Hello everyone, Novaflame6_Badal here! Hopefully, you guys enjoyed the last chapter somewhat. We're finally going to be introduced to the main cast this chapter so things should be a bit clearer.
As for future villains... most will be original characters, but.... they'll be based on the demons from Fairy tail. I'm undecided if I should incorporate the Evil or Fallen Stars from Saint Seiya... it is possible I'm just not sure yet. The combative abilities of the main cast will be sort of a combination between magic from Fairy tail and Cosmos from Saint Seiya. Most will be based on Saint Seiya Omega.
I don't own Saint Seiya Omega, Fairy Tail, or Rwby and their characters. Those belong to their respective creators, I only own the oc's who appear in this story.
Chapter 2: Ruby Rose and Initiation
Three months after arriving in Vale, the dragonblade family and the tokyoheim family were starting to settle in a little with their new surroundings. One evening, a trio of siblings were walking back towards their home. The eldest being Maxwell Dragonblade, though he preferred to be called Max for short.
Max had dark skin like his father, long and fiery orange colored hair that went down to his shoulders, and golden eyes. He wore a black vest with an army green undershirt, a brown belt with beige pants that had a hole for his scaly tail, gray boots, silver fingerless gloves, and he had what looked to be steel gray bandages wrapped around his arms up to his wrists.
Next to him were his two siblings, Mist, and Kouga.
Mist wore a crimson skirt with the hole for her black and red striped tail, a purple shirt with a blue Jean jacket over it, brown fashionable boots, and feathered earrings. The earrings went with her golden eyes and her black and Crimson tipped horns.
Kouga wore bandages around his arms like Max did. He also wore a scaled blue and silver undershirt complimented by the his dark blue jacket, he had the hole for his scaly tail in the back of his sliver pants, a gold belt, with black shoes. His horns angled uniquely to where they framed his face, but weren't too close to his neck either. He had Emerald green eyes, a product of his birth parents.
The trio stopped at a Dust shop to fill up on viles (just in case) before heading home. They entered From Dust Til Dawn a minute later to purchase some extra dust. While Max went up to the front counter, Kouga looked at some other catalogs and music, while Mist browsed the store.
Ruby's p.ov.
I heard the store door open while looking through a weapons catalog. I briefly glanced over and saw 3 faunus enter the dust shop I was in. Entering a Dust shop isn't all that uncommon for faunus as Vale is generally pretty tolerant and accepting of them. From where I stood, the 3 who walked in... those weren't normal faunus.
"A family of Bull Faunus?"
At least that's what I initially thought, before spotting their tails. These weren't bull faunus.. they were some kind of lizard faunus. But that wasn't right either, what kind of faunus had horns like those ones? They were clearly not from around Vale and I didn't know of any country that had faunus like these three that walked into the store I was in currently.
One thing I did notice was that they all had pendants around their necks. The pendants looked like they were crystals of some kind, though it was hard to tell from where I was at.
I went back to listening to music while browsing the weapons catalog I was reading. Soon after that, there was the sound of a door opening and many footsteps entering the store. I paid it no mind and returned to what I was doing.
End p.o.v.
A man in a white suit with orange hair, brown pants, black shoes, and a matching bowler hat with a cane walked into the store ahead of a small crowd of men all in black suits with red ties.
"Please sir, I don't want any trouble. Just.. please, take the money!," The store clerk said.
The orange haired man leaned on the counter and smiled at him.
"Relax old timer, we're not here for your money. Grab the dust.," The man said looking towards his men.
Immediately the men in the black suits and red glasses began to fill their containers with dust after walking over to the tubes that had dust crystals in them. While the rest of them were doing this, one of the men tapped Ruby on the shoulder.
"Hey you, hands up where I can see 'em!," The man said.
Ruby didn't respond to which he saw why, she had headphones on, so the girl never heard him. She turned around with a confused expression until the man made a motion tapping on his ear, this signaled for her to take off the headphones. She did just that.
"Hands up and hand over all the dust you have!," The man threatened.
"Are... you mugging me?," Ruby asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes!," The man said.
The next thing anyone knew, the thug was sent flying out of the window by the girl he tried to mug. Ruby chased after him as she jumped through the broken glass of the shattered store window. Roman groaned at this, he hated being delayed.
Meanwhile, in another part of the store, another thug came up to Mist. The fusia haired girl noticed the man and scowled at him. She noticed he was obviously after the bag she carried on her shoulder.
"Hand over the bag, girlie. We know you have dust in that bag!," The man said trying to rip away her bag.
Mist the glared at him as her eyes became like that of a reptile.
"Let go of my bag, jerk!," Mist said before kicking the man.
She realized too late that she'd hit him harder than she intended as the thug was sent flying through the front door of the store. Mist chased after the thugs who were going towards the girl from earlier. Koga looked to Max who sighed and nodded for him to go on ahead.
"Sorry about your window, and the door... allow me to pay you back for those.," Max apologized to the Shopkeep.
The Shopkeep smiled at the teen, he appreciated the gesture.
"Thank you, come back here anytime and we can talk about it then. But.. I believe your friends may need some help out there first.," The shopkeep replied.
Max nodded and rushed outside to help his siblings and the girl in red from earlier.
Roman groans in annoyance at the ineptitude of his men, one little girl couldn't be that hard to beat.
"Oookay... get her!," Roman said slightly annoyed.
The men went after the girl, only to get bowled over by more men flying into them. The men that landed started backing up in fear of their attacker.
"đ˘ What, now?," Roman asked.
Just as the words left his mouth, he saw Mist land in front of the men with her pupils in slits.
"S-Stay away! Leave us alone, Monster!," The men cried in fear.
Koga who landed beside her slapped his hand against his forehead. These guys were real idiots to call her that.
Mist simply smiled as a dark shadow covered her eyes while they were closed.
"đ˘đ˘đ˘ Hooo.... Monster am I? Alright then you little maggots, let me show you a real monster then!," Mist said.
Before anyone could blink, Mist was in front of the crowd of thugs. She brought her leg down with enough force that it cracked the pavement and sent the men flying. After this display, Roman could feel himself sweating. He'd made a big mistake making the fusia haired girl angry.
Meanwhile, another thug came after Ruby from the side. He swung his blade down, only to have it caught and then broken by Koga.
"Look out!," Koga said pushing Ruby out if the way.
Ruby's eyes widened in horror before she saw Koga had caught the blade meant for her. She couldn't speak for a moment until Koga gained her attention.
"Are you alright?," He asked.
"Uh.. u-um... y-yeah, thanks.," Ruby said briefly stammering.
Koga smiled at her.
"No problem.," He said grinning at the girl.
The thug just looked at the blade surprised that it broke before getting launched by an elbow from Koga. Looking towards him, the girl in red nodded as the two began to fight off Roman's men back to back.
"By the way, I'm Ruby Rose. Thanks for the help earlier, um...?," The girl identified as Ruby started before realizing she didn't know the boy's name who saved her.
"Oh, right. The name's Kouga Dragonblade, just call me Kouga.," The teen said.
Ruby nodded as she smiled before focusing back on the fight.
Ruby gets Crescent Rose out of the ground and fires it off to hit another one with the butt of her weapon, sending him flying. She fires again and brings the side down on one attacker and dodges the next's gunfire with her rifle's speed, getting close enough to knock him into the air and follow him upwards so she can beat him away to Roman's feet.
Koga had been getting ganged up on for awhile. Finally getting tired of it, he dodged a leg swipe while catching a fist and batting it away. He then tail swiped a foe, before clothes lining another with his arm, before finishing the thugs off by back fisting the last one to Roman's feet.
