"I want to eat lunch with Ges–" she stopped mid-sentence, suddenly aware that they both were not the only ones inside the car. "Alright, I'll eat it."
Her decision made the man sitting beside him sigh in relief. Gibran continued to eye Syakila who ate like she had no appetite, even after her stomach was rumbling loudly just seconds ago.
"Take a spoonful of it and eat more," Gibran said impatiently. Now, he breathes out heavily to control his emotions.
Truthfully, Gibran himself didn't get why he was worried about his fiancee. The first time he met Syakila, he only knew one thing. She had dead eyes with a forlorn stare. However, after spending some time with her, he noticed cut marks on her arm. He was also aware that she often locked herself in her room. Every time Gibran visited to meet her, he knew how her father dragged her from her room and forced her to smile, showing that she was fine in front of Gibran.
