"Yet, he hasn't fucked up yet…" Anderson left the bathroom and headed for the kitchen to get something to eat.
"Band room!!!" Darla shouted after him.
Knowing well he was going to the kitchen….
They gathered in the band room that also had the studio and every other recording equipment used. The room itself was a huge part of the house which made me wonder exactly how big the house was. From the outside, it didn't look that big, it was a huge mansion nonetheless, but after seeing the inside, I didn't think it was a normal house anymore, it was either the work of very skilled architect or they managed to use some magic spell on the house that made it big enough to hold and indoor studio this big.
I was initially in the living room, sitting on the couch consuming the alcohol and leaving the tasteless snacks I was offered, after the initial encounter with Anderson. In my short stay of being here, all I could say is, I have grown to hate him properly and if Darla hadn't intervened, I was ready to spell him to bang his head on the fucking mirror for taking me down and soiling me with mud, I had ever got dirty but at least, he got most of the shit on him.
"Hey, Uhm Darla said I should take you to the studio room after you are done with your treat of course," Jeremy said to me, pointing at my untouched plate of cakes. Of course he wouldn't know I found cakes disgusting so I didn't really try to eat them much, at least if they were baked with blood, I would have stomached it but I don't have that kind of luck here.
"Oh no, You can take the cake please. I have no intentions of eating, you know...I'm already nervous because of the interview," I lied. Straight through my fucking teeth. Nothing ever made me nervous, not my father challenging me, no when I was in the presence of three savage vampires who tried their luck with me who were sent by my father, not even when I was in the human club yesterday. Nothing phased me, because I have lived long enough to understand the word 'vanity' didn't apply to me except I wanted it to.
"You are nervous??," He looked at me confused, making me look at myself and I realized why he looked confused. I sat crossing my legs elegantly while staring into space trying to focus on the conversation that Darla and Anderson were having from the toilet all the way from the living room while my hate for Anderson increased by the second, he totally couldn't wait for me to fuck things up and I totally couldn't wait for his disappointed face when I blew everyone's mind off with my skills because I was that confident. Now back to the kid in front of me who couldn't depict any aota of nervousness in front of me because of my awfully unplanned lie.
"Yeah…" I trailed off, Not knowing what else to say again, it was just me shooting myself in the legs honestly.
"Okay, look…" He sat on the chair beside me.
"I haven't really heard you play, and I wasn't there in the selection process, but through out yesterday, Darla couldn't stop talking about you, she really thought you were the dopest drum she has met in her entire carrier except the drummer for Nirvana, may his soul rest in peace…" He said, doing the sign of the cross and I just stared at him with a small smile on my face.
"But I guess what I'm saying is, You are good. You are that good that you were invited to our band house to play. So don't be nervous, this isn't a screening process even, this is more like your play out for the whole group and workers here to see how good you are alright," He said with a smile on his face, probably mirroring mine. He tapped my shoulder and gestured for me to follow him, while taking the plate of the untouched cake they gave me.
This boy he was sure was just a year or two older than twenty from his looks and he was really nice. He was normally a cold person but if at all he decided to start making friends, he was definitely going to make friends with him and if he ever started stocking his caskets, he knew exactly who his first occupant would be and he would do it with no hesitation.
The walls in there were in red and white with paintings of different silhouettes of them doing what they did in the band, it was pretty easy to recognize Anderson because of his broad shoulders and Darla on the keyboard probably because she was the only girl there and Someone was on the guitar and had the square face just like Jeremy and someone else was with another mic in the back ane a part of the huge wall was repainted. Jeremy suddenly appeared by My side.
"That's me with the guitar.." He said proudly.
"I noticed, your shape is pretty distinctive," I said, chuckling at him as he laughed.
"Who's the other guy at the back with the mic?," I asked him. his face went a little bland and that instantly made me know I also won't be liking this person.
"That's Chris...he's the back up singer but he's obsessed with trying to sing lead," He said with no form of fondness in his voice.
"I perceive he's a jerk then…" I suggested.
"A real ass Jerk," Jeremy made no sign in showing his distaste for him.
"There…" He pointed to the repainted part of the white wall that stood out more than every other part.
"That was where my last drummer was, but since he left, you might just have your own silhouette painting, probably after your first live performance.
"If I may ask, what happened to him...did he die or…" I trailed up as he interrupted me quickly.
"Nooo, no no, he didn't die. He just got married and he decided to leave the band to focus on growing his family," Jeremy said with a dreamy look in his eyes. It was obvious he wanted something like that.
Anderson barged into the room and headed straight for me and handed me some big headphones with a chill on his expression. He was definitely not happy to be here and I was definitely not happy being in my presence.
"Get ready in five, the sound engineers and the rest of the production team will be here soon…" And he walked towards a door at the far end of the room but I had no intention of letting him go just like that.
"Hey!!!" He turned back and looked at me with impatience written in his stance.
"You forgot something.." I smirked at him.
"What??," He asked aggressively.
"Your manners…" I said confidently.
"Say that again...I dare you.."
