Chapter 7 - 07 - Skills for Players

Arthur was right... he was shocked at the way these players killed goblins. The more goblins they killed, the crazier they got!

It got to the point where the players had been surrounded by a group of 20 goblins. 20 goblins against 3 players, it goes without saying that it was a goblin massacre, but to Arthur's surprise, before they died, each player still killed a goblin and died laughing.

Even the goblins were a little intimidated by these crazy humans! They had never seen humans who didn't care about their own death in a way like this! Normally they attacked humans, and humans ran away crying and begging not to die, but those humans in front of them were the opposite, when they got surrounded then they laughed the most and ran to die with big smiles.

A day had passed since players started using this tactic and the Temple of Resurrection was getting busier. Every few minutes a group of players would appear there, laughing and having fun, completely different from the scene of a group that went through difficulties.

"Hey, how many points do you have?" One player asked the other.

"I have 16 points!" The other player said with a proud smile.

"Damn 16 points?! I'm only 12!" The first player said frustrated.

"Hahaha, killing Goblins here is so much more fun! While I played other games I only had to press a button on the keyboard and I always thought goblins were much weaker, but now when I actually have to fight them it makes my blood boil! I really feel like I'm getting stronger!" The player said with a big smile.

This scene took place in various places in the sect. Players compared how many points they had and bragged when they had more points than another player.

Arthur looked at the system screen to see how many points the players had already earned.

In order for all players to complete the mission they would have to get 9900 points in total, they would not necessarily need to kill 9900 monsters, as killing more powerful monsters would yield more points, but with their current strength it was difficult to fight really more powerful monsters .

But the list shocked Arthur even more.

[Souls God: 42/100]

[Mongold: 21/100]

...

[18/100]

[17/100]

[17/100]

[16/100]

Arthur looked at the player with the most points and had no reaction. He didn't imagine there was someone who could earn so many points in such a short time.

Considering that these players had the mission active for 24 hours, a player having already achieved 42% of the points needed to complete this made Arthur curious.

Using System Arthur located this player and ran to him.

Once there, Arthur saw a single player being surrounded by three goblins. But instead of a bloody battle where the two sides fought all the time, which was common with other players' battles, this time Arthur saw that this player was doing something unbelievable.

*Rolling, Rolling, Rolling*

"Is this…is this player really rolling around on the floor?" Arthur wondered, not knowing what to do.

And to Arthur's dismay, this player doing somersaults on the ground was actually working to dodge the attacks of these 3 goblins.

Every time he saw an opening, the player would pick up a rock and hit a goblin before going back to somersaulting across the floor and dodging the goblins.

Slowly that battle was converting from a one-way attack by the goblins, to playing left intact and the goblins starting to get hurt.

Because of the Mortal Mana Core, the player's muscles were much tougher than normal people's muscles, so even though the battle had been going on for 30 minutes, the player only had a slightly fatigued expression on his face, but still held on to continue rolling. on the ground and attacking when he saw an opportunity.

After 1 hour of battle, the three goblins finally died and the player sat on the ground exhausted before returning to the sect and resting to go back to killing goblins.

Arthur looked at this scene and didn't know what to think.

The scene of the player rolling on the ground was something ridiculous, but after seeing it happen in person Arthur noticed that this move was really effective, every time the goblins would attack the player, he would roll on the ground and dodge at the critical moment.

Looking again at the Nick of player 'Souls God' Arthur had a little idea why this player played this way.

When Souls God returned to the sect, Arthur issued an announcement to the game's system.

[Disciples, return to the sect, the Master has something to discuss with you. ]

When the players saw this they were very excited, as the time for the quest wasn't over yet, the NPC probably wouldn't fail them, but rather give them a hand with something.

Even players who weren't logged into the game, after receiving the game notification quickly grabbed their helmet and quickly logged in to see what the DM would say.

Within 5 minutes all players returned to the Sect and gathered around the Temple of Resurrection. Players who were farther away from the sect, too lazy to walk back even decided to kill themselves for the goblins to get back faster and not have to walk all the way back.

Arthur when he saw this had to control himself not to Facepalm, if some normal human saw these people killing themselves so they wouldn't need to walk for a few minutes who wouldn't go crazy?

"Disciples, this sect master observed your efforts to kill the goblins, and while some disciples surprised me by getting more points than this master thought you would, other disciples on the other hand failed to kill enough monsters and maybe cannot complete the 100 points by the end of the 3 days." Arthur said in a serious tone. He was wearing a very exquisite white outfit that made his prestige as Sect Master even greater. But inside he was a little angry, as this pretty outfit had no effect other than being pretty and elegant and he had received that with today's sign-in.

