Chapter 8 - A Sudden Accident, Witness the Scene Once More

Mu Hongfa and Ren Jie were indeed in a hurry to get Mu Qianqian a boyfriend, but they also hoped that their daughter would find someone that they were familiar with. After all, with the connections that the wealthy couple possessed, they could pair their daughter up with various charming or powerful individuals who have bright futures ahead of them... Only by handing their daughter over to such individuals would they truly feel at ease. However, now that a random individual had appeared out of nowhere and occupied said spot, it was only natural for them to feel uneasy, especially since he was from an unknown background.

The two of them exchanged glances and immediately understood each other's thoughts. Should Qin Feng meet the requirements and standards to become their son-in-law, they would bury their grievances and give him their full support. After all, it was a rare phenomenon for their daughter to admit that there was someone she liked, a rare phenomenon indeed. On the other hand, should this Qin Feng person fail to meet their requirements, they would not hesitate to break them apart. They would be merciless and would pay no heed to their daughters pleas.

"Mom, Dad, we're here."

Mu Qianqian walked towards the table with a beaming smile while clinging onto Qin Feng's arm.

Mu Hongfa and Ren Jie's already unpleasant expressions were further aggravated once they realized how intimately their daughter was holding onto Qin Feng's arm. Mu Hongfa's face was so dark that ink was practically dripping down from it.

"Hello, uncle, auntie. I'm Qin Feng. I'm a colleague of Qianqian's and we work in the same department. I'm really sorry, but we came in a hurry today, so I haven't prepared any gifts for the two of you. Please forgive me for this oversight."

Qin Feng introduced himself briefly and while doing so, he noticed that Mu Hongfa and Ren Jie were frowning. Sighing inwardly, he then quietly slip his arm out of Mu Qianqian's grasp as he bowed. Following this, he put some slight distance between himself and Mu Qianqian, and as a result, the husband and wife's expressions seemed to have been placated somewhat.

Mu Hongfa and Ren Jie looked at each other. Their impression of Qin Feng had improved a little.

At this moment, something unexpected happened!

Before the old couple could respond, the chandelier above table 666 suddenly collapsed without warning!

"Boom!"

"Crash!"

A loud crash could be heard, and before long, someone was shouting, "AHH! Someone's dead!"

The chandelier fell, killing the guest dining at table 666.

"Quick, quick, call the police!"

"What's going on?!"

"Stay away, you might get cursed with bad luck."

"..."

Pandemonium broke out within the restaurant.

"Dear valued guests, please remain calm. We've already contacted the police. They will arrive soon. Please stay where you are and don't panic."

Upon recovering from their shock, the restaurant staff immediately leaped into action. They tried their best to calm the guests down and to maintain order at the scene, even though they too, were so scared that their complexion was pale and their legs had gone limp.

As for Qin Feng and Mu Qianqian's family, they had received such a huge scare that they stood rooted to the spot. No, that would be inaccurate, as Mu Hongfa and Ren Jie had both left their seats and had their backs against the wall.

In order to ensure good fengshui, the table 666 and table 888 were adjacent to one another, and as a result, the fright that the four of them had experienced was the greatest amongst all the guests present.

As a police officer, Qin Feng could not afford to sit idly by at such a time. He steeled his nerves, and after a quick scan of the chaotic scene, he then turned to Mu Hongfa and Ren Jie. "I'm sorry, Uncle, Auntie. Please look for a safe spot and rest there, I need to take a look at the situation."

"Alright, please go ahead and do your job."

Upon regaining his senses, Mu Hongfa responded to Qin Feng.

Qin Feng nodded and gave Mu Qianqian a nod. Then, he turned around and headed to table 666.

"I'll never come here again. It's too dangerous."

"How terrifying. To think that I wanted to book table 666 today. Thank God I was late."

"Who's the victim? What an unlucky fellow. I've never heard of an accident occurring in the Imperial Wind Pavilion before, who knew that it's first accident would be such a disastrous one."

"Shouldn't a high-end place like the Imperial Wind Pavilion be inspected and maintained frequently? How could such a thing happen?"

"Perhaps the boss is only concerned about making money."

"Why aren't the police here yet?"

"Is this person still alive? Someone called 120 just now, right?"

"..."

A group of guests had gathered around table 666 and were commenting at the scene.

From their point of view, the reason for the chandelier's collapse was due to a lack of maintenance. Indeed, everyone in the restaurant seemed to have treated the incident as an accident.

"Excuse me, I'm a police officer. Please step back to preserve the integrity of the scene."

Qin Feng said as he walked forward. The only thing he could do at this moment was to preserve the scene, record the observations from the witnesses present, and to wait for his colleagues to arrive.

Someone had already called the police when the accident happened. His colleagues should be here soon.

"Please make way, policeman coming through!"

"Please step back and let the police do their job."

The staff and guests at the scene who heard Qin Feng's words shouted for the other guests to make way for Qin Feng.

A police officer's appearance at such a timing was akin to that of a savior's appearance, and thus, everyone hurriedly stepped aside.

"I'm afraid it's too late to do anything for this man."

Qin Feng walked to the scene and frowned. The scene was too tragic. The spot where the chandelier had crashed into happened to be where the guest was sitting, and thus, there was no way for the guest to have survived.

"Crime scene detected, scene is now being restored!"

A familiar mechanical voice appeared in his mind. A mere instant later, the space in front of Qin Feng began to warp, and before long, it was enveloped in pitch-black darkness.

It was a dark night. A half-moon was hidden among the clouds, and occasionally, there would be a glimmer of light that managed to squeeze through the clouds. In a manner befitting that of an acrobat, a man with a robust figure made his way to the chandelier above table 666. After securing himself on top of the chandelier, he then brought out his tools to carry out the murder.

He unscrewed the screws of the chandelier one by one, leaving only two screws diagonally opposite one another untouched.

In order to prevent the chandelier from accidentally crashing and injuring the guests, the screws that were used to fix the chandelier were designed in such a way that even if some of the screws were separated from their joints, the chandelier would not instantly fall, and thus, the man had an easy time handling the chandelier.

After doing all this, the man then tied a rope to the top of the chandelier. After confirming that it was firm, he began experimenting with the two remaining screws. He slowly loosened both screws, so that it would fall at his desired timing.

Moreover, as he had already fastened the chandelier to a rope beforehand, the man could experiment with the chandelier as many times as he wanted. Even if the chandelier were to fall, due to the safety rope that he had fastened, the chandelier would not make contact with the ground.

After an unknown amount of time, the man finally found the position he was most satisfied with, a position that would perfectly disguise this murder as an accident.

"Hmph, you'll lose your life for trying to threaten me!"

The man muttered in a low voice as his figure gradually faded away into the night...
