The rift opened up into the pink sky in the shape of a blossoming rose.
The day that Ava met Omir happened to be a on an allighnment that only occurred once in 24000 years.
There was a riot that day in the land, the war of an era was still underway, the war had been named as such because it had lasted the time span of a generation having been born, grown and died. The war had lasted so long that childeren were being trained for combat instead of schooled, as a result the society had lost out on technological advances that it would have otherwise gained had they not been in conflict. Great minds that would have perhaps created advanced technology were instead slain on the battlefield. The universes, seeming to need to balance themselves out, sent Omir into the loop.
Ava was one of the few individuals who had seen the rift open up, the specticle making her feel terrified and curious.
Ava rode upon a large horse that was 2 woman tall, covering the distance in a what she had then considered to be a flash compared to what she was about to be introduced to.
Ava arrived upon Omir who was just awakenkng from being knocked unconcious.
"You sir, how did you arrive from the clouds?"
Ava had a lance to his throat but Omir couldnt understand what she was saying, he just laid there cluthing the lamp with the gold top.
Ava jumped down from her horse before Omir passed out.
Familar scents wafted Omir awake. Ava burned insense composed of cats blood, orris, frankincense, tonka and ginger. These were the ingridients that she had been out collecting, she had been saving them year in and year out so that she could do a sumfugation to rid her land of the awful war that had plaughed them.
Transporting through the rift had scarred Omirs face, Ava had placed a salve onto it hoping that the scarring wouldnt be serious.
Ava approached Omir and told him to speak at which point he began to tell his story. She had on the alter the piece of magical equipment that he had brought with him. Ava had experience with these sorts if items but she did not dare to open it, she certainly did not touch it with her bare hands and she did all she could not to look at it.
Omir sat up, wincing as Ava handed him a hot beverage, it was a beverage that would enable them to communicate with one another. It would not take long for Omir to learn Avas language however and it would not take long for her to learn his.
Ava knew that she had stumbled upon something, this man could be the one that would help her to change the destiny of her home planet.
Monthes passed before Ava managed to get Omir into her lab, each move concise, the secret passage itself possibly containing someone who, for the right price might tell someone about Omir.
The sewers were made from a cheap morter that could not contain the drainage, sometimes people would fall through a hole in the ground and into the sewer.
Ava had spent years assembling a lab in secret in the sewer, which had been no easy task. Few travelled to the sewers due to the legends that surrounded them.
According to some legends the tunnels were haunted by creatures in the midst of extinction.
On the first night back the two drifted off to sleep, dreams began to possess Avas mind again. She could see the towers again, the scent of blood, strong with iron began to fill the room.
The journey through the tunnel back to Avas lab was long, the two having to stop to rest after 12 or more hours. Most nights had gone by uneventful which had led to Ava lowering her guard.
On the seventh night Ava was awoken abruptly to the sounds of screaming, the last thing she seen of Omir was his face being pulled off into the midst.
The creature, having gained the lamp that fell from Omir decided to leave Omir behind.
A buata was more cunning than most animals, it was similar to a pig but it resembled a sort of miniature wooley mamoth in a way. They knew how to bargain also, placing them in par with humans, this one knew that it had stumbled upon a treasure to precious to let go of.
Omir, having glanced at the creature tried to convey the horrible consequences of confronting this creature by drawing images with a bone on a cave wall. Omir had also managed to find the skull of an animal, thinking it a great piece of armor to protect him from the creature which he claimed to have wrestled while Ava slept, Omir wore it as a helmet. It seemed like Omir was a great story teller, most people would just call them lies.
Thousands of years would pass until someone would see what Omir drew, they would try to decipher it, some would say that it was the wild imagination of someone who was on some type of narcotic, something Ava did not think was far from Omirs potential.
She had noticed that he had a pouch with him, he would often reach into it, consuming the substance with glee but moments later it would ware off. She guessed that it was some sort of halacigenic mixed with a stimulant. When she went to go grab for some Omir smacked her hand away like a child being told no. In Omirs culture the substance was only availabe to woman. He made this clear by pointing at his crotch then pointing at Avas.
"Fuck you Omir" Ava said, she figured it was some machoism thing.
"Me, Ava" she said, you, pointing at him but he seemed to take offense to this, he felt like he was being belitteled by a woman.
One night the creature managed to again drag Omir away, this time taking him back to the lair. Ava had counted in this, placing a magnetic sensor on Omir that had a kinetic link to a piece of fiber worn bu Omir.
Ava knew that the buata would not come off of Omir nor the lamp cheaply.
Ava approached the lair of the creature where Omir was being forced to haul large pieces of furniture up mounds of treasure. Ava knew that she had to get the lamp back along with recovering Omir alive. As far as Ava knew this magical creature for some reason had never been able to be killed or captured.
Ava approached the being with reverence, knowing that the only way would be to bargain with it openly.
The beast stood, Omir was gagged.
"You there, what do you seek?"
The beast seemed remarkably excited by her prescence instead of infuriated by it which was a relief to Ava.
"I seek the man that you stole in the middle of the night along with the lamp."
The creature laughed, seeming to think that this was funny before jumpimg off of its thrown, sliding down a hoard of treasure to land onto Ava. The tusk that curled poked into Avas ribs.
"They are mine now!"
The creatures tone seemed to change all of the sudden before changing again.
"Ok, you may have your items back." Ava at first became excited then skepticle. "If!", the creature roared. "You can answer this riddle."
Ava did not expect this however, for both of thier sakes it was something that she was prepared for. Ava has a relative who loved to tell riddels.
"I dig but have never dug. I live in a palace but never sleep. I have a friend in my house that is also my enemy. Answer this riddle and you may have both of the things back that you desire."
Ava had never heard this riddle before but she was prepared to guess.
"The king of spades!" Ava answered.
The beast stomped, huffing and snorting, not believing that she had gotten it right.
The two left the prescense of this magical creature before continuing thier journey.
