Dream world or maybe it was imaginary or a throwback, I don't even know but one thing is sure, we need to know about the world, main character and general understanding of this world so let get's into it.
Thousand of years ago, after the humans learned about magic, they prospered quickly, conquered the other races of the Elysian continent, then stretched far and wide and discovered other planes of existence and set on a mind-grippling journey which in turn they conquered, making other races and planes think that Elysian continent was the central or mother plane but....
There was a catch, according to all existences and even human mages themselves knew their weakness 'close combat', so at first the mages settled down and researched it, decided that they were to use dragons but being a proud and noble race only agreed to be mounts due to their low fertility, so dragons couldn't be used, then the dwarves but dwarves were not made for war and only for making war weapons until....
One day, a certain mage now renowned as the greatest spiritual mage 'Archmage Fordunaz'; [to the extent that a certain month is named after him], a story for another time; discovered that powerful animals couldn't be used due to their instinctual behaviors so decided to transfer a core from a dead experimented animal with the use of spells and a powerful formation into a normal human which became the catalyst that made mages create and train armies who were now used to aid the mages in their invasion and conquest of other planes of existence. The Core formed in humans was as a result of experiments and research to the extent that humans could even form their own cores in their own body.
After the 'War' and magic started to go extinct or maybe we could say depletes, 'sword gods' and 'sword saints' rebelled and forced mages to become spiritual lords and made them build weapons and create Empires but when the sword gods noticed that their children and subordinates needed guidance and that mages were crucial to their evolution, it was already too late but in a last ditch effort sent the other races to other planes but left giants, dwarves, elves and goblins thinking they were not really a threat to humans....[fools], the other races let their resentment of human domination cloud their judgement which made them massacre humans, forcing humans to suffer years of oppression from mostly goblins, even until when humans lost their ways of cultivating of their cores, they regress and lost their foothold, civilization, strength and made humans hide until a genius who later discovered the way of channeling the energy in the core in an ancient mage dwelling.
'Wow!, what a touching story and plot twist, thousands of years later, Empires formed again after repelling their eternal brutal oppressor, the goblins after the loss secluded themselves into becoming an ancient race. After their initial unity, the humans went their own seperate ways.
In the irony of things, historians formed a theory; the nobles are descendants of sword gods and sword saints.
To Larne, that theory regarding CoreEnergy awakening couldn't be more wrong and he held the opinion that research efforts into CoreEnergy awakening was heading down the wrong path. The boot-licking Elysian historians were somewhat like that. For the sake of gaining favor with the nobles, they were willing to come up with nonsensical theories regarding the relationship between CoreEnergy awakening and noble family bloodlines to justify the necessity for the exalted, towering existences of the noble families.
That line of thinking was contradictory as well. If the history on the origins of CoreEnergy was true, then that would mean that the Sword Gods and Saints from whom the noble families had descended were merely cannon fodder created by the magi. In the battles depicted in 'The War of the races', army after army of Sword Gods were sent to die on the battlefield. There were easily thousands of Sword Gods in an army and most of them perished anyway. Even most Sword Saints could only barely survive should they possess miraculous luck. Larne really wondered what the nobles thought about the fact that their ancestors were created to be expendable human shields.
Even though the original owner of Larne's body was a noble, having been raised in a society based not on familial heritage but rather individual merits in his past life, he could not appreciate the difference in status between the nobles and the common folk as the inhabitants of this world did. To him, he still felt like he was that small time urbanite craftsman past his fifties who's busy managing his little cottage.
The fateful night he escaped earth and transcended realms and planes. How and why did he wake up in Ruslan Larne's body the next day? The former politician and scientist was shocked and frantic. Fortunately, the body unto which his soul had reincarnated had been badly hurt and could not move in bed for two whole months, giving him enough time to reorient himself and assimilate the memories of the body's owner. And given the original owner's detestable personality, his caretakers could not be bothered to pay much attention to him, allowing the sudden switch in behavior go unnoticed.
In his past life, he was born in a small town in a rich and powerful country into a relatively well off family, which, incidentally, also had a tradition of martial cultivation.
His father has always had a weak body and his second and third uncles worked far away from home. His grandfather raised his father and his siblings very strictly and had forced them to learn their ancient family medicine herbs since their childhood. They trained incessantly: in the morning, they memorized the meridians of the body while in the night, they studied recipes for herbal concoctions. Their days were tough, but nevertheless fulfilling. During Larne's childhood in his past life, he was very playful and caused much trouble in that little town he lived in with his cousins.
But he got sick of his lifestyle and wanted to explore the vast world around him. Given his excellent grades in high school and his tendency to always blow up his room, he eventually got into a gifted school and from there on excelled in science from chemical to biological anything his curiousity took him to.
His twelve years of experimenting and discovery made him get into a conspiracy plot he wasn't suppose to get into. The foreign country he was working in deported him.
Then he got into politics that he had no experience of, but through his speeches and mind-blowing ideas he got elected into the highest office and because of this decided to start 'war ' but he ended up being winded up and chased down even across earth because the country desired peace and stability and society has shifted its focus towards the economy instead. The army he was building, gradually faded into the background, solemnly enduring and silently protecting their country. After getting news about his parents' ill health and returned home to inherit his father's crafts workshop.
Even though he got married and had several kids, owned a luxurious car, and lived in a grand mansion, he still felt that his life was empty and devoid of any meaning. That was why occasionally, he would meet up with his old comrades to have some drinks and talk about the good old days while they got drunk on the nostalgia.
According to the memories of Larne, also referred by many as Landon. Although his father was only a vassal king, the land enfeoffed to the Ruslan family was incredibly vast, though most of it were desolate mountains and the population under their rule only numbered thousands. His family was not very wealthy, with only a small town and castle under their control as well as a small copper mine that served as their main source of income.
Originally a good archer, the ancestor of the Ruslan family joined the army of the founding emperor, Adox I, as a scout after hearing a call to arms echoed by a group of traveling bards. He has since experienced hundreds of battles and accomplished many deeds, winning the trust and favor of the emperor and granted knighthood, despite being of peasant birth.
Following the campaign that had stabilized the foundations of the empire, Adox I asked his loyal vassal what he wanted. The Ruslan family founder said that he wished to return to his homeland and live out the rest of his life there. Looking at the old knight whose hair had already turned white, Adox I let out a long sigh and took out a map. Seeing that the northern highlands were mostly desolate mountains, he drew out a large area and granted the territory to the knight, who was subsequently styled baron [but later in generations to come, that knight's grandson became duke after defeating the barbarians and taking their land, then Larne's grandfather became the king to 1/3 of the barbarians] and granted him the highly-ranked Proud-Blood CoreEnergy manual, hoping that the baron's descendants will continue to safeguard the northern borders.
In present day, seven generations had elapsed since the first ancestor of the Ruslan family. Larne's father had two other brothers. He was the eldest among them and had inherited both the land and the title while his second brother, Larne's second uncle, joined the royal guard in the Adox capital. Larne had never met this uncle of his. He only heard that his second uncle was doing quite well in the capital. His third uncle was the head of business affairs of the Ruslan family and also the one who brought Larne to the Orca Academy.
