Darla felt her heart quicken as she felt his taunted muscles beneath her finger and she looked into his eyes, searching the amber depth for a permission to meet the yearning that filled her dreams.
They stared into each other's eyes and for the first time, she actually saw him as the soon to be alpha hot male specimen every other girl in the pack saw him as. She had always seen him as just the regular Anderson, the boy she could out run when she was a kid, but all that has changed. This was a man who didn't know he controlled her every heartbeat with every second she spent diving deeper into the amber lake that showed a promising depth.
She slowly gravitated towards him mindlessly while he stood in a spot. His eyes were unreadable and his breath were normal, he didn't seem moved by the fact his best friend was leaning into him slowly but gradually. To Darla, she took it as a sign, maybe he wanted this after all, maybe he also had the same equal yearning and all that was needed was their lips to come in contact now and ignite the obscure passion in the depths of his core.
The whole moment went down the drain as she felt a splash of water on her face. It first displaced her focus as she rapidly tried to blink the water out of her eyes. The next thing she heard was a deep laughter which obviously came from the evil perpetrator himself. Disappointment weighed her down a bit as she was finding it easier to smile or laugh along with him as this was supposed to be "very funny". She shook her head turning around to find the place where he kept his neat and unused towels and used it to wipe her face clean of the water he had splashed on her, but she ended up doing it a little aggressively that she scratch the skin of her tender face making her curse out loud gaining Anderson's attention, the once joke filled face now turned into a serious face laced with worry.
"Hey, are you okay?," Anderson asked, carefully removing the towel off her face revealing the one inch scar she had brought upon herself, just because she couldn't control her emotion.
"Hey, I'm sorry, I didn't know that would get you pissed," Anderson apologized. It is known that Werewolves who can't fully control their shifting and are fully influenced by the moonlight could experience things like this.
There was a time he was in a stage like this. Whenever he was really angry and pissed, he would start unconsciously lengthening his claws into abnormal heights or his body mass would significantly increase making him appear more beast like when he was pissed. He learnt to teach himself to control his emotion, he was still working on his emotions or though he didn't increase in body mass or unknowingly grow out his claws scaring literal kids in the pack.
But it was weird, she had to admit. Anyone who knew Darla knew one thing right. She was the smartest one. She figured out her transformation stage herself and before she turned eighteen, she had fully mastered the transformation and accessing her super strength at human form. She could punch through a bloody ice cream truck even before Anderson mastered his transformation stage. Now, she's struggling with claws, she must have definitely been triggered by something .
"Did the water trigger you?," Anderson asked her again. He was all up in her face and she didn't want to do anything stupid again that would lead to an even more embarrassing situation. Overwhelmed by everything, she pushed Anderson back with a little too much force than she intended and he ended up hitting the wall behind him. It led to one of the most awkward silences she has ever had with Anderson.
A few seconds later, which felt like hours, Anderson burst into an unexpected laughter which she forcefully joined him in to make it seem less awkward. After the whole laughter. Anderson came towards her and gave her a surprising hug, not that she was complaining but he rarely ever displayed emotions when they were together, so it kind of made it special. Before she could process everything happening and embrace him back, he released her with an awkward cough, stepping back as he scratched the back of his head feeling slightly embarrassed.
"Just wanted to thank you for dealing with my shift...I know I'm not good with this emotional stuff...but uhm…"
"Yeah, thanks I guess. I know I can be a whole lot sometimes," Anderson thanked her. It's not that it has never happened and it was pretty rare. Anderson as a person was someone who hated emotional stuff which made her think he was never gonna get a soulmate because of how emotionally inert he was.
"Wow...I'm...I don't know…"
"I guess I would say speechless because you are someone who really doesn't do emotions well so that's some real improvement," Darla mockingly applauded him causing him to punch her lightly in the arm.
"Ouchhhh" Darla whined holding her arm.
"Whatttt"
"It was a very light punch, come on you can't say that actually hurts," Anderson rolled his eyes as he put on a shirt finally, leaving Darla a bit sad that she couldn't get to see his upper body all in it's beautiful shape and story.
"So…"
"Wanna go back and join the audition fir the new kid Hakeem?," Darla suggested. Anderson's expression turned sour just as the name rolled off her lips.
"Urghhhh"
"Whyyyyy," Anderson whined.
"Because you are the band leader, I don't know why you dislike the kid, he has literally done nothing wrong," Darla defended Hakeem.
"Yet, he hasn't fucked up yet…" Anderson left the bathroom and headed for the kitchen to get something to eat.
"Band room!!!" Darla shouted after him.
Nowing well he was going to the kitchen.
