Eve paused, her heart skipping a beat as she did. The path was quite dark, seeing how the servants were yet to light the lamps hanging against the walls on either side. What was that sound? She wondered, her stomach twisting nervously.
The silence was suddenly all the more frightening. With the night swallowing the sunlight, the palace had become all the more dangerous to walk around. The matron's warnings rang in her head. Eve gulped, her eyes darting to the sides anxiously, the darkness enveloping the length of the space throwing her worst fears into her mind.
"H-hello?" She stuttered, her voice coming out as a mere squeak.
