Old Man's POV...

My name is Bran Valtz, I have been a professor inside Academos Academy for a long time already.

Decades have already passed, and many students have already graduated. Within a blink of an eye, I also turned old.

My skin dried and my hair turned white, my voice littered and my body weakened, and weakened day by day.

At this moment, I am sitting in a certain room on the second floor of the Academos Arena.

Looking around the room, you will point out that there is merely limited furniture around; there is only a shelf, a chair, and a table.

As an old man, a deserted room gives me a calm atmosphere where I can feel at ease, as there is more space for me to breathe.

Other than this furniture, there are also red stones that are attached to the wall. Everyone knew these stones as the precious Blood Stone, which gives light and helps condense the wind.

Compared to the three sides, the right, the left, and the back wall, which are wooden, the front of the room is transparent glass. Through this glass, I can freely watch what is happening below.

Other than these, there is nothing more worth to be described.

Being an old man as I am, the Academy already wants me to take a rest, have time for myself, get a journey, and enjoy the remaining time of my life in leisure.

However, this proposal of the academy got declined by me many times.

I promised that I will only this proposal after I find a rightful successor of mine.

In my decades as a professor and elder at this Academy, I encountered countless individuals with talent in magic and even got tens of direct disciples under my name.

Unfortunately, after watching them since they became my disciple and walked under the path I created for them, I found out that they aren't suitable to inherit my entire knowledge and power.

Even how much they hide it from me, even how much they conceal their color, I can feel everything by looking through their eyes.

There is always the evilness under their every kindness, there is always the greed under their generosity, there is always darkness under the light they show.

My eyes are looking at nowhere as I sit on the stool and think.

My heart won't bear it when the time comes and they turn their back on humanity and become a villain for the sake of more power and resources.

They are direct disciples; I taught them what they needed to know. I gave them what they wanted. I helped them when necessary. But there is always a limit to everything they can get from me.

I take a deep breath and sigh all my worries.

With my remaining life, I'll use it until I find a person with a heavenly conscience, even if it takes a long time.

And if I cannot meet someone?

Then so be it, it's better for the power and knowledge to disappear than to be passed into the wrong hand.

Mhmm…

A smile forms on my lips as I tilt my head and look at the students below.

Seeing that everyone has ready, I stand and pick up the stone transmission on the table; "Everyone already knows the rules and I won't repeat it anymore. If anyone breaks it, you know no one can get away from the consequence. This is not a warning, it is a threat." I stop for a few seconds and make a silent and serious atmosphere before I add "Time for sparring."

. . .

Third Person POV...

With the Old Man's little speech, the battle stages heat in excitement.

A small ripple in the void catches the attention of everyone as they see something like barely visible in the naked eyes energy comes out of nowhere and flies towards them.

The energy circulates a few times before it turns into different shapes and attaches to their body like an armor suit.

This is the perfect protection for them which is lends by the Academy. Not only does it reduce the pain when receiving attacks from the opposing party, but it is also too light that won't hinder their movement.

Although there are rules, there is no guarantee no one will break them and try to assault someone.

As the saying goes; it's better to be sure than sorry.

Having this armor to protect them is a very convenient action!

Although the academy isn't something perfect and sometimes gets biased, they still protect their students when necessary.

This is one reason many students are grateful to this academy; for thinking about students' safety.

...

Having the armor to protect him, Rolan can't help yet take a deep breath of relief.

At least with this, he can ensure that he won't get a severe injury or won't die.

Of course, he's just overthinking, because Jasmine won't let something bad happen to him.

Although she looks so eager to beat him, she just wants to show that she's stronger than him and get his praise if possible, but she won't make him suffer.

Not to mention, Jasmine might look shameless and powerful, but deep within her, she's just a normal girl who is weak when in love. Weak in expressing her true feelings.

. . .

'No need to think too much!' Looking at the impatient Jasmine, Rolan takes a deep breath and urges his body to stop shuddering in worry.

He stretches his hand and slowly crawls towards the handle of the sword while his eyes lock at Jasmine.

With a mixture of excitement and nervousness, he drags the blade out from the scabbard.

Crick*

The sound of the ripping void rings in his ears as he slowly drags the sword and makes sure that his movement is cool.

'I don't know but I can't wait any longer!' He says in his mind. Not knowing that, he subconsciously discarded the fact that he has nothing against Jasmine.

. . .

Seeing that Rolan is ready to attack, Jasmine doesn't have any intention of being left aside. She cracks into a smile as she moves her right foot one step away from another and stretches two hands; the right-hand stretches longer than the left one. She opens her hand and shows off her palm.

This is a long-range magic caster beginner fighting stance.

. . .

Two individuals, one using a long silver sword and one using magic, stand at the opposite side of the battle stage, facing each other with a smirk and surging fighting spirit in their eyes.

A reader of mine messaged me if I can make the title back to the original title. As a response, (bc his request isn't bad) I changed the title again, but just near the original and not the original.
