With her mind filled with chaotic thoughts, she pushed open the curtains to let in the sunlight and hurried about her chores, mindlessly brushing through the rows and rows of books stacked into the cupboards.
Not once did hunger break the trail nor tiredness. Sleep had long forgotten its hold on her. Eve did not realize how time passed, as the sun dived back over the edge of the horizon and the sky was filled with a soft pinkish glow, welcoming the night with open arms.
She did not notice how the day had passed by, nor when the doors opened and closed quietly behind her. She did not see the relief on his face when he spotted her bent by his bookshelf nor the way the corners of his mouth tilted upwards into a smile.
"Hello there." A soft magnetic voice whispered from the direction of the door, startling her with its familiarity.
