"Single file. Please stop and grab your suit." A man said as they all headed up a flight of stairs.
"Shhh, it's okay Shaun." Evelyn said to the baby as he stirred a bit. Walt began to wonder. What was going to happen? Would they have food for all of them? Would Shaun grow up in this cold, dark, damp cave like structure? Evelyn must've noticed, since she placed her hand on his cheek.
"Everything will be alright, as long as we stick together." She said softly, still moving ahead of him in line.
"Yeah.. Just need to calm down." He said to himself, he hadn't felt this stressed since being in service. They walked through the odd lighting up contraptions. They all three got the clear, so they grabbed the suits and began walking down the hall. Behind this doctor.
"Welcome to Vault 111. Your new home." He said kindly. Leading them down the hall to a room full of… Pods?
"Alright please find your respected pods. Change into your suits." The doctor said.
Walt shamelessly changed into the suit, blue and yellow with a giant '111' on the back. Evelyn handed Shaun over to him as she shyly changed into her own. Her face was completely red, embarrassed of anyone seeing her body. She changed quite quickly and Shaun returned in her arms.
"Alright everyone, please enter your pod and relax." The doctor instructed. Walt did so, sitting in it. He watched as Evelyn did the same, a little shakily. The pods closed. That was the moment that he realized that he was indeed claustrophobic. This stressed him out, but he breathed deep breaths to calm himself. Watching as his loving wife placed her hand on the glass of her pod, he did the same. Then everything went dark. It was so fucking cold.
Just as it started, it ended.
A robotic voice coming over the intercoms
'Cryo status suspended for maintenance' it said loudly.
Walt had awoken and didn't like the display before him. Three people. None of them Vault Tech. None of them the doctor. They must've broke in. But how? Survivors?
They all approached one pod. Evelyn's. The person in a full jump suit pointed to it, acknowledging that there was an infant in it.
Walt began to bang on the inside of his pod, anger washed over him. What was happening? Everything was fuzzy. They tried to take Shaun from her, but she wouldn't let them. She grasped onto him and wouldn't let go. Then the man pulled a gun.
"No!!" Walt yelled banging on the glass as hard as he could.
"I won't let you take Shaun!" Evelyn said pulling the baby away from the people.
"Let the baby go or I'll have to end this." The man dressed in black said, still pointing the gun at her. One silent moment passed and then a gun shot rang out.
Walt watched as the love of his life went taught. Her body going limp. Blood dripping from the whole between her eyes. She… Was dead.
Walt jolted up in a cold sweat. He looked around trying to regain himself. He realized where he was, Sanctuary Hills. Where he had brought back Preston and those settlers. It was all just a dream. A nightmare that actually happened. It had only been a few days since he emerged from the vault. He had already made new friends.. Preston Garvey and the settlers he helped in Concord. He was just a mystery to them, he told them nothing. Just saved them and said he used to live here. He even killed that giant horned beast Mama Murphy had warned him about.
These last few days had been hell. Missing Evelyn, constantly doing things for the people of Sanctuary Hills, and taking care of his new companion. Speaking of which the German Shepard lifted his head, standing and stretching. He yawned and waddled sleepily over to Walt, he snuggled to the man in an attempt to get him to rest some more.
But Walt was awake now, that meant getting on the move. He checked his Pip-boy, the odd device that he placed on his wrist before leaving Vault 111.
4:23 am
Best sleep he had gotten in the last couple days. Anything over 2 hours was a good thing now-a-days.
