Chapter 66 - Meeting True Evil

Silas Gravestone is walking down a long hallway, with a stride in his step and a scowl on his face. The young man stops at the massive double doors at the end of the hallway, and takes in a deep breath before proceeding to grip the handles tightly.

Silas swings open the doors, and the atmosphere changes almost instantly. He enters the large chamber the doors lead into, and they quickly close behind him, with a thundering slam.

Silas Gravestone: We need to talk. (Silas says as he faces the only two figures in the room, one standing up, and the other sitting down)

"How rude, can't you see that we were in the middle of a conversation?" (The shadowy man tells Silas, his face shrouded in darkness, and his presence very menacing)

Silas Gravestone: You! You stay out of this! This is between me and my grandfather. (Silas tells the man with a glare)

"Why you little..." (The shadow man said as he took a couple steps forward)

"Enough!" (A gruff yet strong voice spoke, commanding silence in the room instantly)... Leave us. (The man ordered, his red gaze briefly intensifying)

"As you wish... Master." (The shadow man says before vanishing in a puff of black smoke)

"Now... What did you want to say to me child?" (The old man asked, his gaze now directed at Silas)

Silas quickly begins to sweat, trying to muster up the courage to speak to this man, who is his grandfather. The elderly man didn't look at all impressive, his silver hair is long and unkept, his face is weary from age, and he seems very frail. Although this man wore a suit of black armour, it is old and rusty, with a tattered cape that could reasonably be compared to rags.

Even though this man looks old and weak, Silas is still very much afraid of him, and there is a good reason why. This frail looking man, is known as the strongest figure in the nightmare world.

Silas Gravestone: Such presence... Even from here, I can feel his incredible power... It's... It's... terrifying. (Silas thought in dread, literally shaking at the presence of this individual)

"Forgive me... I completely forgot to tone it down a bit... Is this better? (The old man asked after a brief pause)

The pressure Silas felt is reduced almost instantly, no doubt done to make him comfortable enough to speak.

Silas Gravestone: I'm sorry, it's just hard to speak when you're like that. (Silas explains nervously, feeling a little bit better)

"You don't have to be sorry, my boy. You are not yet strong enough to stand by my side, but if you keep working as hard as you have been doing, I have no doubt in my mind, that you will reach my level eventually. (The old man tells him, a weak smile creeping across his face)

Silas Gravestone: Grandpa, if you have so much faith in me, why then did you undermine the authority you gave me, and in front of my team?! (Silas asks him)

"That was not my intent. I wanted you to show them how strong you really are, but you chose to hide your true power instead... Why? (The old man asks, his tone soft-spoken, but his presence demanding an answer)

Silas swallows a heavy lump of saliva, before finally giving his answer.

Silas Gravestone: I do not trust the Destroyer, I believe that he will one day betray us. So when that day comes, I want him to underestimate my power, just enough for me to be able to destroy him. (Silas explains with a menacing look in his eyes)

"(Chuckles) That's my boy, this is why I chose you to carry my legacy. You will one day inherit this world Silas Gravestone, so you better watch and learn how I rule it! (The old man says as he rises from his throne, staring at his grandson proudly)

Silas Gravestone: I will do my best to carry on your legacy, Grandpa. (Silas tells him with a smile, knelling before his grandfather)

"Good." (He said in satisfaction)
