Chapter 7 - Hopeless

Laying flat in the ground facing the rough ceiling of the cave, Lance was deep in thought as he assessed what happened earlier. 2 hours ago when he was doing the last posture for the beginner rank, his body heated up and in fact, it continued to increase after he endured for hours. Thinking about what transpired, Lance found no mistakes in his performance. He did the right posture and balance coupled with his endurance that could last for at least 6 hours, he found it difficult to pinpoint the faults he needed to locate. Contemplating for another 2 hours, Lance still did not find the right solution to solve the problem. No other options, he decided to build up his endurance and hoped that he could endure for at least 15 hours, the next time he performed the 1 leg air sitting posture. The next day, Lance was found under the raging waterfall. He was sitting in the air while embracing an estimated 40-kilogram rock while enduring the water falling up above. Lance was doing this every half a day and in the afternoon he jog deep in the forest to increase his stamina. Doing this routine for another 3 weeks Lance once again gained the confidence to continue what he had left last time. "I should be able to accomplish it today. I have to endure and persevere." Lance motivated himself. Once again Lance performed the 1 leg air sitting posture, he raised his left leg forward and placed both palms in his stomach afterward he closed his eyes and started to meditate. Feeling every part of his body and heartbeat, Lance started to feel the heating sensation once again. He continued to feel the sensation and immersed himself in the heat. As he continued in this situation 6 hours passed by, Lance's body was like a burning stove as his sweat vaporized and his surroundings were filled with his steam. Nothing happened so he continued, 5 hours later his whole body turned deep red due to the heat released within his body. Continuing this hellish torture, Lance was holding the last of his rope. No one can survive in this kind of heat temperature if an ordinary person in his previous life tries to experience this kind of training and in fact, someone like Lance who used to be an ordinary earthling to be able to endure for a long time without breaking mentally is already a great fit itself. Lance cannot be blamed if he failed in today's attempt because he already tried his best and gave his all. Enduring for another 2 hours, Lance was almost out of sweat and he found it difficult to breathe. Suddenly tears gushed out from Lance's eyes, he actually cried. Surprised by his own reaction he remembered all the training he had undergone these past 4 months, melancholy, sadness, and especially hopelessness washed over him. He now knew why his body cried despite his still burning fighting spirit. Despite the sadness and tears he still continued to endure, hoping that he would at least gain a little progress for the past hardships and struggles he had experienced. Another 3 hours had passed Lance's is at his limit but he refused to give up, he tried to endure and motivate himself to persevere.

" I can do this! If I give up now it's all over!." He consoled

Amidst his raging spirit, his body heat actually started to recede without reaching the most decisive moment.

He panicked " No no how is this possible!? Don't toy with me!. After all, I have done it! This is the result I got?" Lance exclaimed. He tried to salvage the situation but unfortunately, his body temperature still continued to recede until his body temperature returned back to normal. Lance fell limp to the ground and a moment later he howled in despair

" Why! Wahhh" he cried for a while before sitting up. Lance's spirited eyes lost their vigor as if losing his soul he tried to stand up and head out. When he was about to leave the cave a voice was heard addressing him from behind. " Your training and practice were not wasted, kid. Especially when you displayed the different postures of the manual, they looked perfect and well balanced. It's just every human being has a unique body and constitution. Basic manuals are not always suitable for all.

That is why unique training manuals or what we call manual arts are developed to train people with a unique physical constitution." After saying his piece the old man once again tossed a book with a silver cover to him. Lance was puzzled. " What is this?" he asked. " It's a unique magical warrior manual that I have. I never trained that manual before, it's yours now. Do what you want with it. If you have a unique constitution you might succeed using that manual." The old man replied. Hearing the old man's words Lance laughed in frustration " Are you kidding me!? Why should I continue this bullshit!?" then Lance threw the book into the ground

"Thud"

Seemingly unaffected by Lance tantrum, the old man maintained the same calmed expression and said, " it's up to you to decide whether you give up your dreams and die in humiliation or continue to train to bet your all for a small hope which lies in that book, it's your choice to make.". After replying to Lance the old man expressionlessly turned around and headed back inside the cave. Lance was left standing outside, stunned by the old man's words. Minutes later Lance gained his composure, he picked up the book and walked away.