The crime boss was seen clapping as he walked out of the dust shop.
"You two were worth every scent. Truly, you were. (He drops his cigar and then steps on it as he continues to approach the two teens, whipping out his cane in the process) (police sirens are heard nearby, meaning he had to get out of there and fast) Well Red, and Blue I'd say all things considered... it's been quite the eventful evening. As much as I would love to stick around with you you two.. I'm afraid this is where we part ways. I have places to be after all, so.. ta ta kiddies!," He said as he raised his cane as the bottom opened up to reveal a rifle with a crossairs on it.
The crook unleashed a red blast at Ruby, before it was blown to nothing by projectile from nearby. When the smoke cleared it was revealed that Max had blown away the projectile with one of his own. He sighed as he and Mist approached the the two teenagers.
"(Sighs exasperated) What have Mist and I told about charging in without a backup plan first?," Max asked.
"You could've gotten hurt, think before you act next time, Kou.," Mist said admonishing her younger brother.
Koga rubbed the back of his head embarrassed before briefly hanging it.
"S-Sorry big sis, big bro..," Koga said.
Max sighed again but then smiled before ruffling his adopted brother's hair.
"Look, Koga. We're... not mad at you. Just be more careful next time, okay?," Max said smiling.
Mist also smiled at him.
"I know you like to help people who look to be in trouble, but do us a favor and try not to be so reckless.," Mist said smiling at her little (younger) brother.
"Y-yeah, I'll try not to worry you guys so much. Heh heh.," Koga said rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment while grinning.
Max and Mist then look towards Ruby and smile at her.
"We're sorry if our brother caused you any trouble.," Max said in apology.
Ruby waved her hands in front of her face to sweep it aside.
"Huh? No no, if anything Koga really helped me! He... saved me actually.," Ruby said.
Max and Mist smiled at her. They'd only just met her, but this was a very charming girl from what they could tell. And she was so honest too. Her and koga would get along really well.
Unfortunately the crook had disappeared, as Ruby looked around for him. That is until Koga smelled something. He began to sniff something in the air.
"You smell something, Kou?," Mist asked.
"Yeah. It's that crook. He's... right over there!," Koga said pointing to another building.
Sure enough, he was seen climbing a ladder to the roof of another building. While she was surprised, Ruby knew they had to catch the crook. She looked to the store clerk.
"You mind if we go after him?," She asked.
The shopkeep just nodded.
Max nodded towards Mist as they also accompanied Ruby and Koga, chasing down the crook. He's seen running towards a bullhead before Ruby shouts to stop him in his tracks.
"Hey, Stop!," Ruby said shouting.
Roman stops and sighs before noticing two others with the boy and girl he encountered a few minutes ago.
"So... persistent. It appears we have more friends joining us, eh? Are you here to stop me too, Orange? Pink?," He said.
"đ˘ It's fusia actually. And, no.," Mist said slightly annoyed.
"We're just here to make sure our brother over here doesn't get himself into too much trouble.," Max said.
Roman shrugged before turning his attention back to the two teenagers walking forward to face him.
Both teens prepare to fight him, only for a bullhead to rise up with an open hatch. This allowed Roman to hop up into the transport as he held a red crystal in his hand.
"End of the line, Red and Blue.," Roman said as he threw it at their feet.
The crook then fired an explosive dust round at the crystal, resulting in a large explosion. The crook laughs as he thought that did in the pair of teens. He stops before seeing something on the roof.
"Whoa-ho-ho-ho! Huh?," He laughs before seeing something on top of the roof.
A woman in a purple cape is now in front of Ruby, casting a circle of protection over them with her wand. Ruby widens her eyes in excitement once she realizes what the woman is.
"A Huntress!," Ruby squealed in excitement.
The other teens look on with her, Glynda Goodwitch waves her weapon and summons several streaks of purple at the craft. Roman is thrown around in the back until he goes to the cockpit, where a woman in red, her face unseen, is struggling with the controls.
"A we got a Huntress!," He said annoyed and in slight panic.
The woman gets up and heads toward the back as Roman takes the controls.
Koga and Mist were ready to jump in and help, but Max puts up his arm to stop them.
"Wait. Let's.. let the Huntress handle this, I want to see what she can do.," Max said.
"Alright, if you think that's our best option.," Mist said.
"Oh alright, if you think that's what's best, brother.," Koga said.
Glynda glows purple for a moment and aims another blast above the craft, resulting in a dark storm-cloud right over the jet.
"The heck...?," Roman asked aloud in confusion.
With a flick of her wand, large jagged hail starts falling that pummels the jet and even breaks through the window, narrowly missing Roman's head.
The woman reaches the back and her arms and chest light up like fire, aiming a burst of energy at Glynda. The Huntress blocks it, but the flame splatters behind her and glows hot with the enemy's raised hand. Some of it heads for Ruby, only for Max to stick out his hand and absorb the stray flaming fireballs. The three horned teens eye the woman in red suspiciously, it was almost as if... they'd seen her somewhere before. But where?
Back to the fight, Glynda back-flips out of the explosion, which destroys part of the roof, and magically gathers the shards to create a large arrow, which she proceeds to throw at the craft. The fiery woman shatters the arrow with several blasts, but it reforms just in time to hit the side of the jet due to Roman's quick aerial lean. The wreckage separates and reshapes into more arrows that encircle the jet, but the woman summons several glowing rings around herself that expand and destroy the shards.
Ruby, finally acting, reverts her scythe into its rifle form to fire at the woman, who blocks each shot and creates several blazing circles around her two opponents. Glynda goes to move them, only for Max to absorb the flame from the circles into himself. He looked none the worse for wear and it surprised Glynda. But she couldn't think of that right now. Before she can act again though, she looks to see that the hatch has now closed and the craft was now flying away.
Ruby then looks to Glynda, putting on a pleading and awe stricken face before speaking.
"You're a Huntress! Can I have your Autograph?!," Ruby asked excitedly.
"đ This girl... she almost got killed and.. she wants an Autograph? She's... certainly an odd one.," Glynda inwardly thought sweatdropping.
She turns to Max with a look the teen knew well. He then turns to Mist and whispers.
"Better contact Mom and Dad, looks... like we'll be more than just a tad bit late getting home.," He said whispering to her.
Mist nodded and did as requested.
Glynda turns towards Max and speaks.
"And might I ask what that was back there, young man? You could have gotten very seriously injured!," Glynda asked.
Max looked her straight in the eyes and answered.
"I simply thought it was the best course of action at the time, ma'am. As the eldest of my siblings here, I have a duty and responsibility to protect them. Especially, my younger brother here, who seems to get himself into troublings situations alot... through no fault of his own... mostly.," Max answered.
"I see. Still, that was very dangerous and you could have been killed doing that!," Glynda said scolding him.
"I actually have an affinity for Flame, ma'am. That means I can absorb any type of flame, other than my own. That said, I do understand what you're telling me. I should have consulted you first, I apologize.," Max said in apology.
Glynda appeared to be astonished that a faunus would be so polite to her at first, but she quickly recovered by clearing her throat.
"Ahem! W-well in any case, there... I someone who wishes to speak to the four of you.," Glynda said.
The teens looked at each other in confusion.
"All... four of us?," Ruby asked puzzled.
Glynda nodded.
"Yes, if you all will follow me, I can take you to them.," Gkynda replied.
The teens briefly looked at each other before Max answered.
Very well, lead the way.," Max said trying to be as polite as possible.
