Chapter 5 - The Great city of Talismania

"Do you mind introducing us to this city, Sir? I am willing to know more about it." asked Igor." I'm curious about this... Jewel of Helland. that's the title of this city right?"

"Emmm, where should I begin it? There is just so much stuff to talk about, this city just brings me too much surprise. Even after 32 years of living in this city, the people still creating new stuff for me to explore." Said Stefan, he point at a nearby stall and said" You see that stall over there? It just opened a couple of days ago, selling something they called "Coffee". A new drink brought by those Merchant, although I can hardly appreciate it very popular among those lower-class."

"The Atlas is huge enough for us to spend our whole life to uncover it, Miseur. There be more stuff for us to discover," said Vaterian, as he talking his hand grabbed his sword tighter.

"Yes indeed, However just to fully understand and govern this city is enough for my whole life, I am not that young to run around the world anymore, and I found something worth more than learning new stuff. Staying with this city till the end of my life, that is what I wished."

"It lucky that the Grand duke had such a servant like you. I didn't expect the spirit of chivalry to exist in this land, it usually only exists in the north, if the information given by Livius is true." Said Vaterian showing his jealousy by comparing the Man and his mate.

"Is it? I never knew that in this world that had people as noble as I did, maybe I should go there and take a look back in the day. It's bad that now I had mine and the other family on my shoulder, I can't walk away anymore." Stefan Complain about his life but the smile on his face show he enjoys such a heavy responsibility.

"So maybe you can introduce us those wonderful streets that are worth your life for? Especially this one that we stood at. I never saw a road paved by marbles." Igor bring the conversation back to where it started, and more specific questions were asked.

"I almost forgot about it if you don't bring that question up, this street is known as the Granduca Straße. Named by the title of the lord, it's the most important street in this city. As a kid, I also ran on this street and always have a lot of fun, although it changes its name constantly its core always remains the same." Stefan describes this street in detail with some of his personal experiences.

"Constantly change its name? Why would it occur" asked Igor.

"It's a tradition to rename this street by the current ruler name, but 75 ago Stefan from Karlsburg save this city from the Carpathian, as a gift the reigning duke let him name the street. Although hard to admit the Markish King did do a great job at avoiding future conflict, by naming the street after the title, not by anyone's name." Said Stefan, he seems not too friendly about the person who saved this city.

"Good for the citizen then, no need to keep changing the word they used. I might go crazy if I need to keep my tongue in check when said out its name, it's not a good idea to say the name of your lord incorrectly. Isn't it?" Vaterian taps the pommel of the sword with its finger, capturing the attention of Stefan.

"In theory it is. However there are not a lot of people who get into jail by it, we don't have ears at every corner of the city," replied Stefan.

Finding out the conversation started to turn tense, Igor quickly try to change the topic. A building caught his attention. A building with a green roof and white wall, with some gold-paved statue, attach to it. In front of it is a crowd surrounding a well-decorated coach.

"What is that building over there? It looks so elegant!" Igor asks this question with a volume near shouting, trying to drag all attention from the two others. Vaterian notices his problem and quickly turn his head in the direction Igor points.

"That is Musikverein, one of the greatest structures in this city. Even the heir of the family Von Nassau had come here to visit this building," said Stefan, it's very clear who is in the coach.

"Why did the heir get surrounded by such a lot of people, shouldn't they be kept safe?" asked Igor.

"The Legatarius came out on his own, I can't even stop him. That's why I wander around here, just to keep him safe. Most of the guard is already protecting his father, not much can we spare on him." complain Stefan over the heir.

"You sure is fine to tell us about that? It might appear that we are some killer aiming for him." Vaterian pulls out his sword slightly showing the edge of the sword. The beautiful pattern on the sword shows the incredible technic of the person who forges it.

"You better let the sword stay sheath, you standing in front of the government official." after seeing Vaterian put back his sword and cover it up with his cloak, Stefan continued. "The news about the arrival of the Von Nassau had been spread across the city, it just one more person know about it even I told you so, and they would left after the legatarius finished The Opera. They might leave here soon, if you really came for him, I sadly inform you that you might run out of time."

"So, can you talk about the place we going to find the caravan? I don't wish to go in there with a blind eye." It seems like Vaterian is not interested in the architecture from Talismania.

"What happened to you? it's very rare that you don't interested in art. I thought you always been inspired by it." Igor surprised by the unconcern from Vaterian asked. This made Stefan a bit concerned about Vaterian, or Alexandro as he knew, a threatful joke follow by some unusual behavior always attracts others' attention.

"Yes I did had a great interest in art but sadly we had no time to enjoy those music and opera created by anyone, one-second waste here is one second slower to meet miss Layla," said Vaterian.

"That's fair enough." surprisingly Igor didn't say a lot, he agree with Vaterian and hold his hand tightly. Vaterian saw the sadness flow on Igor's face, he take out the romance and pass it to Igor. "Take it, make sure you won't leave it at other places. By the way, it's a nice book. Not bad for your sense of taste."

Stefan had a blink on that book, it called "Uptown Girls" by Horatio Drake, but he was more interested in other things. "Who is the miss... Lila?" "Is Layla, Miseur." Vaterian seems not happy that the Stadthalter make such a huge mistake. "She is his mother, my adoptive mother. She fell ill that's why we need to head back to Karchidon."

"Sorry." Stefan takes down his hat and apologizes to them, which surprised the Teenagers. "It must be tough for you guys to go through these times, can't stay beside your family when they are in trouble is always a disaster."

"Never mind, I had seen worst, but not for this guy though," said Vaterian while pointing at Igor. "Clear your mind and get over it." Vaterian calmed Igor down and asked the answer again, "So where are we going?"

"Toward the BierHaus, 'Beer and Honey', it might not be the biggest Bierhaus in this city but it was the most expensive one and its price directly translated to its service. Most of the caravan like to stay there for the somedays."

"BierHaus ? for somedays?" Vaterian is confused by the combination of words, he can't imagine how these words get along. "We live in the Hostel during Uni, and he never been to a Bierhaus because he doesn't drink any alcohol, that's why he had no idea." Before Stefan asked his question, Igor had answered it clearly.

"Bierhaus in here is equal to an Inn, remember that," Igor told Vaterian. "Thanks," Vaterian replied.

"Remember, I would only lead you to the BierHaus. The rest of the job you need to do it yourself." Stefan noted them.

Suddenly, Stefan halted his step. "Here, we had arrived at our destination, Beer and Honey."
