The boy ran through the burning streets. He had known that it wasn't just his house that was on fire, but he didn't realize that the entire city had gone up in flames. Building came crashing down around him, some fell quietly while others exploded, scattering their debris throughout the city. At first he didn't notice, but soon he had to start looking carefully around him as he ran; so as not to have his life suddenly snuffed out by a flaming projectile. Eventually, things started to wind down. The flames were getting less intense the further he ran. He felt safer.
It was then that he ran headfirst into a riot.
