Chapter 2 - My Bed Mate

"Hi Miss" He said with a smooth demeanor.

"I'm Donald, what is your name?"

Alina glared at the total stranger in front of her and many questions ran through her mind.

"My name? Why are you asking?" The lady asked, giving him a suspicious glare.
"The last time I checked, you've not been registered in my diary. So, why should I tell you my name? What for?" She demanded.

Her eyebrow pressed against themselves and she folded her hands, standing in a defensive pose.

The man in front of her noticed this sudden change in attitude and went further to calm her before she misunderstood his intentions.

"Well, I'd like to know you better. I mean... I want to be a friend to you" He said with a wink

She hissed at his words. Such an unserious man, he dared to flirt with her. Her?

"As you can see, I'm not here for that. I'm here for a serious matter. An official business at that. Incase you've forgotten, today is Monday. I believe you should be busy with something reasonable as a man." She replied harshly.

As she furrowed her eyebrows and narrowed her eyes she accidentally locked eyes with him. He had a confident and daring look in his eyes, something she didn't expect him to possess. He smiled as their eyes met, which ticked her off, but she decided to quickly took her mind off of it.

Before he could continue the conversation, she quickly waved him off and departed from his presence, refusing to glance in his direction as she sped away.

"I don't have time for this" She muttered under her breath.

She walked up the stairs to the first floor where she saw the elevator which she hurriedly entered, frantically pressing the buttons to take her to the floor she wanted to reach. As the Elevator slowly closed and took her to the floor, she stepped out quickly and went to the office she was supposed to go to.

"Good morning Miss, I'm from Roseth Califord Company. You were expecting me for the proposed project. Is the Director on seat?" The lady asked, speaking to the receptionist who sat behind her desk, sorting out paperwork with a frown on her face. Clearly she wasn't having a good day.
"Yes, he is. Allow me to put a call through Miss." She said dryly, picking the telecommunication device and dialed the office of her superior.
"Okay, thank you very much" She answered the receptionist, who ignored her and focused on reaching through to the Director.

"Good morning sir, a representative from the Roseth Califord Company is here. Should I let her in." The Receptionist's voice rang out.
"No, not yet. I'm currently busy, I'll call you as soon as I'm done." A voice responded from the telephone.
"Okay sir." She said, promptly cutting the line immediately.
The receptionist turned to her and gave her a knowing glance.
"Lady, the Director is busy as we speak. He will call for you when he's done." She said.

"O-Oh... Okay, thank you so much." She answered, still showing a brilliant and optimistic smile.

[Two Hours Later]

"Please Madam, is the Director still busy?" She asked with a frowning expression, now getting impatient from waiting for so long.

"This is past 11 please. Are you sure the director is on seat?" She furthered.

The Receptionist groaned at the lady's words under her breath and picked up the telephone dialer to make another call to address her complaints.

"Hello Director, the lady from the company is still here, should she come back some other time?" The Receptionist said, rolling her eyes as she asked the Director.

"As it stands, I'm busy. If she can wait 30minutes more, I'll try to conclude things here so that I can attend to her."

"Thirty minutes? Busy? Oh my gosh... This man" She muttered to herself as she overhead the Director from the telephone speakers

"He must be a joker" She thought.

Of course, she couldn't say this out loud, so she decided to continue her diplomatic approach.
"Okay, it fine." She said, controlling her patience.
"She said it's fine, she'll wait." The Receptionist said to the Director.
"Alright then, let her in after 30minutes." The Director said from the speaker.

Thirty minutes passed in the blink of an eye, and no one told her before she stood up and approached the door to the Director's office.

She knocked in a dignified, yet urgent manner. As her hands slowly banged the door, she felt the tingling sensation on the other side of her palm.

"Please come in" A voice from within told her, which she obeyed promptly.

"The Director was not on seat. She saw him by the far left corner of his office, taking something from this shelf when she entered

"Good afternoon sir, I'm Alina from The Roseth Califord Company. I'm here for the proposed project." She said, stating her name in an official manner.

He turned his back to concentrate on what the lady behind him was saying, and the both of them could not believe what their eyes saw.

"The workaholic lady?!" His thoughts rang.

"It's you again!" She exclaimed, shocked by the sight before her.
"Yes It's me." He let out a slight chuckle when he saw her surprised expression.
" Hold on... Are you the director of this organization?" She blurted out in disbelief.

"Actually, my father was. However, he will be retiring in few months time." He smiled as he walked closer to his desk, leaving the bookshelf corner.

They both stared at themselves awkwardly and, for a moment, silence enveloped the two of them.

"So, we meet again." He grinned widely, breaking the unbearable silence.

"Oh! Yes, sure" She chuckled as she felt too embarrassed to actually say anything else

"Ahhhmmm, I wasssss, ah! Yeah! I'm here based on the project with out company. So, ahhhhh! Okay!" She struggled to form the words to say.

"Okay...?" He let out a small laugh as she groaned for her loss of words.

"Yeah... You know what, let's forget about the project for now. I want to know you better. As you can see I'm single and I need an hard working, serious and intelligent friend. Let's be friends at least." He said to her, shooting his best charming look at her.

Her face cringed at his words as she was shocked by his overly direct approach. However, she wasn't in any position to criticize his words or tell him off

"I guess I'll just go along with this... For now" She thought within herself.

"I'd like us to talk about the project first then we can talk about that later" She said, quickly cutting him short as he furthered his talk.

"Later? Okay, shall we…" He said, gesturing for her to have her seat while they discussed, taking his own seat as well.

"Oh! Thank you so much for the enlightenment and I trust that our company will not regret dealing with you. Thank you so much once again, Miss...?" He asked with his voice trailing.

Donald, as he introduced himself to her, smiled knowingly at her.

"Alina." She said, smiling softly, while shaking her head.

He smiled.

"Light... Alina means light. I'll be happy if you'll be willing to be a light to my world." He smiled at her with a wink.

"You know what? I must get back to work before my director close for the day. Piling jobs is not my thing. We may see some other time. Thank you so much for partnering with us and we won't disappoint you." Alina hurriedly replied, standing from her seat swiftly.
He nodded as she stood up, turning away from him and headed towards the door.

As she was about to leave, she suddenly heard a melodious voice singing a song. The rythm, the rhymes, the lyrics... She knew them all. The song he sang was none other than her favourite song, a song she'd love to hear even in her dreams

"You're the light to my path
The ribs that complete me
I'm in love when I saw you
I was afraid to tell you
Now I've told you
Do not let me down oh oh oh"

The voice sounded so soft and sweet as the soothing tone embraced her body, causing her skin to shiver. She could feel an emotional welling up within her.

She turned back to see who had just sang the song, and as she turned there he was. Donald was directly behind her. There was eye contact, as they exchanged passionate looks within the windows of their souls.

Donald moved even closer to her, seizing the moment and acting on the mood that was set. She felt drawn to him, she couldn't explain why. When last had she felt this way? She couldn't recall. But thus feeling, the warm spark she felt in her heart as she gazed upon his face and glistening eyes... She just couldn't explain it.
They were slow in their movements, lip met with lip as they made contact softly. Finally, as Donald was about to take advantage of the moment Alina slapped him and rushed out of his office with her heart racing.
"W-What have I done?!" She questioned herself as she ran out, slamming the door behind her.
