Chapter 69 - Chapter 68

Hisoki sat down in his first grade classroom, reading over Kiso's note. Over and over again.

02 September 07 Kiso

I made your lunch. Nothing bad will happen today. Promise

Kiso had promised. That meant everything to him. His friend, Alexander, tapped on his shoulder. "Hisoki, whatcha reading?" He asked curiously. Hisoki quickly shut the book. No, that was his secret. No one can read it. Not even Alex. "*N- nothing.*" He mumbled. He sat the leather book down, standing up from the circular table. "*Let's go play with puzzles.*" Hisoki said excitedly.

Alex looked at him confused, frowning. He tilted his head to the side, staring at Hisoki. "*Did you fall?*" Alex asked worriedly. Hisoki stared at him, before looking down at his body. He didn't usually show skin on his arms, and today was no different. He tilted his head lightly in confusion. Alex reached to grab Hisoki's hand.

A bite mark.

A small one for sure, but still. If an adult saw it would be obvious what it was. Hisoki snatched his hand away, hiding it. Alex pouted. "*Oh, yeah. I just hit my hand.*" He mumbled, placing his hand over his other one. Alex stared at him for a moment. "Can I see it?" Alex asked with a smile, but Hisoki shook his head.

Alex didn't seem to understand, since he grabbed HIsoki's hand anyway to see the bruise, but Hisoki snatched it away again with a huff. "*Don't touch me.*" Hisoki muttered. He scooted away slightly. Alex seemed hurt, but he defensively huffed. "*Why won't you let me see?*" Hisoki immediately retaliated.

"*It's none of your business.*" Hisoki muttered. Alex huffed, grabbing HIsoki's wrist to pull him forward. He grabs the edge of the boy's sleeve, yanking it to his elbows. Bruises and cuts from different people tattooed his skin. Some might heal with scarring, others might not. Alex gasped quietly at the sight.

That's it.

Sahae took charge, snatching his wrist from Alex's grip. He swung a punch at the boy's jaw, pushing him to the floor. He pulled the turtlenecks sleeve back down, crossing his arms defensively. Alex, not shockingly, started to cry. The teacher, Mrs. Herbus, quickly ran over to the two. Sahae cradled his arm as if it was hurt, not wanting anyone else to go near him.

Not wanting anyone to go near Hisoki.

"What happened? Sweetheart, are you ok?" Mrs. Herbus asked, crouching to pick Alex up. The young boy cradle his jaw, hiding his face in the teachers side. "Hi- Hisoki hit me!" He cried. Everyone was staring at him. Hisoki didn't do that, Sahae did. They were two very different people. But Sahae knew not everyone thought that. "He grabbed me! I told him not to but he still did!" Sahae yelled defensively.

Mrs. Herbus gave him a grim look. "That doesn't mean you get to hit someone-"

"But he touched me! And I told him to stop!"

"Hisoki, that is not the right way to speak-"

"But that's unfair! He grabbed my arm!"

"Hisoki-"

"THAT'S NOT MY NAME!"

Mrs. Herbus looked at him with sympathy. Like he was a lost puppy that needed a home. A child pushed in the wrong direction. Sahae hated that look. Alex had stopped crying, cradling his jaw. He looked scared of Sahae. Like he was going to punch the boy again. "Jessica, come take Hisoki to the counselor's office to call him parents." Jessica was the student teacher, mostly there to help the teacher work.

Jessica nodded, opening her hand out for Sahae to take. "Let's go." She said with a soft smile. Sahae looked at her hesitantly, reaching over to grab his leather book, before turning over to Jessica. He placed a hand on her. "Ok." That was the last time Sahae would trust someone,

And not end up broken.
