Even before Ariadne encountered the basilisk, she was having a rotten day.
She had woken up in a dark room, had no idea where she was and why she was here. Not that she could remember anything anyways. She could hardly recall her name, which had taken an hour of concentration to remember. Just your usual morning.
After several hours locked in the room, a loud albeit ugly voice told her she was to find her way to the capital of Kraj'ha alive. The voice made it sound like it were a death wish. Nonetheless, the voice continued by saying that Ariadne had 6 days to reach there or she would die in an exceedingly painful way that she couldn't even imagine in her wildest dreams. How cheerful.
Anyways, after the voice had finished talking, a door in front of her (how could I not have noticed that?) opened to reveal... a village? Seriously? She was locked in a house of a village? Ariadne figured that how extremely stupid that was, so was the quest given by the voice to reach the capital of the weird-sounding place. Anyways, she had plenty of time so she decided to roam the village.
The village wasn't really big: scattered shops, people moving and chatting as if it were just a normal day, simple houses on the side of the pathway, and a large lake right in the middle of the village. Also, there was a dense forest right next to the village.
The village was pretty clean and colorful. Ariadne took a liking to the village immediately, because the people were very good to her. Even though she didn't have a penny, they had provided her with delicious food and a set of clothes to replace the rags she was wearing. Many people had complimented her beauty, which surprised her since she didn't remember how she looked. When she asked them how old she looked(This is sooooo awkward), most replied that she was 15 or 16.
Anyways, enough of that. After refreshing herself, she went towards the forest. She mysteriously felt a connection between her and the forest as if the forest was meeting a long-time friend.
The forest was beautiful, the flowers were vibrant and pretty and the scattered rays of the sun reflected from the flowers. This scene was very peaceful and looked straight out of a fantasy picture. But good times don't last for long.
Ariadne was sitting with her eyes closed, enjoying the sunlight on her face when suddenly, a shadow fell upon her face. In front of Ariadne, a big basilisk was slithering towards her, getting closer by the second. Its mouth was open, displaying a set of sharp, venomous teeth, on which a few drops of dried blood remained. Ariadne's heart beat fast as her brain worked at full speed. She couldn't die like this but what could she do?
