running was the only way to save myself and I was lucky that I could actually run.

The other preys of the creature fell to the ground without a chance of escape.

I was running quite fast because My Templar Momentum was already occupied by three glowing stars which channeled more magic directly into my limbs, and I wore a pair of momentum kneecaps that further increased and magnified my running speed.

With that, I might be able to keep up with the speed of the Fanged Hyena.

"I am faster than the damn cat", I reminded myself continuously hoping that hope would stop the freezing presence of the Hyena from taking hold over me.

However, Fang Hyena's greatest strength wasn't its aura that could immobilize its victims, its speed was its greatest strength. And it was gaining quickly on me.

"Damnit, there is no hope. I can't outrun the Hyena nor fight it", I complained to myself.

I was awaiting death because the Fanged Hyena would soon kill me. Despite my templar magic, I would still end up under the fangs of the Hyena.

-----

"Zzziinnggg"

Suddenly a bright light appeared from near me, and the light was targeted at the Fanged Hyena to my surprise. I was saved by the light that struck the powerful cat.

"It's a hand phaser", I said to myself right away.

Despite having never seen such a weapon or device in all my life in Slowan village, I recognized the weapon immediately.

The weapon was a hand phaser, a device that the alien world where my previous life came from possessed and the device could conjure a powerful beam of energy.

"Who the hell would fire a phaser in the forest?" I was about to ask myself when suddenly, appearing before me was a human in strange tattered clothing who held on to a phaser like weapon.

"Catch me if you can, you bastard cat", the man screamed at the Fang Hyena.

It seemed that I wasn't the one the Fanged Hyena was hunting but the man who shot at it.

"Arggghhh"

The Fanged Hyena screamed as it was shot and wounded.

The man who fired at the beast walked toward me slowly and suddenly spoke to me in a strange language that I wasn't familiar with initially.

But somehow, I started to talk back to the guy, continuing the conversation.

"The language is very familiar", I told myself as my memories were quickly unlocked.

"Are you from Earth?" I asked the man.

"Holly Hell, another human. Let's talk after we get rid of the bad cat, my phaser needs time to recharge", the man said to me as we ran from the creature who wasn't certified dead yet.

Although the Fanged Hyena was seriously wounded by the laser, it was regenerating quickly and even its opened wound magically closed and it was not bleeding anymore.

"What's the problem with these bloody cats, they just don't die", the guy complained to me.

"They can regenerate their wounds", I replied to him.

"How can these cats regenerate without nano-bots, how did the cat have nano-bots even I don't have the technology yet", he said to me.

What the man said to me would be unintelligible to the people of the Ten-Kingdoms nor would the things he mentioned mean anything to us.

In the 23rd century Earth, humans developed the technology of nano-bots, which were organic builders inside human's bodies. These nano-bots could repair injuries in the bodies as well and the man thought the Fang Hyena had nano-bots in it.

"In this world, magic replaces technology", I replied to him.

"How do we kill the darn cat then?" he asked me.

"With magic", I replied to him before I added, "and your phaser when its recharged".

"Magic Missiles"

Suddenly, several projectiles struck the Fang Hyena which threw it off its course. But its furry skin was much tougher than I expected, and the magic missiles failed to wound it much.

The Fang Hyena's skin was too tough for my magic missiles to penetrate.

"I can't hit into the hyena's skin", I told the guy.