The four teens then accompanied the blonde haired woman to where she was taking them.
Timeskip- Elsewhere in Vale
The scene cuts to Ruby's amazed face turn to one of shame as Glynda, with a tablet computer, paces around the table Ruby is seated at, right underneath a bright light in the otherwise dark room.
" I hope that you realize that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly, young lady. You put yourself and others in great danger.," Glynda said before briefly pausing and looking at the teen with red hair seated next to Ruby.
"And... the same goes for you, young man. What were you even thinking?," Glynda said exasperated.
"S-Sorry ma'am...," Koga said in apology.
"Hmmmmm? What was that?," Glynda asked again.
Koga froze temporarily before speaking up quickly.
"Yes, miss Glynda!," Koga said in response.
Ruby spoke up after that.
"But, they started it!," Ruby said.
Glynda sighed at this before speaking again.
"If it were up to me, you'd be sent home... With a pat on the back...," Glynda started before noticing Ruby's smile.
She continued.
"And a slap on the wrist... (Ruby and Koga both flinch and back up from her riding crop hitting the table, which Ruby barely avoids)
"Eek!," Ruby said as she flinched.
Glynda sighs and continues.
" But... there is someone here who would like to meet you two.," Glynda says as she gives way to the said individual.
She moves out of the way so a surprised Ruby and a curious Koga can see a man in green come through the doorway, holding a mug and a plate of cookies.
"Ruby Rose... (looks at her) you have silver eyes.," He says.
Ruby is more than a little weirded out by this and slightly backs flinches.
"Uh,um...," Ruby said a bit nervously.
The man speaks again.
"So! Where did you learn to do this?," The man asked as he gestures with his head towards the tablet Glynda placed onto the table with video feed of Ruby fighting.
"S-Signal Academy.," Ruby said nervous.
The man raised an eyebrow as he was now curious about what that response could mean.
"They taught you how to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?," The man asked.
Ruby laughed nervously.
"Well... one teacher in particular did.," Ruby answered.
"I see..., " The man said.
He puts the cookies on the table in front of Ruby. She takes one and begins to nibble on it as she looks to the others before chowing down.
"It's only that... I've only ever seen one scythe user of such skill before. That style belonging to a dusty old crow...," The man said.
Ruby instantly knew who the man spoke of as she tried to relay the fact while her mouth was full. Unfortunately no one understood her when she did.
"Oh! That's my uncle!," Ruby mumbled with her mouth full.
She then swallowed and wiped her mouth embarrassed that she tried to talk with her mouth full of cookies.
"Sorry. That's my Uncle Qrow! He's a teacher at Signal. I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing. And now, I'm all likeâ Hooowaaah! Witchaaaa!,"Ruby said as she proceeds to make karate style poses and noises.
"So I've noticed.," The man said as he places his cup on the table and leans in to stare at Ruby before he continues to speak.
"Tell me something, miss Rose. What is an adorable girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?," The man asked the girl.
Ruby answers him immediately, not even blinking in response.
"Well... I want to be a Huntress.," She answered.
"You want to slay monsters?," The man asked.
"Yeah! I only have two more years of training left at Signal! And then I'm going to apply to Beacon!," Ruby said in excitement.
It was obvious, she was very excited about becoming a Huntress due to her talking faster and faster as her enthusiasm grew.
"You see, my sister's starting there this year, and she's trying to become a Huntress, and I'm trying to become a Huntress 'cause I wanna help people. My parents always taught us to help others, so I thought, Hey, I might as well make a career out of it! (giggles) I mean the police are alright, but Huntsmen and Huntresses are just so much more romantic and exciting and cool and really, gosh, you know!", Ruby said as she flips out at the last part with a very wide and crazy smile as she stares at the man in front of her and Glynda off to the side.
Glynda and the man study her before the man in green spoke up again.
"Do you know who I am, miss Rose?," The man asked.
Ruby immediately answered with a smile.
"Of course I do! You're Professor Ozpin, the Headmaster at Beacon Academy!," Ruby said excited.
The man now identified as Ozpin then smiles as he speaks.
"Hello.," Ozpin said smiling.
"Nice to meet you.," Ruby said smiling back.
Ozpin looked at her and then spoke again.
"You want to come to my School?," Ozpin asked.
Ruby smiled excited.
"More than anything!," She replied showing her excitement.
Ozpin exchanges glances with Glynda who just turns away in disapproval. He sighs, but then returns his gaze to Ruby.
"Well, okay.," Ozpin said.
Ruby is seen smiling with wide eyes and an open mouth.
Ozpin then turns to the other 3 teens in the room.
"As for you three. You're all Faunus...," He said.
Mist raises an eyebrow before staring at him with her arms crossed.
"Is that a problem if we are?," She asked.
Ozpin shakes his head.
"No, at least.. I don't foresee it being an issue.," Ozpin replied.
He then continued.
Glynda then pulls up a video of the three teens fighting off Roman's men.
"Now then, I don't believe I've ever seen faunus use such an... unorthodox style of fighting as the three of you displayed. How or rather, where did you learn to fight like this?," Ozpin asked.
Max then spoke up to answer Ozpin's question.
"To answer your question, Mr Ozpin... Our parents taught us mostly everything we know about how to fight. They taught us that the fist can be mightier than the sword, but only if you train your whole body.," Max explained.
"If you train the right way, your entire body can become a deadly weapon even stronger than any dust weapon.," Mist answered.
"As for where the other part of our training took place... I remember our parents taking us somewhere to further our training into what we are now. However, we're not at liberty to say where that is right now.," Koga added.
"Oh? Is there some reason you can't divulge where that is?," Ozpin asked.
"Unfortunately sir, where we went... they asked to remain anonymous to mask their identity. It wouldn't be very favorable for them if the name of where they're located was known publicly.," Max said.
There was a glint of disappointment on Ozpin's face for a brief moment, before it was quickly replaced by his usual expression.
"I see... that is unfortunate. That said, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by your style of fighting. Your family, the Dragonblade's, has always had a very... unique way of fighting their battles. Like parent like child as they say.," Ozpin said.
The 3 teens stared at Ozpin cautiously after he mentioned their family name.
"This isn't surprising though, given that your parents are.. well, two of the most renowned Huntsman ever to come from Vale. Your parents are The Black Dragon Lord and The Crimson Maiden, correct?," Ozpin said.
Ruby looked over in shock as did Glynda at the mention of 2 of the most legendary Huntsman on the face of Remnant.
"And how exactly do you know our parents?," Mist asked suspicious.
"It's understandable you would be cautious of me. Your parents are former students of mine after all. They did graduate Beacon with the likes of Taiyang Xiao Long, Summer Rose, Raven Branwen, and Qrow Branwen.," Ozpin explained.
The teens relaxed, but were still cautious of the man. He spoke again.
"This may go against tradition, but I would extend to you three the same invitation that I did for miss Rose over there. Would you three consider coming to Beacon? This would extend to your pair of childhood friends of course, considering who their parents are.," Ozpin offered.
"Why us though? No offense, but I get the feeling that certain.. (looks at Glynda) staff of your school wouldn't be too keen about the idea of three random faunus teens joining your school.," Max said.
Ozpin smiled at the teens.
"You needn't worry about that. The faculty at my school would be aware of the reputation of your parents. They would know better than to badmouth the children of 2 legendary Huntsman. Think of this less an invitation and more of... an opportunity of sorts. It would provide you ample opportunity to grow as aspiring Huntsman and Huntresses or.. as people who are just trying to become stronger for those they love.," Ozpin said.
The trio of teens looked at each other and nodded.
