Eve pushed down her sleeves, walking through the corridor determinedly. There wasn't a place on her body that didn't ache. But just like every other day, she pushed forward with forced smile on her face, nodding at the other Walkers as she passed them by.
No one bothered to return the smile nor even nod in acknowledgement. They all stared at her with pity or disgust. Once again, she felt the loneliness creep back into her veins, thrusting its tendrils further into her body.
Eve took a deep breath, fighting the urge to cave in. She pushed at the wood in front of her, creaking the door open to the kitchen. The aroma of spices brewing in fresh milk hit her the moment she stepped inside the room, watching a familiar dark head peeping into the huge cauldron over the fire.
"Are you back already?" Dina asked, keeping her eyes on the stew in front of her.
