Chapter 103 - Growth

The guards at the gate into winterhold examined alastairs group but didn't stop them from entering after recognizing most of them. the streets of winterhold were nearly empty as most of the residents had gone home for the night. this was perfect for alastair as it meant there would be very few people who would recognize his group. eve was astounded by the strange architecture and dense magicka currents that flowed through the city thanks to the enchantments on the buildings. soon the group arrived at the residence that was set aside for alastairs group at the edge of the city on the waters surface.

Opening the round door soft steady light illuminates the group surprising eve once again since there was no heat accompanying the light. this meant that the source of the light wasn't fire which besides a few spells the summoned temporary orbs of light she couldn't think of what could do it. "this place is like a magical holy land." she couldn't help but mutter. alastair smirked "before i arrived the city was considered the magical center of skyrim but the city itself didn't reflect that so i decided to fix that , this is the result." he explained smugly.

"Couldn't you have just helped raise the city up normally?" eve asked confused. alastair scoffed "yeah , if i felt like being here for the next decade doing only that." he said sarcastically. "aren't you immortal?" she asked still not seeing the problem. "yes i am , but they are not." alastair motioned to the rest of the group. "ah , i didn't think of that." eve said enlightened. "if i was alone i may have stretched it out like you suggested but i am not so i chose the fastest method." alastair explained honestly.

Walking through the top floor of the building was fairly uneventful since it was little more than a greeting area. the lower levels however were entirely different as the size of the lower floors expanded outwards massively below the waves like an iceberg with only the tip out of the water. the second floor was devoted to the bedrooms and had a total of twelve with only four currently in use. after eve picked out one of the remaining rooms for herself the rest of the group minus alastair and eve went to their own rooms while alastair continued the tour.

The third floor was even large than the second floor and served as a massive crafting area that was outfitted with the best equipment for any crafting profession curtesy of brynjolf. eve herself was a fairly skilled light armor craftsman and practically drooled over the equipment made of ebony and wyrmwood. practically dragging eve out of the crafting floor he showed her the fourth floor that was a massive highly regulated herb garden that could grow any plant known including the near extinct ebonthread plant. the fifth and final floor was the training area with durable mobile puppets enchanted to rate ones performance and a huge area for spells.

Eve settled in her new home easily after she was introduced around winterhold as an astronomer by alastair which he used to explain why she was never seen during the day. many were suspicious at first but were easily convinced when eve started naming not well known constellations and what they represent. she was so knowledgeable that even savos was convinced of her forged identity to the point of offering her an honorary position in the college. speaking of the college alastair had made urag look like a kid on christmas when he traded all of the second era books for a copy of them.

Out of the small libraries worth of books about thirty five of them were skill books of which alastair took the copies of , but didn't have urag give him any copies of the rest since they were nearly useless to him since he didn't care about history. six of the skill books were for small weapons boosting that skill by twenty three points. nine of the books were for archery boosting that skill by thirty four points. six of the books were for medicine boosting the skill by twenty five points. four of the book were for magic boosting the skill by twelve. and the final ten books were all for repair boosting the skill by thirty eight points.

This massive increase in knowledge didn't put alastair in a coma but he had a terrible headache for the next three days. pure skill wise alastair could be considered on par with the three god-kings who used to rule over morrowwind. this wasn't to say he was as powerful as they were only that his knowledge was on the same level. in order to actually reach that level of pure power alastair would need to raise his special stats by about a hundred points each.