Players who were previously excited were a little sad to hear this, after all, they knew that with their speed of getting points, it would be very difficult to complete the 100 points in the remaining 48 hours, considering they still had things to do outside of the game, in addition to eating and sleeping in real life.

But Arthur soon continued. "But on the other hand, this master is very pleased with your attitude of being creative and developing effective techniques with the things that are available for you to use, so that's why I decided to make an exception for you and leave the sect library available for you to use during this task. In the library there are magic skills you can practice, but each skill costs contribution points to learn, of course the first skill is free, so use it wisely."

When Arthur finished saying this, he turned and left, leaving the players with a system notification in front of them.

[You made the master proud with your efforts. With that, the sect's library is officially open. The rules are...]

Players spent a few minutes reading the rules so they didn't do anything wrong, but when they saw that it was something so simple, quickly the people with the fastest reading rushed to the library to be able to choose their own skills first.

Tony was one of those people, as he didn't have a lot of fighting skills, he had only accumulated 11 contribution points, which he knew wasn't enough to be able to join the sect when the time for the mission ran out.

So he ran to the library and quickly got in front of one of the ATMs.

There were only 4 skills, but looking at those skills Tony's eyes lit up.

[Muscle Amplification: increases a person's damage and stamina.]

[Fire Control: allows the user to control the flames and use it as they wished.]

[Water Control: allows the user to control the waters and use it as they wished.]

[Mana Inject: allows the user to inject mana into objects such as knives to make things sharper and more lethal. ]

Tony was excited to see these skills and to imagine the potential this would have in the future, but he was soon disappointed that he could only choose one of the skills.

"Does this game have such a skill tree? Where do I have to pick a class and then just develop that? Or is it like Skyrim where I can pick any skill and learn everything?" Tony asked himself as he looked at the skills.

Ultimately he decided to choose the skill he thought was coolest.

[Water Control]

After he saw the Master use this ability to make a mighty water dragon, Tony fell in love with this ability and also wanted to be able to do it one day.

So after taking the scroll the ATM had given him, Tony went to a more secluded spot in the library and sat down to learn the scroll's contents.

As there were only 5 ATMs, players had to queue up to be able to choose their own skills, but as early players read aloud what each skill did, players' time to choose skills became much shorter as most had already arrived at the ATM and decided on what to choose.

When Tony opened the parchment, instead of English words he knew, a rune-like language appeared which glowed before causing the parchment to evaporate and a light entering Tony's mind.

He was startled by this initially, but within seconds he closed his eyes and began to absorb all the knowledge from the parchment.

It didn't teach him any specific application of the skill, much less how to make a water dragon, just teaching him how to control the water and be able to do basic things with it, which made Tony very disappointed.

But the more time he spent absorbing the knowledge of the scroll, the more shocked Tony became, as he began to realize how different this game was from other games he had played before.

Rather than being a specific skill, [Water Control] taught players a broad concept, where how to use this skill depended solely on the player's mana and imagination!

After absorbing the parchment, Tony didn't think twice and ran from the sect in search of a lake.

Soon he found the lake that was used in the promotional video and decided to test the skill.

His first idea was to try to make the water dragon he had seen in the video, but as soon as he started pouring mana into the dragon craft skill, Tony realized that the mana consumption for it was much higher than what he currently had, to the point that not even the dragon's head was formed and Tony already felt exhausted.

'If just making the dragon's head is already so tiring, how high is the master's strength to be able to make a dragon as realistic as that one?' Tony asked himself shocked, as the players hadn't yet seen the DM act.

After a few minutes Tony recovered the lost mana and decided to use the ability to try something simpler, like simply controlling a small ball of water.

Using the movements of the parchment, Tony started to move like a dancer, and soon a ball of water came out of the lake and was under Tony's control, leaving him very happy and shocked.

"I really am becoming a powerful wizard..."

This scene was happening in several places around the sect. The players started to test the skills of the library and were shocked to realize that they felt the mana move through their body in an extremely realistic way, to the point that almost everyone forgot that it was just a game.

But elsewhere, there was a player with a huge smile on his face. This player was a little tired because of his game strategy for killing monsters, as it was too tiring and it hurts his muscles a bit, but after getting the skill he wanted from the library, this player was confident of taking down a Mid monster. Deadly Core now!

For a player like him who was addicted to fighting extremely powerful monsters, having to spend so much time fighting goblins was a bit tiring, but now that he had a new skill, Souls God was very excited to put it to the test.

At that point, the Divine Sect's Legendary Strategy became even more powerful. The Rolling Army that will make enemies desperate began to emerge.