"Believe it or not, mister Ozpin...," Koga started.
"Those are-," Mist continued.
"Exactly the wishes of our parents. It was their wish for us to attend Beacon to grow.. and be around other teens our own age.," Max said finishing their thoughts.
Ozpin smiled at this.
"Very well then. Maxwell Dragonblade. Mist Dragonblade. Koga Dragonblade. I welcome you three, along with miss Rose to Beacon. I will take care of any paperwork and expenses you may have for your transfer. Be sure to let your parents know this.," Ozpin said.
The Quartet of teens thanked him as they all were dismissed and sent home to their families.
Glynda looked to Ozpin.
"Ozpin, I know who their parents are but... are you certain that was a wise decision? You do know what kind of Faunus those three are, right?," Glynda asked worried.
He looked to her.
"The rarest kind of Faunus... as well as the most powerful... Dragon Faunus. Though, I'm not certain what type young Koga is... I have the feeling he was different... a type of Faunus that's never been seen before. But I digress.... We will make sure nothing happens.," Ozpin said.
The screen then fades to black.
Timeskip: 4 months later...
The scene changes again as Yang Xiao Long tackles her sister in a hug aboard the large Vale Airship to Beacon, crushing the air out of her.
"Oh, I can't believe my baby sister is going to Beacon with me! This is the best day ever!," Yang said happily hugging her sister.
Ruby felt herself gasping for her as she tried getting her sister to let go of her.
"Yang, please stop.," Ruby said gasping.
"But I'm so proud of you!", Yang said finally releasing her sister.
"Really Sis, it was nothing.," Ruby said trying to downplay the fact she got into Beacon early.
"What do you mean? It was incredible! Everyone at Beacon is going to think you're the bee's knees.," Yang said.
"I don't want to be the "bee's knees", okay? I don't want to be any kind of knees! I just want to be a normal girl with normal knees.," Ruby replied sighing.
"What's with you? Aren't you excited?," Yang asked.
"Of course I'm excited... I just... (sighs) I got moved ahead two years. I don't want people to think I'm special or anything.,"Ruby replied.
Yang goes over and gives Ruby a one armed hug to comfort her.
"But you are special, Rubes. And don't let anyone tell you that you're not.," Yang said encouraging her sister.
Just then a rather familiar voice spoke up over the newscast playing in the background.
"Your sister's right. You should listen to her, us elder siblings tend to know a thing or two about this.," a voice said.
Ruby heard footsteps and then recognized the owner of the voice.
"Oh, Max, Mist, and Koga! Nice to see you guys again!," Ruby said smiling.
The trio of teens greeted her cordially.
Ruby then smiled at Koga before going up to him and hugging him, this illicited a smirk from Yang at the interaction. Though the blonde chose not to say anything on the matter.
Koga was surprised until Ruby spoke up.
"Um... I know it's a little late, but that was to uh... you know thank you for saving me back then.," Ruby said looking down and fidgeting with her foot on the ground.
The Crimson haired teen looked at the girl and grinned while rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment.
"Oh, right. You're.. welcome I guess. I was just doing what any guy would do in that situation though, Ruby.," Koga replied.
Yang finally spoke up to ease the awkwardness.
"So... Ruby, are you going to introduce me to your friends here?," Yang asked.
"Huh? Oh! Yeah! Max, Mist , and Koga... this is my big sister, Yang Xiao Long.," Ruby said.
"Nice to meet you all. Rubes never told me you all were faunus though.," Yang said.
Mist raised an eyebrow.
"Is.. that a problem?," Mist asked.
"Nah, it's totally cool! Besides... I love your horns and tail! They're really pretty.," Yang said.
Mist felt her tail slightly wag at the compliment as she slightly stuttered.
"O-Oh well t-thanks Yang.," Mist stuttered.
"Don't mind my sis, she's just not used to being complimented for her animal features. But thanks for doing that, it means alot.," Max said greeting the blonde.
Yang looked at the teen as she shook his hand and smirked. She rather... liked what she saw from this guy.
"Hey, he's kinda cute... And pretty good lookin' if I do say so! Stop it, Yang! You can drool at him later!," Yang inwardly thought.
Max raised an eyebrow as he noticed Yang hadn't said anything for a minute.
"Are... you feeling alright?," He asked.
"Huh? Oh y-yeah! I'm fine. Thanks for looking after my sis. I really do think your sister's horns and tail are cool.," Yang said.
Max smiled at the blonde, Yang was pretty nice as far as he could tell. She was pretty too, he could tell alot of guys would be trying to get her attention not that he was focused on that or anything.
As if they remembered, the three faunus teens refocused, gesturing to the pair of dark skinned teens behind them.
"We almost forgot to introduce you to our childhood friends. This is Honoo Tokyoheim and Shoryu Tokyoheim.," Mist said.
Shoryu came forward first. Like they mentioned he was dark skinned with horns that went down towards his neck but then angled forward as if it framed his face. They were silver and blue in color, the same as his tail, hair, and eyes. He wore what looked to be a deep ocean blue jacket, with a black undershirt, gray jeans with a hole for his tail in the back of them, a brown belt, red sneakers, steel gray wristbands, and that same pendant that all of the other faunus teens wore around their necks. His was icy blue in color.
Next to him was his sister, Hon'oo. She was dark skinned too. She had beautiful long and black hair with purple highlights in it. This went well with her blue eyes and her horns that angled down towards her neck before going forward to frame her face. Her tail was black and purple, matching her horns. She wore a blue Jean jacket with a purple undershirt, a deep ocean blue skirt with what appeared to be tribal looking designs on it, the hole for her tail was in a modest place in the back. But it wasn't so big that it could be stepped on, it was just small enough to keep it out if reach from any grubby male hands that dared to try touching it or stepping on it. She wore sea blue fashionable boots and had feathered earrings to complete her look along with the sea blue pendant around her neck.
Ruby couldn't help but to stare at Hon'oo, she'd never seen anyone so pretty before (and no Ruby doesn't swing that way lol). She'd seen her fair share of beautiful girls before but.. Hon'oo was perhaps the most beautiful one she'd seen, and she was a faunus.
Ruby shook her head to snap out of her trance, she realized she got mesmerized by Hon'oo's beauty.
The other males who were there aside from in their own group couldn't help but to stare at Hon'oo. She seemed to have that effect one most guys her age for some reason and she never knew why. Thankfully, a hologram of Glynda provides enough of a distraction that students focus on it instead.
"Hello, and welcome to Beacon!," The Hologram of Glynda said.
"Who's that?," Yang asked.
"My name is Glynda Goodwitch.," The hologram said.
"Oh.," Yang said as her question was answered.
"You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy! Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future Huntsmen and Huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world.", The hologram finished as it disappeared.
Ruby spoke up as she stood up from her seat to look out of the window.
"Oh, wow! Look, you can see Signal from up here! I guess home isn't too far after all!," Ruby said excited as other students gaze at the school from the glass.
"Beacon's our home now, Rubes.," Yang said.
The teens then hear a passenger groaning and hunched over nearby, running to the back of the ship.
"Well... I guess the view isn't for everyone.," Yang said rolling her eyes.
"It was nice while it lasted.," Ruby said.
Max spotted something on Yang's shoe and figured it was a good time to bring it up.
"Yang, right?," Max asked gaining the blonde's attention.
"Yeah, that's me.," Yang said.
"Not to be "that guy" but.. um.. mind telling me what exactly that is on your shoe?," Max asked.
Yang was confused until she looked down.
