Chapter 19 - N

Hakeem

"Hey!!!" He turned back and looked at me with impatience written in his stance.

"You forgot something.." I smirked at him.

"What??," He asked aggressively.

"Your manners…" I said confidently.

"Say that again...I DARE YOU."

I walked strided towards him with a full predator aura that I was very sure he could sense. I was around the same height with him even though we weren't the muscle mass, I wasn't intimidated by him, If only he knew the kind of power I wielded. How I could bring this whole mansion down in seconds.

He moved forward with unwarranted rage blazing in his eyes for me. I never really thought much about it till this moment. He has shown so much hatred for ever since he met me and he didn't even know I was a vampire, what the hell was he going to do if he knew, he would freak the fuck out and never approach me again.

We stood toe to toe and I could smell his deodorant more pronounced than it was when we were outside. Somehow, his body physique managed to overshadow mine because he had real bulk muscle while my body was Averagely packed but fit as hell.

"Careful Hakeem...you don't want to bite a dog's tail in his own yard. It may not end well for you," He said in a grim voice. His voice sounded more like a low growl that he could feel in his chest, I didn't know humans were capable of making a sound that deep.

"Bold of you to think talking in a low octave scares me, if my presence trigger you so much, why don't you just head back to your little cage and chew your grudge out on a little bone, because I sure as hell have done nothing to you...yet," I smirked at him, as I saw his expression go from shock to anger to suddenly expressionless. He looked away from me and beside my head at the same moment I heard the door click. He heard it the same time that I did, his ears must be sharp.

"Joe, Benny and Freddie—" He moved from my front, making me turn around to look at the men that just walked into the room. They all looked middle aged and one specifically stood out with a mass of curly brown hair and full eyebrows while the others were just average men, they looked in their twenties or early thirties.

"Where is Lorentz and Maddie?," Anderson asked, walking towards them, leaving me like we weren't about to chew each other's head off.

"Maddie's having a little vakay with her boyfriend in the Maldives, she will be back by the weekend," The guy curled his head and spoke with a cool voice.

"And Lorentz —"

"Lorentz will be here soon, something about going for a quick endorsement deal signed with his talent, you know he manages Alaska now, the new breakout star for the falls. She's good, someone like Lorentz is someone she needs to guide her through this crazy industry," A tired looking man with a low cut and stubble said. He looked more tired than dull and if I was Anderson, I would definitely be worried but he certainly won't because he cares about himself too much to notice.

"Joe, did you get any sleep at all, you look like a freaking zombie," Anderson slapped his back chuckling, dragging the poor man towards him.

"I swear, being a producer has to be one of the most stressful shit to do, all I got are a bunch of harsh vocals and wild ad libs here and there," Joe complained bitterly while taking the coffee that Jeremy handed to him.

"When is the listening party by the way?," Anderson inquired as they sat in front of the sound desk. They all completely ignored my presence like I wasn't just standing there rocking gray and black like I worked at a cemetery.

"The weekend!!! The fucking weekend bro, I don't even have a slight idea of how to arrange the whole shit. I swear I have tried my best. It still sounds like shit." Joe took another long gulp of his coffee like it wasn't hot at all.

"Benny and Freddie could help you," Anderson suggested and both raised their hands in complete disagreement.

"Working on an Angïe track is like signing a death wish bro, I wouldn't do it. The only reason Joe took the job is because he is considerably more versatile than the both of us—" Freddie clarified.

"I'm sure the pay is worth it, and now it seems like he's at a dead end." Benny laughed as he patted his back in a form of sympathy.

"Look man, I trust you would figure something out alright. I mean, remember with Jessica Thompson, It ended up fine and it went ahead to bag three nominations in the AMAs. You got this." Anderson's confidence in his friend or work body was about to impress my cold heart till I remembered these men completely ignored my presence like I was another piece of furniture in the massive room.

"Well?? You're gonna tell us who the good lookin—" Benny swung on his chair to face me looking at me with a glint in his eyes that I immediately found uncomfortable.

"Very good looking young man standing in the middle of the room or am I the only one opportuned to see such a pretty human," He winked at me and I cringed massively inside that it could cause an earthquake.

"Eyes of the new member of our band, Benny." Anderson spoke a bit aggressively, taking me and the other two men in the room.

"Yooo chill out bruh, I didn't know, you didn't try to introduce him when we came, so what's with the sudden aggression," Benny looked at him confused and he wasn't the only confused one.

"Eyes and Hands off him Benny—" Anderson sternly said, turning to look me in the eye.

"I mean it," Anderson said in a final tone causing my supposed cold heart to skip a beat.

"Okay okay, jeez...It's not like you can have him to yourself, you never showed interest in any guy neither Have you complained when I messed around with any of your work crew," He said in a low voice but audible enough for us close by to hear. I stood there frozen not really knowing what to do with the piece of information he just dropped.

"Not this one—"

"Hey Benny, I'm Hakeem by the way," I butted in, taking quick strides towards him and shook his hands longer than normal while staring at Anderson intensely watching his reaction and he had the look of unease on his face.

"I'm getting another coffee…"
