Attack what? I wondered. Us or the war cries out there?
She charged and slashed the air with her trident and the ground cracked as war cries outside dwindled as the earth opened up.
The king dodged and the castle wall behind him collapsed.
"I am the watcher of the holy lands of the guardians." A whisper went inside my head and i instantly felt like puking. i wasn't even wondering why he wasn't showing up. He alwys did when she was around.
The king caught a swing of her trident and punched her across the execution grounds. she rolled on the ground for a second but went on her knees and pulled out two swords she used to anchor herself to the ground with. She rose to her feet as the trident the king held hit him on its own.
She held her hand out and the trident started spinning. He let the trident go and drew my curved blade sword.
My armor and vambrace lit pale blue and the sword flew off his hands and straight into my hands.
I stabbed the sword into the ground as my skull split.
"Who dares!" I roared and the ground split further and in all directions . From the crevices, an army of the Yateveo rose. Their roots shooting up from the ground all over the falling fortification.
I heard the whistles of arrows, screams and roars. The Yateveo charged at the archers who surrounded us and from their eyes, I saw soldiers on the plains ready to take on the army with the flags of the knights of Arga that was marching towads the castle. But it wasn't just the armies of the knights of Arga.
It was the revolutionary soldiers with the armies of Uriel in one flank and the armies of the southern kingdoms on the other flank.
but the armies of arga as the ground trembled and cracked, ran amork away from the castle breaking formation and the approaching armies stood still and watched from a safe distance as the castle fell.
Boulders rose from the ground as fire shot of my mouth and my chest lit up in flames.
My bones broke but the anger I had within me was the only thing I could focus on. The excruciation of turning i couldn't feel it for a moment.
How dare they touch a guardian? How dare they! was all I could think of.
She charged again, with a rain of arrows and jumped. But i didn't bother. I flung the boulders aside and they pummeled the walls and enbattlements. Others, I threw at the king as he deflected the exploding arrows but they boulders shattered at his touch and he dissappeared. Like my father used to. But i knew that trick. He always appeared a few yard away freom where he was.
I spit fire all over, and he appeared not far from the tip of my snout and stopped.
Oh there he is. I growled.
I prepared to pounce on him and felt my hair stand on its end.
He looked at me with colder eyes. Darker eyes than before, and a cold chill slid down my back. His eyes didn't look at all phased. Fear. Or any sort of emotion. He was rid of it even as he stared at me. But his eyes werent on me. They were searching for something.
But he was standing face to face with me, a sphinx with the head of a dragon and a being I have yet to identify. A swan? No, she was closer to being the lady in white than to being a swan.
The clouds above turned darker and darker.
This plan was definitely a wrong plan. I should have just killed him in the wee hours of the day.
Thunder clouds formed and they formed really fast above us. Ariums mane rose to its ends and i grew concerned. Even a dead animal's hair stood up. If there was a bad omen, this was it.
I can fight him. I can kill him. I told myself as the sphinx raged. "I am Andreana. I am the bringer of light!" The sphinx gave in to my will and I took my human form once more, though I was naked but, but it was breezy. With few strands or pieces of the robe and armor holding onto me here and there.
My vambraces were still on and undamaged as i looked at the god in front of me, i tried to draw the throwing knives. But my throwing knives were all gone and I didnt have a sword in hand. it was stuck on the ground two feet in front of me.
I formed the dragon claws again with the spirit of a troll backing me up, I felt a bit powerful and certain, I was going to pack quiet a punch.
My gut told me to move. Told me to run. My body told me i was either about to get hit by lightning or I was about to kiss a trolls dirty muddy ass. None felt reassuring.
He pounced and I did too, grabbing the hilt of the sword with my right and spinned to gather more force. My nightmare fired her bow and before I could scream anything, or grunt as the sword almost touched his face, lightning rolled from the sky and a flash was the last thing i saw before before i hit the hard, smooth black stone.
Or rather kissed it.
I got up with my body smelling like sulphur and steaming, with my robes or what was left of it, was crispy black and completely burnt. Only my vambraces were okay.
The girl was okay, except her robe was gone too and her black and golden armor held her body as tightly as can be and...she had wings, like swan.
White wings and her skin, were it was bare was the same as the lady in white. as white as the cleanest linen cloth one can find. But her lips were a bit red. Same was the colour of her hair that flowed beautifully onto her neck and back.
Her eyes were a bit huge, but beautiful with two red dots above her eyes on her forehead. And she looked young. like she was just a child.
I looked around and saw an empty hall with pillars and a set of stone seats all around the round room with a statue in front of the huge one...
The room smelt clean and crispy, like a torrential rainstorm has passed by.
"Ava." A voice, deep menancing and calming at the same time came from the statue and I looked harder. i turned and clenched my fist, ready to fight.
Yeah it wasn't a statue. It was a slightly taller masculine guy carrying a trident behind his hands.
"Brother?" My nightmare, i heard her say in shock as she got up from the ground "I'm sorry, i..."
"Start singing." He said putting his trident away and sat on the adge of the stone table and she took a quick knee.
"I'm sorry I went to Arga without your authorization and I think its about to be judged."
"why?"
"one of the gods has Arga and he's hunting the last of the blood of Aru, and I didn't want to lose Arga too, and i am afraid younger brother is...." She blurted out as tears formed in her eyes and the guy shushed her.
"Shh!"He said with his finger on his lips. "Relax, as long as you are not hurt, its okay."
And to think for a while I was afraid of her. She's just...
"Who is the naked one?" He asked as she got up.
"The kid i told you about." She said walking towards him and he unfolded his arms. "Hannah's son. Lazy's last partron." she said looking at me and scoffed.
"He also killed Lympet." She stood in front of him like they were lover and I looked away.
"heal."
"Tell him, "Laku, dae tra mi sseo si."" The voice of Uriel spoke in my head and I repeated the same thing he told me. The big guy scoffed and looked away from Ava then at me.
"Got it, Joe, now tell me something shapeshifter, I'm quiet curious. How true is it that when you shapeshift, you lose your sense of self and slowly become the beings you shift into?" He asked with a kind smile as he walked towards me.
"All true."
"Khuvan lekhi." Ava called.
"Fine. Ava, fine." He nodded and looked at me in the eyes and added. "lets cut a deal. I dont let her kill you like she wants and you kill someone for me."
"not gonna happen." i responded and i saw Ava pull out her sword. without her madk she didnt look as terrifying as she used to.
"Sis said you wanted to kill him too. The god of war."
"Who?" i asked again as the voice of Uriel returned in my head. "i would suggest you take the offer, or be buried alive."
"The guy you who was about to kill you. Aries, the god of war."
