He had used his power as a Demonborn to slow the descent, allowing them to land with easy on the ground below. If they were going to leave they had to go now, the headmaster and military would be arriving at their dorm any moment. Xizreth grabbed Felice by the hand and ran as hard and fast as he could.
"Felice we are going west to the outer wall and over it!" Xizreth said breathlessly.
"We are doing what?!" Felice replied. "The walls are taller than our dorm building! How on Terra are we supposed to that?!"
"Just trust me Felice, we're going to be okay!" he replied smiling and running harder. Jumping the Wall would be easy, he thought to himself. Surviving in the desert would not. Especially with two people. That's the part he hadn't figured out yet.
---
"Open up Mr. Digas, we know you are in there! This is the Military, and you will comply," a booming voice came from outside of the dorm. "If you choose not comply within three seconds, we will be forced to use extreme measures."
"This is your Headmaster young man. I've come with the Principal. You are not in any trouble as of yet, the Military wishes to speak with you about the events of yesterday."
No noise could be heard on the other side of the door. General Daizen was tapping his foot impatiently, he had no time for this foolishness. He raised two fingers and motiones towards the door. Two soldiers stepped forward and kicked the door with incredible force, causing to fall inwardly.
The dorm room was empty, the window open, and no trace of Xizreth Digas could be found. The General approached the window and looked down, then off into the distance. The figure of two people disappeared in a small forested area that doubled as a park.
That boy is smart, Daizen thought to himself. Too smart. This won't be easy. He placed his hand on a small button on the communications device in his ear.
"Surround the Academy of Tomorrow, lockdown all classrooms. Do not let Xizreth Digas escape under any circumstances. I repeat...Do not let Xizreth Digas escape under any circumstances."
Daizen looked at Headmaster Thornsbury and Principal Vex.
"I need a list of all the students currently in classes. Underline any student recognized as absent from class for any reason. Xizreth Digas is not alone and needs to be apprehended immediately. He is to be considered dangerous. The Military expects and appreciates your cooperation."
Daizen turned back towards the window with his fingers laced behind his back. So the son of Vannak Digas has awakened and is on the move, he thought to himself. He had a feeling a deep inside that this was the start of something big.
---
They did it. They finally reached the outer of wall of the academy. All they had left to do was go up and over. Easy enough, he thought to himself.
"Xizreth Digas! This is the Military! You are hereby ordered to cease your attempted escape, hand over your hostage, and await transportation!" a voice boomed through a megaphone.
"You've got to be kidding me," Xizreth moaned looking up into the sky. "Hey Felice, my only goal is to make sure you get through this unscathed. But in order for that to happen you have to trust me."
"I trust you Xizreth Digas," she said breathlessly. "Whatever it is your planning I know we will be okay."
That makes one of us, he thought to himself. The tribal symbols on his body began to glow with a deep crimson light and his body began to change shape slowly. Felice couldn't take her eyes away from him. Where once was the man she was falling for, now stood a formidable looking Demon. He was terrifying and mesmerizing to look at. She almost didn't hear him when he told her to climb on his back, nor did she realize she had already done so. It was as if her body had moved on its own while her eyes were transfixed on them. She wrapped her arms tightly around his torso and pushed close against him closing her eyes.
The sensation that passed over her was a feeling of being truly weightless. She felt him jump hard, and then, nothing. She wasn't ever sure they were still moving. All she knew was they'd be safe. they had to be.
Xizreth was leaping in hard bounds up the side of the wall. He had released a blanket of demonic energy around Felice when he had jumped the first time. By now she couldn't see, hear, or feel anything but comfort. He was close to the top, maybe a twenty meter stretch left to go, he had just had to keep going forward and dodge the bullets being fired at them and they'd be free. Once they breached the walls nobody would bother to come after them anymore without further orders.
The Military continued to fire at them, Xizreth was almost there. Before he realized it they had made it to the top of wall. The view spread out before him was a vast desert dotted with oases, but to him it was paradise and freedom. He could still hear the order for him to cease and desist, but it didn't matter anymore. With a step he dropped off the edge of the wall.
