We had to leave almost inmediately. We were sent back to our tents, and were ordered to pack our stuff.
- You have 3 hours to pack and leave your platoons to the designated Colonel.
The words echoed in my head while leaving the Generals tent. I only looked in front of my feet, and so did the Lieutenant Colonel. We walked next to each other quietly. Didn't look at each other, but we could feel one another's feels. This deployment was more dangerous than any of our earlier missions. Fighting with regural people? No. We have to save them, to protect them, but we can't fight with them.
Chills ran down my back just by thinking about all this. I closed my eyes thightly and slowed down. "I don't want to go!!"
Benedict placed his hand on my shoulder. He didn't look at me.
- You won't be alone this time, you know that, right? I'll be with you the whole time.
I held my breath and nodded, but tears filled my eyes.
We stopped in front of my tent, and I looked to the man next to me.
- Go. You're dismissed! - I said harshly. He just stood there and grinned to my order.
- Yes, Colonel Sophia.
He bowed and turned away. While he walked further and further, the tears from my eyes started falling. I ran into the messy green tent, and kicked my bed. I screamed, and fell from the pain. I cowered my mouth, the tent won't hold in the voice and screaming.
...
I might have fell asleap while crying, and I dreamt about the past. The scary, bloody, noisy past, where I could sense DEAD every second. Pain and screams cowered the field, fire ate the trees and grass under our feet. My gun layed next to my leg, while I held a sword in my hands.
My breathing is slow and heavy, the smoke hid everything from my eyes, and ash cowered my hair.
Warm blood flow down my face and arms, the stabbed wound on my stomach ached and bleeded heavily. I started to feel a bit dizzy.
I blinked, and slowly looked around. I, now, couldn't hear anything, a bomb's noise broke in my eardrums.
There were no movement around me, only the thick smoke. I dropped my weapon and started walking. I slowly reclaimed my hearing, and I now could hear the quite crying and the screaming from the far. I was searching. I wasn't at my right mind, but I knew I was searching for someone or for someones.
"platoon"
The word woke me up, adrenalin rushed through my veins, and the numb pain that I felt until now dissapeared. I turned to my right then to my left side. Blood, blood, an arm, more blood. A burnt body with his left leg missing. Guns, pistols and crazy looking swords. Then it hit me. The enemies we fought with...orks. I started spinning around, tried to spot even a tiny bit of movement, but there was nothing. I fell on my knees and screamed louder than ever. And I screamed and screamed and screamed...
- Colonel!...Colonel Sophia!!
I woke up with tears. I was on the floor next to my bed. My leg still hurted from when I kicked my doss. I held my teares and looked dead in the eyes to the guy who woke me. The blood ran out of his face and almost chocked.
- Lieutenant Colonel Benedict i-is waiting for you. He said he already left your platoon to Colonel Jamson whit his own platoon as well. -he said with shaking voice.
I looked at my dirty, old watch. I've had half an hour to get ready. I got up and started to pack without saying anything to the poor guy, who standt in the doorway. When I noticed him not leaving, I rolled my eyes.
- You're dismissed!
- Y-Yes Colonel! - he screamed with a girly voice and left in a rush.
Walking to the car that was supposed to take us to the designeted place my anxiety just rised and rised. The dream vividely played through my mind like it was in a loop, memories of the day popped up.
I stopped in front of the car, dirty green as everything in the army, but I couldn't get myself to get in. Benedict stood next to me and lighted a smoke. I looked at him with dissapointment.
- What? This might be the last time I can smoke in peace.
- Right...
He saw the fear on my face, and took a deep breath.
- You want some? - he asked and offered his cigarett. I've never smoked before..but...
I cought. He laughed.
- Why did you take it if you don't smoke? - Benedict asked laughing. I looked at him with seriousness.
- You said it before; this might be the last time I can smoke peacefully.
He just nodded and smoked the left cigarett.
When we got in the car, I fell asleep. I dreamt again the war, where I lost my whole platoon except for one man, the war, where I lost control and killed thousands of orks within minutes. I dreamt about the war, where the soldier's magic didn't count, only mine did.
When I opened my eyes I realised Benedict fell asleep as well, and that we didn't have much time left before arriving. The car soon stopped, the Warrant Officer who drove got out and opened the door for us, then asked for our packages.
The camp was noisy, as every camp I've ever saw. Colonels screaming to their platoons while doing push ups, a few soldiers ran across us whit big, heavy backpacks, the higher ranked soldiers were slowly walking, looking at their army.
I almost chocked on my salvia when I realised the Field Marshal was walking towards us.
- You must be Lieutenant Colonel Benedict. - he said, and Benedict saluted. The Field Marshal grinned, then his gaze flew over to me. His smile instantly dissapeared, and only disgust stayed.
- So you're the girl who everybody talks about. The 13 year old who killed her platoon and some orks, huh? The weapon.
I didn't say anything, just looked at the ground. He was wrong, but who would believe me?
- Excuse me Sir, but I believe you're wrong. - it was the General. Dirty blond hair and deep green eyes. He stood there powerfully. Benedict looked confused, and I raised up my chin.
- And why is it that I'm wrong, General?
- Firstly, Colonel Sophia is not a weapon, she's a powerfull magician who can use all kinds of magic. Secoundly, she was not the one who ended the platoon but the more than thousand orks who she killed in her rage after loosing her men. After the fight, she was ranked up to be a Colonel.
The General listened quietly, then growled, turned and walked away screaming with one of the Sergeant who, unfortunately, happened to be there. When he left, Benedict burst out laughing, and so did the General. But I could think of anything other than my platoon.
- Are you okay Colonel? - asked the General. "No, I'm not.."
I nodded, 'cause what else could I do?
- Where are our tents? - I asked to break the silence.
- I thought you were informed, but a few of our tents burnt down. We managed to save one over for you two, but you would have to share...if that's a problem we can talk with the soldiers and..--
- No need, it'll be fine. - I said and looked over to Benedict. He nodded, and grabbed our things.
- Let's go Colonel! I want to sleep, but firstly to eat something! - he said, and started walking into the camp.