"Huh? What do you mean what's on my-," Yang asked before she saw what it was Max mentioned.
She never finished her thought.
"Ah, Gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross!," Yang said trying to get the puke off of her shoe.
What happened next was a hilarious scene of Ruby running away from Yang while the blonde tried getting the puke off of her shoe with Ruby trying to avoid any of it getting on her. The other teens couldn't help but to laugh at this.
"Get-Get away! Get away from me! Get away from me! Get away from me! Get away from me!," Ruby said running from Yang.
Opening: Burn (Tales of Berseria) by Flow
Visuals: Main Cast introduced in the story so far (Dragonblade siblings, Ruby, and Yang) pans down from a calm sky towards Beacon where students some silhouetted fall down from the sky.
It then transitions to each character introduced so far fighting one grim, before the song picks up and they are seen fighting the grim together. The opening visual ends as the dragonblade siblings, silhouetted figures with Ruby and Yang then fight off an enemy presumably a villain before it pans back up to the sky.
The opening ends to a view of several ships carrying students and docking at the entrance of the school. As soon as one lands, Jaune Arc emerges and goes over to the nearest trash can, hunching over it as he loses his lunch.
Ruby, Yang, Max, Mist, Koga, Shoryu, and Hon'oo alongside several other students, walk out of the ship and head down the paved path to the front of the school.
Ruby is seen almost gawking as the teens take in the entirety of the school.
"Wow...," Ruby said in awe.
"The view from Vale's got nothin' on this!," Yang said.
"It is quite impressive, I'll have to admit.," Hon'oo said.
"Yeah... still doesn't have anything on Shura or Sanctuary though.," Koga mention offhandedly.
"That may be true, though this is still quite impressive to say the least.," Mist added.
"It is rather remarkable how they can build a school as impressive architecturally as this one is though.," Max said.
"Max's got a point there, Koga.," Shoryu said.
Ruby is seen getting so excited that she becomes a 2-D, starry-eyed, floating chibi.
"Ohmygosh, sis! That kid's got a collapsible staff! And she's got a fire sword! (Turns back into realistic proportions when Yang grabs her by the hood when she tries to get closer to the weapon) Ow! Ooww!",Ruby said.
Yang sighs and chuckles.
"Easy there, little sister. They're just weapons!",Yang said trying to calm down her sister.
"'Just weapons'? They're an extension of ourselves! They're a part of us! Oh, they're so cool!",Ruby said excited.
Yang raised eyebrow at this.
"Well, why can't you swoon over your own weapon? Aren't you happy with it?",Yang asked puzzled.
Ruby then transforms her dust weapon into its scythe mode.
"Of course I'm happy with Crescent Rose! I just really like seeing new ones. It's like meeting new people, but better...",Ruby said.
"Still not keen on meeting new people, are you Ruby?," Koga asked.
"I-it's different with you guys though! You're r-really nice a-and took the time to be patient with me.. other people uh... I don't know, if they'll do the same.," Ruby said not wanting to her new friends to dislike her.
Hon'oo and Mist smiled at the girl.
" Ruby, you'll never know if other people are like that if you never try and meet them.," Mist said.
"You may even meet some people you really like being around.," Hon'oo said.
"More than you guys? Nah, there's no way.," Ruby replied.
"A-and besides... why would I need friends if I have you guys?," Ruby responded.
The teens smiled at her before speaking.
"We appreciate that Ruby, but you can't learn to trust only people you know. Sometimes, growing means doing something you've never done before.," Hon'oo said sagely.
Ruby made a face at this. She knew Hon'oo was right, but she didn't have to go make new friends right away did she?
She turned to look at Yang.
"Yang?," Ruby asked.
"Well...," She started before a group of students had surrounded Yang and in a flash they were seen dashing down the road.
"Actually, my friends are here. Gotta go catch up. 'Kay, see ya, bye!," Yang said before taking off with the other group of students.
As she left, she whispered something into Max's ear.
"Can I ask you guys to stay with my sis for a while? I'm a little worried about her.," Yang asked whispering.
Max nodded in understanding.
"No need to worry, Yang. We'll stick with her for as long as she needs us to.," Max whispered back.
"Thanks. See you later, good looking~," Yang said whispering back.
Max was caught off guard when Yang said what she did, and involuntarily blushed.
"Ooo... kay? That girl is...definitely.. a very bold one.," Max thought sweatdropping.
Mist gave Max a look after that.
"Did she just try and put the moves on you already, brother?," Mist asked.
"đ đ¤ˇââď¸ I... honestly couldn't even tell you, sis. I don't know what "that" was exactly.," Max answered sweatdropping and shrugging in confusion.
Mist seemed to get the jist and just left it at that.
Ruby was spun around and was now dizzy eyed from her sister's sudden exit as she tried calling back to Yang.
"Wait, where are you going?! Are we supposed to go to our dorms? Where are our dorms? Do we have dorms? (She stops for a moment, still reeling from being spun around) I don't know what I'm doing...," Ruby said trying to still get her bearings.
Koga goes to stop her, but unfortunately couldn't get to her before she falls backwards into a luggage carrier. Her impact with the carrier sent cases flying. Someone is then seen standing over her.
A girl in white is seen standing over the dizzy Ruby. It certainly appeared that she was neither pleased or too happy about her luggage being knocked over.
"What are you doing?!," The girl asked upset.
Ruby gets up on her hands after realizing she made this new girl upset at her.
"Uh, sorry!," She apologized.
"Sorry?! Do you have any idea of the damage you could have caused?", The White haired girl asked angry.
Ruby holds up a case.
"Uhh...," Ruby says in confusion.
"Give me that!", the girl said snatching the case from Ruby before opening it and explaining what is contained inside.
"This is Dust - mined and purified from the Schnee quarry!", The Girl explained.
"Uuhhh....," Ruby said still puzzled.
"And that means?," Shoryu asked coming up next to Ruby.
The girl scoffed as she saw Shoryu and his sister.
"I wouldn't expect a lowly faunus liz-," She started but stopped short when Shoryu glared at her.
"đ˘Excuse me, but I know you weren't about to call my sister what I think you were... were you?," Shoryu asked giving the girl an icy glare.
"Excuse me, but I know you weren't about to call my sister what I think you were... were you?," Shoryu asked giving the girl an icy glare.
"uhh...," Ruby said breaking the tension.
The girl then turned her frustration to Ruby.
"What are you, brain-dead?," The girl asked.
She grabs a vial of red dust and hold it out for Ruby to see after shutting the case.
"Dust! Fire, water, lightning, energy!",The girl explained not realizing the energy was being poured onto Ruby's face causing her to start coughing.
"I... I know...",Ruby said continuing to cough as the dust pours onto her face.
"Are you even listening to me? Is any of this sinking in? What do you have to say for yourself?!", The girl asked still angry with Ruby.
"Hey uh... maybe you should-," Koga tried warning the girl about how much Dust she was waving into Ruby's face before being stopped by his brother.
"Don't bother Koga, she won't listen. We should back up, whatever happens... well we did try to warn her..," Max said.
The other teens knew what would happen and backed up to a safe distance to prepare for the inevitable.
Ruby, who had been receiving more and more Dust to her face, finally sneezes, which erupts into a full-blown explosion of flame, snowflakes, and electricity right onto Weiss. The bottle she had been holding flies over the courtyard and at the feet of Blake Belladonna, who picks it up and notices the Schnee Dust Company logo on the side as she reads from a book and looks over at the scene.
Mist sighs at this as she gave the girl a look that she didn't particularly like.
