It was getting more and more uncomfortable in her arms. Sophia seemed to be in a bad mood. Despite her efforts to maintain a poker face, her feelings were clearly showing through. Eve took a deep breath, trying to do so as quietly as she could. But the pain in her chest made it impossible.
"Ngh." She grunted, clutching her chest from under the plush green robe covering her form.
Sophia's jaw clenched at the sound, her body quickly going rigid once again. Eve glanced at the woman guiltily. The commander had not even looked at her once since she had picked her up. But then again, it was understandable.
She had knowingly or unknowingly barged into the woman's love life with her problems. She would have been as irritated as Sophia if she were in her position. After all, who would want to lose a man like Nikolai, she thought, stealing a glance at the regent's back.
