When we reached their home. His father was sitting on the porch. He saw us coming and came out to help. He picked up Maka and Josh came from behind. He grabbed the stroller from me. Relieved but terrified, I relaxed my body a bit. I walked a bit slower than yesterday. I dared not walk my normal pace. What if the pain becomes too much or I move too much? What if the bleeding starts up again? So many what if scenarios ran through my head. I quickly found myself a seat and stuck to it. Mr. Kevin was playing with my siblings. He grabbed a tarp, soap, water hose, kid pool and a bunch of baby toys. Then they all got to work putting it all together. Josh walked over to me and offered me to join but I told him I couldn't. It's a girl thing.. I don't want to dirty the water with it. So they continued to have fun. Slowly as I sat there watching. I felt the pain start coming in. It was stronger than it was when I first got there. So I asked his father if I could take a few pain killers for my headache. He brought me two bottles. He told me to pick one and take only two pills. Then he returned to my siblings. So I took two from each and swallowed it quickly with water. Everyone was having so much fun. Comfortable and happy to know they were safe. I fell asleep at the table on their porch. When I woke I was on his bed with my siblings. He was on a blow up bed next to us. I was in agonizing pain. So I carefully and quietly slid off the bed. His father was still awake. I apologized and asked if I could take another set of pills. He said they were in the bathroom. While in the restroom I realized I wasn't wearing my clothes. Panic ran through me. I took two of each, used the restroom and washed up. I went to throw away my paper towel and saw a bunch of bloody gauze in the trash. At this point I was terrified. What could I tell them? Definitely not the truth but I couldn't tell them I did it to myself either. Once I opened the door His father called me over to him. So I quietly walked over and sat down across from him. He looked at me and asked what happened to my back. I tried to think of something, anything but I couldn't. Nothing was coming to mind. So I told him the only thing I could think of. It was an accident. I wasn't paying attention and I ended up getting hurt. I'm sorry I didn't tell you guys. I really didn't want to worry you guys. Which is when he said well imagine lifting someone up, laying them in bed and finding your entire body covered in blood. I wanted to tell him the truth in that moment but knew if I did. I knew I would be in so much more trouble. So I apologized again and he said next time tell him. He was married to a doctor and learned a lot. I nodded and asked him about the clothes. He said he called his daughter over to help while I passed out. Then told me I probably fell asleep from all the pain I was in. Now that I think back, he was probably right. Then let me know mother came to check on us. She gave us permission to stay until Sunday night. He sent me back to bed. I thanked him and headed back to bed. Josh was no longer on the blow up bed. He was sitting at the edge of his bed. When he saw me at the door he just smiled at me. Once I was standing next to the bed, he pulled back the covers. So I carefully slid in the blankets and laid down. When I woke the next morning. My siblings were all next to me still asleep. There was a washcloth on my forehead and a bowl of water on the bedside table. I slowly slid out of bed and made my way to the delicious smell. On the table there was tons of food. They had made pancakes, waffles, sausage, eggs, spam, toast, fruit salad, oatmeal and orange juice. Not even a minute after I reached the table. My siblings were up and heading our way. Josh came strolling in the front door holding milk in one hand and a newspaper in the other. He walked over to me and kissed my cheek. Then out loud told everyone Good morning. Thank goodness I was already sitting. The mere thought of him made my knees weak. His touch darn near took all my senses away. He made plates as his father sat quietly at the head of the table. He was drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. It was a very quiet meal but a happy quiet. His father decided today we were all going to go to the park. He had already packed everything and we were ready to head out after breakfast. He had carseats all set up and everything. So after we quickly cleaned up we all headed to the car. My back was hurting again but not nearly as much as before. I made sure I grabbed some medicine and put it in my pocket before we left. I popped two of each in my mouth and followed suit. We all played together. We were having a blast when I realized my back was soaked. So I quickly excused myself to the restroom. I lifted my shirt and found there were these tiny band-aid looking things on my back. The wetness I felt was sweat and not blood. I used the restroom, washed up, used a few towels to