"My brother did try to warn you this would happen. You have no one to blame for this but yourself.," Mist said.
The girl took offense to this.
"What? Are you saying this is my fault? You all did nothing while this girl sneezed all over my clothes!," The White haired girl snapped back.
"Only because you wouldn't listen to my younger brother trying to warn you!," Mist argued back.
Hon'oo then walked up and separated the two. The girl didn't notice the dark skinned faunus girl before now, so she was confused as to where she suddenly came from.
"Mist please, calm yourself! I know you care about your brother, Koga, we all do. None of us that know him want to see him badmouthed, but you're not thinking straight. This isn't doing anyone any good.," Hon'oo said separating the two arguing teenaged girls.
Mist sighed and took a deep breath, she realized her friend was right. That was.. unbecoming of her, even if there was legitimate reason to be upset at this white haired girl.
"You're right, Hon'oo. I shouldn't have snapped like that.," Mist said before turning towards the white haired girl.
"I was... out of line to snap at you like I did. I apologize for that. My family and friends mean alot to me, so I can get very aggressive towards thise who badmouth them.," Mist said in apology.
The White haired girl almost didn't know what to say because she was inwardly in shock that a faunus would apologize to her.
"W-Well as long as you understand.," She said.
She turns to Ruby albeit calmer, she was still curious about something.
"Aren't you... abit young to be at this school though?," The girl asked.
"W-Well I...," Ruby started but couldn't answer the question.
"I... admit I may have overreacted back there, but you should really watch where you're going. This isn't your ordinary combat school. It's not just sparring and practice, you know. We're here to fight monsters, just watch where you're going.," The girl said.
"I-I'll keep that in mind.," Ruby replied.
"Good., "The white haired girl replied.
She turned to Hon'oo and Mist to pose a question.
"I've seen my fair share of Faunus, but... I don't believe I have ever seen any that look like you and your companions before... what kind of faunus are you?," She asked.
"That's not surprising you haven't seen us, we're.... a bit of a unique case among faunus.," Mist replied.
Blake came over and spoke.
"She's an heiress actually.," a new voice said.
The group of teens turned and saw a girl with a black ribbon appear before them.
Ruby and Weiss look over as Blake approaches with the bottle.
"Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world.",Blake said.
The now identified Weiss pridefully accepts the praise.
"Finally! Some recognition!", Weiss said Smugly.
"The same company infamous for its controversial labor forces and questionable business partners.", Blake finished.
Ruby chuckles at this while the others teens back away slightly, seeing Weiss was upset again.
"Wha- How dare- The nerve of... Ugh!", Weiss says as she storms off after grabbing the bottle from Blake.
Her helpers gathering her luggage then follow after her.
Ruby shouts after Weiss still sorry.
"I promise I'll make this up to you! (She sighs after no response) I guess I'm not the only one having a rough first day... So, what's...",Ruby goes to talk to Blake before noticing she was walking away as well.
Ruby then collapses to the ground in frustration.
"Welcome to Beacon...", Ruby said frustrated.
Koga then walks over to her.
"Rough first day, huh?," He asked.
She looks at him, offering a weak smile.
"You could....say that.," Ruby answered.
"Think I'll join you down there.," Koga said also laying on the ground.
The others walk over and to Ruby's confusion follow suit.
"Seems like a fun way to relax for a minute.," Max said.
"I'm kinda drained too.," Mist said.
"Don't mind if I do.," Shoryu said.
"Same here. We won't let you be the only weirdo here, Ruby., " Hon'oo added.
Ruby then looked at the other teens confused before she snorted.
"What the-? (Snorts) You guys are total weirdos, you know that?," Ruby said as she couldn't help but to snort and begin to laugh at their situation.
The other teens just smiled before also laughing with Ruby. A minute later they all got up from the ground, Koga offering a hand to help Ruby to her feet.
"Need a hand?," Koga offered.
She smiled at him.
"Thanks, Koga.," Ruby said thanking him and accepting the gesture.
Another teen then came over to them.
"Hi there. I'm Jaune.," Jaune said.
"Ruby. Aren't you the guys who barged on the ship?," Ruby asked.
Jaune hung his head at this.
"Is that what people think of me?," Jaune asked with a mini dark cloud over his head.
"That may have been their first impression of you, yeah.," Ruby said.
The group began to walk and talk as Ruby introduced Jaune to her friends.
Timeskip- a little while later
Beacon inside the walls are filled with scenic trees, arching architecture, and a winding road alongside a river, down which the group of faunus teens plus Ruby and Jaune are seen walking.
"All I'm saying is that motion sickness is a much more common problem than people let on!", Jaune explained.
Ruby was seen laughing as she and Jaune talked.
"Look, I'm sorry! Vomit Boy was the first thing that came to mind.",Ruby said apologizing.
"Oh, yeah? What if I called you Crater Face?", Jaune replied back.
Koga snorts at this to which Ruby puffs her cheeks as if she's pouting.
"K-Koga, you're supposed to be on my side here! Besides, that explosion was by accident!," Ruby said pouting.
"Sorry, Ruby it was a little too funny of a name to ignore. We all know it was an accident.," Koga said.
"Well, the name's Jaune Arc! Short, sweet, rolls off the tongue - ladies love it!", Jaune said confidently.
Ruby is seen raising a confused eyebrow as she's a bit skeptical of the claim.
"Do they?," Ruby asks skeptical.
"They will! Well, I-I hope they will. My mom always says that... Never mind.",Jaune said.
Ruby giggled before a short and awkward silence falls.
"So... I got this thing!," Ruby said as she pulls out Crescent Rose before stabbing it into the ground.
"Whoa! Is that a scythe?",Jaune asked amazed.
"It's also a customizable high-impact sniper rifle!",Ruby explained.
Jaune is confused.
Koga palms his forehead as he whispers to Ruby that not everyone knows what that is.
"A- Wha..?," Jaune asks confused.
"That's another term for gun, jaune. It's a really big gun.," Koga explained to him.
"Oh. That's cool!", Jaune said understanding.
Jaune looks at Koga.
" What about you, Koga? Where's your dust weapon?," Jaune asked curious.
Ruby was also wondering about that as she never once saw him use a Dust weapon.
Koga directed their attention to his pendant.
"I mostly fight using my fists, but as for my weapon... it's right here.,"Koga said pointing to his pendant.
"A necklace?," Jaune asked confused.
"Crystal actually. But I was always taught that your body is an even more powerful weapon than any sword, shield, or traditional weapon. If you train the right way, you can use your entire body as a weapon unto itself.," Koga answered.
"Koga, you fight the Grimm bear handed?," Ruby asked.
"Not quite, this crystal will turn into what I need to fight off Grimm.," Koga replied.
"I see.," Ruby and Jaune answered.
"Still, that's cool in a way.," Jaune said.
"So what've you got?", Ruby asked turning to Jaune.
"Oh! I, uh... got this sword!," Jaune said unsheathing a blade.
"Ooooohh!",Ruby said excited.
"Yeah, and I've got a shield, too!," He explains and demonstrates by taking his scabbard raising his arm as it expands into his defense.
Ruby touches the shield to examine it.
"So what do they do?," Ruby asked.
Jaune is seen fumbling with the shield as it retracts off his arm, expands, and retracts again before putting it back in place and finally shrinking it down for good, placing it on his belt.
"The shield gets smaller, so when I get tired of carrying it, I can just... put it away...", Jaune explained.
Koga and Ruby both raised puzzled eyebrows.
"But... wouldn't it weigh the same?",She asked.
"Yeah.. I guess it does. Never thought of it that way.," Jaune said.
