One thing in life that Lucas always looked forward to was lunch.
Well not just lunch. Breakfast, dinner, brunch and everything in between as well.
Let's just say Lucas loved eating.
His classmates as usual were having fun and dawdling along with their friends to the cafeteria while some left to go have food at a restaurant nearby.
Very few students bring food from home as most who could enroll here were to a certain degree rich.
But none of the students dared to flaunt their background on campus, as that was just asking trouble with the Dean.
And the Dean isn't afraid of anyone.
At least that's what people say.
Even scholarship students usually don't bring food as they would of already joined some rich kid's clique.
Still, there are exceptions,
Like Lucas.
As he looked up at the clouds while savoring a chocolate muffin, Lucas sighed with pleasure.
"Another busy night awaits, yet all I feel is excitement...*sigh*"
"Am I a masochist..?"
"Absolutely!" replied someone from behind rudely utterly destroying his peace.
"Umm, Hello? Can I help you?"
Lucas asked as he looked at his new classmate in confusion. He really didn't want to involve her into his life. Chaotic as it may be, it was bearable. Her showing up isn't going to help with the chaos.
"Well, I'm Alice! And you must be Lucas…don't ask how I know."
Alice replied with a mischievous grin and a pointed look. Her white skirt swayed in the wind as did her hair as if to help emphasise her presence. With a hand in the pocket of her skirt, she looked very casual and all the more approachable.
"Okay.", Lucas replied as he slightly squinted his eyes in suspicion at the mysterious wind that appeared out of the blue.
"…"
"…"
"Ugh, you're no fun. Don't you want to knowww!"
Alice asked breaking the silence in disappointment seeing as he had no intention of biting. Usually men were so easy to persuade; a smile here, a wink there, but this fool looks as though he has facial paralysis.
"No."
"Well d'ya wanna go have lunch together ?"
"No, I brought my own."
"Oh…are you sure? I hear the chef there even won Master Chef once!"
She tried once again in hopes that this fool would accompany her.
"No thanks. Also I hear he's a serial killer and that his secret ingredient are his victims, sooooo…Bon Appetite!"
He replied with a chef's kiss to boot in hopes of driving her away. Honestly he regretted saying that as soon as he said it. Cringing internally he lamented on the fact that this wouldn't be the last time as this had always happened when he had ever talked with her.
"She must've remembered me. It would've been better if she had forgotten.."
Lucas realised, suddenly feeling very tired. Only she was capable of making him so flustered. But as chaotic was the inner machinations of his mind, his expression was still as blank as before.
"HUH??!" Alice was absolutely startled.
She had no idea how things when from 1 to 100 so fast. At this point she even started to doubt whether he was actually talking to her. With a quick glance at his ears she could confirm that he wasn't wearing any wireless earphones.
"Well would you look at the time! I'm going to miss my…class. Nice chatting with you and bye."
He said abruptly as he looked at his wrist to belatedly realise he hadn't worn his watch today. Feeling slightly embarrassed at his slip-up, Lucas for the first time ever wished he had the ability of invisibility or teleportation.
Still carrying the nonchalant expression on his face, he bolted, though not forgetting to drop his wrappers in a trash can along the way.
"Another problem, for another day.." Lucas told himself as he executed a tactical retreat.
He already had too much on his plate at the moment especially considering today was "that" day. Ron would kill him if he was late though Yuri wouldn't mind.
A few handmade cakes and maybe a personally concocted virgin mojito would go a long way to appease her.
"WAAaaitt, *sigh*."
Alice shouted at his back to no avail, leaving her watching his back as he vanished back into the building.
"I didn't even get his number."
She realised sadly. Pulling out the small tablet that she had been hiding in her skirt, Alice really felt like crying all of a sudden.
Wiping the tears that fell on its screen, Alice returned to school in a daze.