wipe down my back. Then I took a few more pills and headed back to them. Josh was waiting for me by the door. I practically crashed right into him. He quickly took a step back. I tried to stop myself and pulled back a little too hard. I nearly fell trying to stop myself from trampling him to death. All that sudden moving caused me to get light headed and I nearly fell. He caught me and held me up. I tried to hold myself up but when I tried. My vision was blurred and my head began to spin. The world around me was spinning so fast I couldn't keep up. My body felt so heavy. My knees were weak. My chest was tight. Just like that everything went dark. When I woke again I freaked a bit. I did not know where I was at first. I sat up and looked around. I was in the hospital. First thing that came to mind was where were my siblings. Josh must've heard me and came in first. I didn't notice at first but mother was in the room. Quietly sitting in the corner of the room watching me. I tried to talk but he shushed me and pointed to the door. In the stroller were Ipo and Lii. Then I looked at mother and Maka was asleep on her lap. I tried to bend my arm but it hurt like crazy. It's when I noticed a blood bag was connected to me. I lost so much blood that I needed a transfusion. Josh stayed the night to help with my siblings. They ended up in bed with me. All curled up in my blankets. Josh brought food in for everyone. I was there nearly a week. Mother left with my siblings. She dropped them off with Josh and his father. They brought them every day. Mother had to work. So they took over for me. While I got better. They took care of the cuts in my back and everything was healing so nicely. After a week of being there. They let me leave. Josh and his father made two trips that night. First he took them home and then he came back to get Josh and I. My back was pretty much healed and I felt so much better. Then my cell phone buzzed. It was mother. She texted me, We will talk when you get home. Fear struck me once again. I knew I messed up. I caused her to leave work early, she missed a day on top of that. I created a medical bill. I made her look bad. Oh boy was I in trouble. Luckily Josh was staying with us that night. Mother looked annoyed but him and his father was not listening to her. I was grateful because they bought me an extra day of no punishment. Josh had to leave in the morning because he had classes to attend. He cooked and cleaned and took my siblings to his dad's. Everything was quiet and there was food next to my bed. He brought his bedside table over. He was being so sweet to me and we barely knew each other. After I finished eating, I headed straight to the bathroom. She met me at the bathroom door with a backhanded slap across my face. A short pause made me think that was it done but boy was I wrong. She repeatedly smacked me but only on my left side. She took care to only slap my face once to prevent leaving marks. She did hit me everywhere else several times. She was yelling at me about everything I did. How it was my fault the police came. They asked a bunch of questions and made her look bad. I apologized. Then she punched my stomach and I tumbled over. At that very same moment she ended up punching my eye and nose at the same time. It was slightly bleeding. She stopped when she realized there was blood on her hand. She scoffed and said I needed to clean up my mess. She walked to the kitchen, made a bag of ice. She wrapped it in a towel and told me to clean up then head back to my room. She didn't want to look at me. So I squatted and cleaned up my blood. Then quietly went back to my bed. When Josh got back he asked me what happened. I told him I got spooked and jumped. I didn't realize he brought the table. Since I was at the edge of the bed when I jumped. I ended up falling off the bed sideways and hitting my face on the way down. She must have been listening because she acted like she was checking in on me. Thank goodness I lied. The amount of trouble I would be in if I told the truth. He just looked at me and said boy you are accident prone aren't you. I laughed a small bit but my ribs were in pain. I quickly grabbed my side and said I think I might have caught my ribs as well. We lifted my shirt and there was this tiny little bruise. He quickly left. When he came back he had pool noodles with slices. All different colors and sizes. He started putting them on everything. My entire room was pretty much baby safe and accident safe. By the time the bruises had healed. Me and Josh were as thick as thieves. From all that time we spent together. It was as expected. We would spend every moment together. He practically lived with us. If he was not working with his family or going to his classes. He was with me and my siblings. Once everything was healed and it was time to resume life. It all went back to normal.... Those painless, happy times were becoming nothing but a sweet memory.