Ruby giggles.
"Well to be fair... I am kind of a geek or dork when it comes to weapons. So I uh... may have went a little overboard designing it.," Ruby said.
Koga gave Ruby a dry look at her response to Jaune.
"đ A little overboard?," Koga said dryly.
"đ ok... maybe a little is a stretch. I did get carried away designing it.," Ruby said sweatdropping.
"Wait - you made that?!", Jaune asked surprised.
"Um.. yeah. All students at Signal had to make their own weapon. Didn't you make yours?," She replied.
Jaune shook his head.
"Nah. It's a hand-me-down, my great great grandfather used it in the war.," He said.
"Ah, so it's a family heirloom then?," Koga added.
Jaune nodded.
"Well, I think it's great! Not many people can appreciate the classics these days.," Ruby said.
"Yeah, The classics...," Jaune said.
"So... Why'd you guys help me out in the courtyard anyways Koga?," Ruby asked.
"Ah, that. Well my parents have always taught me to help out those who look troubled or are in need. Some strangers are just friends you haven't met yet.," He replied.
"Yeah, my dad says the same thing.," Ruby said.
"He's a wise man then.," Koga said.
"Not to interrupt your conversation, but uh... where are we going?," Jaune asked.
"I thought you knew.," Ruby replied.
"No, I was just following you guys. You think there might be a directory, a food court, some kind of recognizable landmark?," Jaune asked.
Ruby shrugged.
"I take it that's a no?," Jaune asked.
"That's a no.," Ruby said.
Max turned to them.
" We'll figure this out guys, no need to panic.," Max said.
Timeskip: an hour later
After an hour or so of wandering, the group came to building where they needed to go.
"That's it over there, right?," Mist asked pointing to the said building.
"I would assume so.," Shoryu said.
The group then made their way inside the building as Ruby went to join her sister, the faunus teens finding another row nearby. Yang is seen waving to Ruby.
"Hey, Rubes! Over here, I saved you a seat!," Yang called out.
Ruby turns to Jaune and Koga.
"Oh! Hey, I-I gotta go! I'll see you after the ceremony! Thanks for helping me, Koga.," Ruby said giving the teen a quick hug before going off to sit by her sister.
Koga pats the blonde's shoulder as he leaves to join his siblings and friends.
"Gotta go Jaune, I'll see you later.," Koga said.
"Yeah sure.. Great now where am I supposed to find another nice and quirky girl to talk to?," Jaune said moving on to reveal Pyrrha standing behind him, hand on her hips as she watches him walk away.
Yang is seen with her arms crossed once Ruby sits down next to her.
"How's your first day going, little sister?," Yang asked.
"You mean since you ditched me and I exploded?," Ruby asked upset with Yang.
"Yikes! Meltdown already, Rubes?," Yang said.
"Though.. it wasn't all bad I guess. Koga and the others did stay with me the whole time.," Ruby replied.
"Koga, huh? đ You got a thing for him Ruby?," Yang asked slyly smirking.
"I-it's not like that, Yang! He... just helped me after I felt down.," Ruby said.
" I literally exploded a hole in front of the school! And there was some fire, and I think some ice...?", Ruby said unsure of that last part.
"Are you being sarcastic?," asked with a broad smile.
"I wish! I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage, and then she yelled at me, and then I sneezed, and then IÂ exploded! Thankfully, Hon'oo was there to calm down things before things got really out of hand when Mist started yelling her. Otherwise, I think she would've yelled at me again! I just wanted her to stop belittling me, even though she was calmer.," Ruby said not realizing Weiss was next to her.
"You!," Weiss yelled.
"Oh, God, it's happening again!," Ruby said quickly jumping into her sister's arms in fright.
"You're lucky we weren't blown off the side of the cliff!", Weiss said.
Yang deadpanned in realization of Ruby's earlier story.
"Oh my God, you really exploded.," Yang said deadpanning.
It was an accident. It was an accident!," Ruby said getting down out of her sister's arms to stand on her own feet.
Weiss holds up a pamphlet titled "DUST for dummies and other Inadequate Individuals" to Ruby before handing it to her.
"What's this?," Ruby asked confused as to why she was handed a book.
Weiss is listing off policies to a clueless and horrified Ruby, going faster and higher pitched with each word.
"The Schnee Dust Company is not responsible for any injuries or damages sustained while operating a Schnee Dust Company product. Although not mandatory, the Schnee Family highly encourages their customers to read and familiarize themselves with this easy to follow guide to Dust applications and practices in the field.," Weiss said.
"Uuuhhh...? ," Ruby replied still confused.
"You really wanna start making things up to me?," Weiss asked.
"Absolutely?," Ruby replied half in question.
"Read this, and don't ever speak to me again.," Weiss said.
"Look, uh, it sounds like you two just got off on the wrong foot. Why don't you start over and try to be friends, okay?," Yang suggested.
Ruby then puts away the pamphlet and ticks out her hand to greet Weiss.
"Great idea, sis!," Ruby said clearing her throat before she continued.
" Hello, Weiss! I'm Ruby! Wanna hang out? We can go shopping for school supplies!," Ruby said in greeting.
Weiss is seemingly enthusiastic only to shoot down Ruby's request.
"Yeah! And we can paint our nails and try on clothes and talk about cute boys, like tall, Red, and Spiky over there! Or maybe tall blonde, and scraggly over there. (Points to Jaune) ," Weiss said referring to Koga and then to Jaune.
"Huh?," Koga said turning around for a brief moment.
"Hm?," Jaune also said in question.
"Wow, really?!," Ruby asked excitedly.
There's then a dead silence as Weiss stares at Ruby dryly.
"Â No.," Weiss said.
This disappoints Ruby briefly, but she doesn't have time to dwell on it as their attention is then diverted to the stage in the auditorium where Ozpin is seen addressing the student body.
"I'll... keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction., "He started and paused.
The students then whisper among themselves about what the meaning of Ozpin's words could mean. He continued.
"You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step.," Ozpin said finishing as he then exits the stage.
Glynda then steps up to speak as Ozpin leaves.
"You will gather in the ballroom tonight; tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed.," Glynda announced.
"He seemed kind of... off.," Yang said.
"Yeah, almost like... He wasn't even there.," Ruby said.
Jaune is seen talking to Weiss, or at least he's trying to.
"I'm a natural blond, you know!," He said pointing to himself.
Weiss just palmed her face in exasperation.
"đ¤Śââď¸," The sound of Weiss's hand slapping her forehead could be heard as the scene then transitions.
Timeskip: Night time- hours later
The first night at Beacon, students are splayed out in sleeping bags. Ruby, in her pajamas and with a sleeping mask around her head, is writing in a journal when Yang crashes next to her, similarly dressed.
"It's like a big slumber party!," Yang said.
Ruby doesn't even look up when she responds to her sister's comment.
"I don't think Dad would approve of all the boys, though.," Ruby said.
" I know I do!," Yang said smirking.
She then purrs as she watches several muscular, shirtless guys... and Jaune, dressed in feetie pajamas, waving to her, which makes her groan before she returns her attention to Ruby.
"What that, Rubes?," Yang asked.
"A letter to the gang back at Signal. I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things are going.", Ruby replied focusingbon her letter.
"Aw, that's so cuuuute!," Yang said before she is knocked back by the pillow thrown at her face.
"Shut up! I didn't get to take my friends with me to school! It's weird not knowing anyone here!," Ruby replied.
Yang gives Ruby a dry look at her response.
"What?," Ruby asks confused.
