VIVIAN
When Nila woke up the men were chased out of the room, the Marquis included.
"Vivian's here to see you," Dahlia told her.
Nila sat up in bed. I waited for Dahlia to gesture before I approached. The last thing Nila needed at this moment was the feeling of a crowd closing in on her, or of being a spectacle.
"I came as soon as I heard," I said.
Nila smiled wanly.
"Thank you. I'm okay, though. I'm used to worse. It was just a little bit of a shock, to experience that again after so long."
"You should've never experienced it at all."
Nila almost snorted.
"As if that's possible."
I decided not to pursue the topic. For the beast-kin of Prandia such thoughts were nothing but fantasy.
"Do you remember anything about your attackers? Any detail could help us identify them."
"For what?"
"So that we can catch them, of course."
"What good would that do? It's already over."
