Thinking of something, he lifted the piece of metal and selected it for trade, putting the trade values to be 1 tonne of Metal.
And just like that, the piece of metal in his hand disappeared.
"This…! This can be used as a form of storage, and even if some idiot actually buys it, it'll only be profit and no loss."
Although the number of items he had gotten were low, the island itself was small, making it appear crowded. Now that he found such a marvellous function, however, Max quickly 'traded' each item for 1,000 times the quantity of the same item, and smiled as he watched them all disappear.
Cancelling a trade, the item reappeared before him, making him nod in satisfaction as he set the item for trade once more.
"Looks like we can find loopholes in the functions on our own…but I don't think there are any loopholes in 'Status', 'Chat', and 'Mail' functions. And as for the 'Base' function, it can be used as a radar for intruders if the island becomes too big, I guess…"
Shaking his head at the thought, he glanced at the final function.
"'Build'…"
Opening it, he found several 'designs' already present on the window.
"Wooden Plank(F), a more durable wooden plank of the same dimensions as Wooden Plank(G)…requires 10 Wooden Plank(F)s…"
"Metal(F), a more durable metal of the same weight as Metal(G)…requires 10 kgs of Metal(G)…"
"Bread(F), a tastier and more fulfilling bread than Bread(G)…conversion ratio is the same, 10 : 1…"
"Water(F), a tastier, purer water containing more minerals than Water(G)…same conversion ratio…"
Looking at the available designs, Max shook his head.
"None of these are what I need right now…"
Then there were some useful designs, such as 'Wooden Spear(G)', which is just a sharpened wooden rod, 'Rope(G)', 1m of which can be mads from 1m I'd fibre…
"Oh? Something useful?"
Looking at one of the designs, Max paused.
[Fishing Rod(G)]
It required 1 unit each of Wood, Fibre / Rope, and Metal.
And Bait(G) can be made using 10g of Bread(G).
"The Grades of items should go from G to F, E, D, C, B, A, S, SS, and finally SSS."
Looking at the other designs, each of the basic resources indeed went from G, all the way to SSS. Of course, the quantity required increased with each succeeding Grade.
"For water…10 units of Water(G) can be made into 1 unit of Water(F), but from F to E, and from E to D, it takes 100 units of Water of the previous Grade…and it takes 1,000 units of Water(C) to make 1 unit of Water(B), 1,000 units of Water(B) to make 1 unit of Water(A)…"
After Grade A, the quantity required sky rocketed.
"100,000 units of Water(A) to make 1 unit of Water(S), 10,000,000 units of Water(S) for 1 unit of Water(SS), and 1,000,000,000 units of Water(SS) for 1 unit of Water(SSS)."
The later Grades were quite scary, but it wasn't really required for Max at the moment.
"For now, this one is far more useful than whatever SSS Grade materials…"
Looking once more at the G Grade Fishing Rod, Max selected to build it, as well as 10g of G Grade Bait using 100g of Bread(G).
"Instant building? That's nice…"
Max's eyes widened in surprise before he smiled at the sight of the fishing rod and bait that appeared before him.
"Well…time to fish, I guess…"
Looking around, there was literally nothing else he could do. Thinking so, Max put attached the bait to the hook and swung the rod.
"I clearly gave only 1 unit of fibre, which would make 1 metre of rope, yet the fishing string is actually 3 metres in length…how strange."
Shaking his head at the thought, he looked at the prompt which appeared the moment he swung the rod.
((Conditions met. Learn skill [Fishing(G)]?))
"This…well, why not?"
Thinking about it, Max nodded and confirmed, and the next moment…
((Confirmed. Skill [Fishing(G)] learned.))
((Conditions met. Talent [Absolute Skill Mastery(G)] activated. Skill [Fishing(G)] levelled up to Max level.))
"…woah…"
That was all he could mutter out loud as Max felt a literal explosion in his mind.
In one short moment, which to him seemed to have extended to an eternity instead, he felt all the knowledge and experience of a fisherman, from the very basics to high grade stuff, from swing the rod to the appropriate bait to catch a certain species of fish…
All of such knowledge and experience, and much, much more, flowed into his mind and even body, and imprinted itself onto him.
For a moment, Max remained in a daze, before he slowly lifted the fishing rod. Then, with a twist of his body, maintaining his lower body erect and moving only his arms and waist, he cast the hook.
"This…this is incredible…"
Max's eyes trembled as he realised how truly remarkable skills, especially skills of Max level, were.
And as if to prove once more how amazing the skill was, a window containing the skill's description appeared before him.
. . . . . .
[Fishing(G)(Lv-Max)]
Description : Also called 'Angling', the activity of using a 'Fishing Rod' and / or other similar instruments and tools to either catch fish, or other objects, from under water.
Max Level Bonus : Increase casting speed, line length, stability, success rate, caught quantity, etc… by 100%.
. . . . . .
Merely seconds after reading it, Max felt a tug. Instinctively, purely out of muscle memory that the max level skill provided, Max tugged his hand, and twitched his fingers as in one stroke, he brought the miraculously extended fishing line out of the sea.
And what appeared at the end of the hook, was not one, but TWO similar fish struggling to escape.
"…wow…"
At that moment, Max felt himself at a loss for words.
"My talent…really strong…"