"You're not actually serious right now, are you? Did you already forget those people you made friends with earlier today?," Yang said dryly.
"Huh? What do you mean by that? I don't know anyone here.," Ruby replied puzzled.
It seemed as though Yang would just have to remind her sister.
"Don't tell me you forgot the group of Faunus you hung out with earlier?," Yang asked reminding her.
A look of recognition came over Ruby's face at the mention of the faunus.
"Oh, y-yeah. I guess Koga and the others did stay with me the whole time earlier, but I wouldn't say I know them that well yet.," Ruby said remembering.
"Rubes, anyone can tell they already consider you to be their friend. So why don't you just call them your friends already?," Yang replied.
Ruby sighed.
"Yeah... I guess you're right, sis.," Ruby responded.
"đ By the way Rubes... I couldn't help but notice how well you and Koga seem to get along. And you said he helped you out earlier too... So, you have a crush on him?," Yang said slyly smirking.
Ruby felt her face heat up at this, as she became a little annoyed with Yang teasing her.
"Y-Yang, I-it's not like that! Koga just helped me when I felt down is all, he's a good friend. And that's all there is to it!," Ruby said blushing embarrassed.Â
"Awww that's so cuuuute! My little sister has her first crush!," Yang said teasing her sister.
"Y-Yang! I told you, it isn't like that!," Ruby said embarrassed.Â
"And plus you met Jaune. He's... nice! There you go, that's more friends than when you first came here.," Yang said encouraging Ruby.
"Pretty sure Weiss counts as a negative friend though... back to square one.," Ruby said.
"There aren't any such things as negative friends! You just made a few friends and one enemy! That's more than you started with, right?, " Yang said.
She's hit with another pillow, this one looking like a dog.
"Look Rubes, it's only been one day. Trust me: you've got friends all around you! You just haven't met them yet!," Yang said trying to encourage Ruby.
Nearby, the girls notice a candle is lit, and Blake Belladonna is seen to be leaning against a wall while reading a book.
" That girl..," Ruby said trailing off.
"You know her, Rubes?," Yang asked.
Ruby shook her head.
"No, not really. She was there when everything happened with Weiss this morning, but she left before I could say anything to her.," Ruby said.
Yang then grabs Ruby's arm, dragging her to her feet and towards the aforementioned girl.
"Well, no time like the present right? Here's your chance!," Yang said pulling Ruby.
"Wait, Yang! What are you doing?!," Ruby asked struggling against her elder sister's grip.
Nearby, Mist and Koga noticed Ruby struggling against Yang's grip as she was dragged over towards the other girl.
They raised an eyebrow at this, watching the interaction between the pair of sisters and the faunus girl.
"Hel-looooo! I believe you two may know each other?," Yang asked in a singing voice.
"Aren't you... that girl that exploded?", Blake asks.
Ruby then smiles embarrassed.
"Y-Yeah that's me, Ruby Rose. But you can just call me crater.. I mean you can call me Ruby.," Ruby said.
"Okay.," Blake said looking back to her book.
Yang is seen whispering to Ruby.
"What are you doing?," Yang asked whispering.
"I don't know, help me!," Ruby whispered back.
"So... What's your name?," Yang asked.
Blake sighs as she's taken from her book by yet another distraction.
"It's Blake.," Blake replied.
"Well, Blake, I'm Yang, Ruby's older sister! I like your bow!," Yang said trying to make conversation with the black haired girl.
"Thanks!," Blake replied irritated.
"It goes great with your... uh... pajamas!," Yang said awkwardly.
"Right...",Blake said.
"Nice Night, don't you think?," Yang said.
Blake just looked up annoyed as she spoke.
"Yeah, it is. Almost as nice as this book..," Blake said trailing off.
Yang and Ruby shared puzzled looks before Blake speaks again.
"That I will continue to read... As soon as you leave!," Blake finished.
Yang shrugged as she whispered to Ruby.
"Yeah, this girl's a lost cause.," Yang said.
"What's it about?," Ruby asked Blake.
Blake was surprised this girl wanted to talk to her.
"Huh?," Blake asked surprised.
"Your book. Does it have a name or anything?," Ruby asked.
"Well... i-it's about a man with two souls, each fighting for control over his body.," Blake replied.
"Oh, yeah... That's real lovely!," Yang said sarcastically.
"Â I love books. Yang used to read to me every night before bed. Stories of heroes and monsters... They're one of the reasons I want to be a Huntress!",Ruby said excited.
Blake chuckled.
"And why's that? Hoping you'll be able to live happily ever after?," Blake asked.
"đOh she's more than hoping, at least... with a certain guy she met recently.," Yang said smirking.
Ruby's faced flushed in embarrassment at Yang's comment.
"Y-Yang, I keep telling you it isn't like that!!!," Ruby said blushing madly.
Blake raised an eyebrow at this. She was curious as to what that was about, but she couod always find out later.
"A-Anyways, I'm hoping we all will. As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books... Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!," Ruby said trying to move on from her sister's teasing comment about a certain red haired dragon like faunus (not that Ruby knows that's what type of faunus he is lol).
"That's... very ambitious for a child. Unfortunately, reality isn't the same as a fairytale. Real life can be rather cruel towards such naivetĂŠ.," Blake said as her smile morphed into a frown.
"Well, isn't that why we're here? To make the world a better place than that?," Ruby replied.
"Oh, I am so proud of my baby sister!," Yang said hugging her sister and lifting her into the air.
This causes Ruby to start flailing in an effort to free herself from Yang.
"Yang, cut it out! Let me go!," Ruby says flailing.
This divulges into a rather forced sisterly bonding that results in a dust cloud of flailing limbs and flying stars.
Blake can't help but to laugh slightly at the spectacle.
"Well Ruby, Yang, it's been a pleasure to ha-," Blake started but never finished her sentence as a certain Shcnee heiress came stalking over due to the noise.
Weiss is seen storming over to the spot in her own pajamas as Ruby traps Yang's leg.
"What in the world is going on over here?! Don't you realize some of us are trying to sleep?," Weiss huffed before seeing Yang.
"Oh, not you again!," Both said reeling at the sight of each other.
"Shh! Guys, she's right! People are trying to sleep!," Ruby said.
Weiss took offense to this.
"Oh, so now you're on my side?," Weiss said angered.
"I was always on your side!," Ruby answered.
"Yeah, what's your deal anyways? You have a problem with my sister? She's only trying to be nice to you!," Yang said annoyed.
"She's a hazard to my health!," Weiss insisted.
Blake rolls her eyes at the fight, closes her book, and his about to blow out the candle. Except, someone else came over to quickly put an end to the bickering.
It was Hon'oo and she did not look the least bit pleased. Actually, she looked rather annoyed even though she was smiling.
"Pardon me, ladies... But is there a reason you have to be so loud when some of us are trying to sleep?," Hon'oo asked.
Yang saw the look on Hon'oo's face and quickly shut up. Weiss unfortunately didn't get the message.
"Yes, these two are-," Weiss started before the faunus quickly silenced her.
"Pardon me Weiss, but... did I say you could talk?," She asked.
"I didn't think so. Yourself and Yang are both at fault here, let's have a chat... shall we?," Hon'oo said as shadows covered her smiling face.
Both Weiss and Yang started sweating, they knew they'd made a huge mistake by being so loud. There was no escaping from this, the two would be subject to the wrath of Hon'oo.
"đ You... think they'll be okay?," Ruby asked sweatdropping.
"đ I... honestly couldn't say, Ruby.," Blake replied sweatdropping.
The scene then fades to black.
To be continued...
