Eve shifted back and forth in her new room nervously, her eyes darting to the wooden double doors every now and then. It had been a few hours since she had blurted out her feelings shamelessly to the regent yet still there was no sign of him.
"I know what I want?!" She exclaimed, throwing her hands up in frustration. "Really Eve?! Do you, really?"
It was one thing to have said that out loud in front of the regent. But the very thought of his teeth sinking into her scared her more than it excited her. She felt ridiculous standing there in that huge room in her worn-out white dress. Everything around her seemed to scream at her that she did not belong.
If Litty were alive, she would have even made some stupid joke about a lamb waiting for a wolf to devour her. Eve sighed, shaking her head. her words started to sound more ridiculous with each passing moment. For once, she felt like her intelligence had fallen to the level of her stepsister.
