The wave of mana didn't just destroy what was left of the village. It also created small cracks in the ice layer. With one move, the layer of ice was turned to dust and the chimera monster was now free.
Flora predicted this so she wasn't surprised. Blood trickled down her beautiful face showing a wild side of Flora that was weirdly charming. She wiped her face with the back of her hands.
'Tch...That was close.' She thought. If Flora was late by even a tenth of a second, she would've been killed or at least heavily injured.
Soon enough, The chimera located Flora with its red creepy eyes. At this point, all of the tentacles have regenerated making things worse.
"ROARRRRR!!!!!" The chimera growled angrily and launched all of its limbs at the same time. It was an all-out attack.
"Shit!" Cursed Flora and instantly used body enhancement. Boom! The tentacles were even faster than before. Flora couldn't even think and she let her instincts lead her away from danger. She was basically dancing with death, as she moved in between the sea of attacks. Of course, she couldn't evade every single attack. The shards of rock, wood and other things scratched her body. Blood gushed out but she couldn't even find the time to stop the bleeding. All she could do was dodge, cut and dodge again. It was an endless cycle that Flora couldn't get out of.
'Fuck, I'm getting out of mana' Using her ice manipulation took a toll on her mana core, coupled with mana enhancement she was basically exhausted to the bone. If the mana core was exhausted the user will réel string fatigue or even lose consciousness depending on the situation.
And true enough, her body lost a little bit of its speed. This was enough for one of the tentacles to hit its target. Flora looked at it and smiled.
Even though she was looking at death, she just smiled. It was a smile of confidence and certainty. Flora for some reason felt that she won't die.
"Sorry to make you wait." A gentle voice reached her ears and a strong hand pulled her from behind. When she looked back, she found Ray who held her tightly in his embrace and ran away from the chimaera. When he ran far enough, he stopped near a tree and gently placed Flora there.
"Drink this potion. your injuries are not light." He said as he gave her a bottle with green liquid in it.
"It's ok. I believed you will save me. Thank you! " She said as she took the bottle and giggled lightly.
"You did a good job. That thing is pissed. Just relax and leave everything to me." He patted her on the head and then disappeared instantly.
"Yes. Yes, Mister hero." She rolled her eyes while sipping on the healing potion he gave her.
*************
Meanwhile, the chimera was confused about what just happened. It was certain that the human will be finally squashed like a bug but somehow there was nothing left of her. This chimera was by no means smart or even have a consciousness of its own but it still was smarter than other animals or monsters. So understanding that the human has run away was not something far fetched at all.
So it halted its movement waiting for any surprise attack, but nothing happened. It was quiet, except for the howls of wind that carried the leftovers of what was once a peaceful village. In just one night, everything was destroyed beyond repair and all but broken houses and corpses of humans left and right was erased.
"Searching for something?" A cheeky voice reached the chimera's ears (If it had one.). When it turned around, it found the human who threw pointy needles at it before. 'Why do they keep coming?' It thought as it roared furiously.
"Look at me. I'm running away." Shouted Ray as he made a running pose but then he made a surprised look and said while laughing disdainfully. "Oops, why should I run? You're fucking weak after all." He said as pointed at chimera with a cold smile.
Even though it did not understand what the human said, the body language was universal and this piece of shit was using it to make fun of this mighty one.
At this point, 'rage' was not enough to describe the state of the chimera. It has lost all reason that it barely even had. Another all-out attack of tentacles was sent towards Ray who also disappeared from his place and reappeared on the other side.
'You think you can keep running away. Good fucking luck.' It probably thought as it made its tentacles surround Ray and close every possible escape route from him.
This plan seemed to work as the tentacles crushed Ray and created a huge crater I'm the ground. It was over.
When the chimera felt something getting squished under its tentacles it relaxed as this meant the human is dead.
Suddenly a sharp, mind-numbing pain made the chimera shriek loudly. A massive injury ran through its abdomen and to its back appeared out of nowhere.
"As planned. Thank you for being an idiot." A sarcastic answered the chimera's wails of suffering.
"Now let's end this over." Ray was standing near the chimera so he extended his hand and touched the injury that ran through Its massive body. He then used every ounce of his mana and channelled blood manipulation. He then did something unexpected instead of trying to absorb the blood out of its body he reversed the blood flow inside it.
Mind you, this was by no means something he could pull off in normal situations. First of all, he needs physical contact with the enemy and he also needs that enemy to be in a defenceless or confused state so that he doesn't reject the mana that invades his body. All of this wasn't always available in a deadly fight, so Ray had to do something to make it work.
Amid its messy state, the chimera looked at the place where it thought Ray was dead, instead of bits and pieces of flesh there was only a pool of blood that stained the ground.
It didn't even have time to process anything when it felt something pop like a bubble inside its body. The massive 100-meter long body fell down from the air and crashed violently on the ground.
Ray looked at the chimera with emotionless eyes while standing on the top of it like a mighty king who stood on the remains of his enemy.
'I guess making a doppelganger out of blood wasn't that bad of an idea.' He thought.
The pool of blood was actually a copy of Ray he made out of blood. Because it was quite dark as its night the chimera couldn't differentiate between what's real and what's fake so when it saw 'Ray' Standing it didn't think twice and instantly attacked creating an opening in its defence.
'In all of the thousands of years I existed. You're the first one to think of such an idea.' Praised Samguis with an amazed voice.
"hoo...Who thought the all high and might Sanguis will praise me. You finally know how smart I am?" Joked Ray as he jumped from the top of the monster.
"Hmph...Go kill yourself! Like hell do I care. Do whatever the fuck you want" Pouted Sanguis.
Ray could only roll his eyes and ignore his weird partner.
'I need to get back to Flora'
