"This…This is all you have?" The commander said, his quiet tone only accentuating his anger and disappointment.
"My deepest apologies, sir," The first captain started. "but-"
"No excuses!"
The third captain spoke up, eager to gain recognition for his contributions.
"Sir, according the reports from my men, it was the slave Esmeralda who went around with a letter of appointment from Jacob, purchased all the slaves, hired all the workers, bought and established the pleasure house, yet now all the slaves and the pleasure house are owned by a mage named Quinn, with the exception of one slave who is owned by a peasant. Perhaps this Quinn might be worth questioning?"
The commander nodded.
"Bring her in, but carefully. If her complicity can't be proven then we'll have trouble with the academy, her sponsor, and if she's a noble, then with her family as well."
The commander turned to the second captain.
